The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

A word of caution. Unlike the brake kit, the drum kit only does one wheel. So if you order a brake kit and a drum kit you don’t have enough to do two wheels.
Bought new Dexter brakes and drums to replace the original brakes on my 1995 Haulmark car trailer. The original drums and magnets were badly worn, and I wanted to replace them before going to the car cruise in Ocean City. I received an email from etrailer.com within hours of placing the order, stating that the order has shipped! The absolute best customer service I ever had. The parts arrived within days, and the packaging was superb. Thank you etrailer!
I wanted to use original Dexter Axle Parts on my pop up camp trailer and that is what I received from etrailer.com. The online process was extremely easy and when I discovered I made an error on my order I was able to quickly make the change and the parts were shipped very fast and at a good price. There are a lot of knock off parts out there claiming to be "Dexter quality" but not actual Dexter Axle Parts. Be aware! Trust etrailer.com when you want Original Dexter Axle Parts.
I just completed the install of the Timbren independent suspension system with dexter electric brakes and hubs on a 2008 TAB teardrop trailer. The was not an easy install on a 2008 TAB trailer. The original axel system bolted to a light frame and the spacing did not work with the new components. I had to build a 1/4 inch steel adapter plate shimmed out 1 inch to get the wheel clearance needed then bolt the Timbrens to the adapter plate. Now that it is all installed, the trailer runs much smoother since each wheel can step over bumps with out transferring the impact across a solid axel to the other side. The old system was an old style mechanical surge brake system which was worthless. The new electric brakes and a Tekonsha P3 controller works fine.
Got this with a 10 inch trailer brake. Everything was as expected. I had to buy a couple nylock nuts from Menards. They are 7/16 by 40 pitch. Which is a fine thread.
I'm Out $[XX]+, etrailer sent wrong part. You can't return after 60 days :-(
I have a 2015 jayco jay flight Slx 145 RB. I called etrailer and ordered the brake and hub kits. The parts arrived promptly. I got covid so I didn't get to installing them right away. When I did, the hub wouldn't fit on the the axle. Now that the brakes are apart I can see that the original ones are 8-418 and etrailer sent me 8-247. My originals are 10" x 1-1/2" The ones they sent are 10"x2-1/4". Very disappointed with etrailer! You would think they could at least take them back with a restocking fee.
installed brakes on my 97 Rogue boat trailer. E-Trailer had everything I needed for the job. Trailer already had the 4-hole mounting plate for the backing plate. It was all bolt on, brakes work great. I have bought quite a few items from them over the past few years, including an axle assy with brakes for another boat trailer, 2 brake controllers and also a trailer hitch for our older Lexus suv. I am very satisfied with there service and quality of there merchandise.
Reassembly of parts went perfectly, I made the right choice with etrailer !!
The brake kits (2) wheels, were great, It was so much easier to replace everything (drum, shoes, bearings seals etc). The self adjusting brakes work great too, had to play with it a little to get it wright, but that’s easy on a small trailer (Casita). Let me tell you, if you go to a RV shop and have them replace brake shoes and check all other components, you will pay way much more than just replacing everything with new yourself. Oh, the bearing races are preset in the drum, so you don’t have to remove and replace the baring races (that can save a lot of time and effort and special tools).
The brakes from etrailer were of excellent quality. They installed easily, and no adjustments were needed for the installation. After bleading the system, the brakes worked fine. I will definitely recommend etrailer to my friends and relatives needing trailer parts and accessories.
Quick service and straight forward install on these brakes last fall. I took it for a drive to adjust the brakes but do not believe they are set to optimum settings, as yet. So far this year I have been unable to take it back out on the road due to other commitments, except to move it to a new storage facility. Hopefully next year I will get out on the road and set up the brakes better. If not I'll have to manually set them. Otherwise they appear to work as they should.
