This trailer hub has a zinc coating that resists corrosion, making it ideal for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. All GAL-DEX hubs undergo a test in which they are sprayed with a 5-percent salt solution to determine corrosion resistance over time. These products are able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating indicates that a product is not only durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with saltwater.
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today we're going to take a look at the Dexter Galvanized Trailer Hub for 6,000-pound axles. This has a 6 on 5-1/2-inch bolt pattern. This is a marine-grade trailer hub that will fit on either axles. This does come with the inner and outer bearing races pre-installed. You can see the inner bearing race right there and the outer bearing race right there. Now, to install this onto your axle, it will require both inner and outer bearings. It will require a grease seal, a grease cap, and lug nuts.
All of those items we do sell separately on our website. Now, this hub does have a gal-dec 00:00:30 zinc plating, which has a 500-hour salt spray rating. This product is able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating will indicate that this product is not only durable enough to last in fresh water environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with salt water. It's ideal for use on boat or snow mobile trailers and durable enough for salt water applications. This is designed to fit on a 6,000-pound axle. The bolt pattern again is a 6 on 5-1/2-inch bolt pattern.
The wheel studs are 1/2 inch diameter, so they do use 1/2 inch by 20 size lug nuts. Weight capacity on this hub is 3,000 pounds, so when this is used with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet the 6,000-pound maximum capacity. Now, just to give you some part numbers for the bearings and all those parts that are required to install this. The inner bearing it uses is part number 25580. The outer bearing that goes in here is 15123. The grease seal that's used on the back is either part number 10-10 or 10-36.
The grease cap that would go on the outside here, you can use either the F001520 or the DC250L-DCRP, and then the lug nuts, the 1/2 inch by 20 lug nuts that fit on these studs would be part number X1023R. That should do it for the review on the Dexter Galvanized Trailer Hub for 6,000-pound axles with the 6 on 5-1/2-inch bolt patter.