As a consumer in todays age, I look for service but also price adjusting when possible based on competition. Not the first time I ordered from Etrailer but I did find other competitors with lower pricing on the items I purchased. Comical to see that not appropriate for review is indicating anything contrary to excellent. Thus it is that pictures shown of damaged boxes may not reveal how the end product is used or affected but it is also part of the process of ordering in the future.
If asking for tips only or how to give rave reviews when the overall needs to be conveyed, then why offer it as an alternative to begin with?
Great quality product, that’s why I get all my trailering equipment from etrailer.
We have been going camping out West snd Southwest for five years now. Pulling 2003 Jayco 12 Sd popup behind 2006 Chevrolet Express 2500. A lot of mountains. Big Mountains. I noticed that the hydraulic brakes on the camper didn't work properly. I have tried to adjust them multiple times but it didn't help. I decided to replace them with electric brakes . It looked like etrailer had exactly what I needed. I ordered the electric brakes assembly first and then hub and drum assembly. Had to take some measures for the brake plate mounting and also get part numbers of the old bearings in the hub. All parts arrived two days after order was placed. Amazing. All the parts were there. . I am not the greatest mechanic but I was able to install them fairly quickly. Installation videos on etrailer website and YouTube were very helpful. We just went on our first camping trip this year. Only two hours drive. It seems that everything works fine I can feel that new brakes actually work. Thanks to Nicole at etrailer for helping me with this order.
Installed perfectly and performed as expected.
This was a switch out to a new trailer without brakes to adding Hubs & Drums with brakes. Everything worked out as planned and it was a quick change out.
Thanks for your help etrailer
Great product next time grease fitting for bearing lube
I purchased a used cargo trailer. We used it in October to go to Colorado on a hunt. We had a horrible time with the brakes failing. I tore it down this Spring and found there were no brakes on the front axle. I started checking around locally and could not find the parts I needed. I found etrailer online and took a chance and ordered(something Idon’t do shop online)the parts I was sure I needed. The parts arrived Tuesday and I installed them today. Everything was just as advertised and the fit was exact. Now I just need to get two new tires and wheels and the trailer will be ready for our trip to Colorado this year. Thanks E-Trailer.

Great Price on a new brake drum for my Casita. Included everything - bearings, seals, dust cap, retainer, axle nut and lug nuts. Did not include the washer, but that's no big deal (I have a few extra!). Arrived much faster than expected, too. Got my Casita back on the road after a bearing failure that scored the inside of the hub. Great price and good service from etrailer! I must also mention that etrailer has so much good INFORMATION and tutorials as well. There might be other online sites that have it for a penny cheaper, but they don't have the information you need to get the job done right. Thanks again etrailer!
This trailer drum kit seems to work well as a direct replacement for the original equipment on my trailer. Reason for the 1 star deduction is that this kit does not include the axle washer with the notch that was on the original assembly and the packaging appears inadequate for small pack carrier shipping. (2 of 4 hub kits arrived with issues - one box was torn in transit resulting in missing pieces and a second arrived with a dented bearing race). Overall, a good quality product and if the manufacturer addresses the packaging issues to ensure everything arrives intact, it can be even better!
Bought these to add electric brakes to our trailer and they worked great. All needed parts were included and they fit perfect.
I did not know what size I needed but had sent a picture and measurements. I received the proper bearing size but the hub was huge and wouldn't fit. I was able to use the bearings but was over sold the hub.
The brake drum/hubs are excellent. The plastic bag with the bearings and other hardware didn’t survive shipping in 3 out of 4 instances. The included bearings are Chinese and would probably work fine, however I installed Timken bearings and races.
Everything arrived in good shape. Haven't installed do to weather. Was missing one plastic wire fastener on one of the breaks. On rechecking the web page I see that the nuts to secure the break to the trailer were to be purchased separately, had I noticed that I would have included it with my order. No problem was able to purchase 8 nuts and washers for $2.00 at a local nut and bolt dealer. Appreciate your help with my purchase and will deal with you when I need more items for my utility trailers or camping trailer.
Fit and finish was great as these are the same OEM brand That my trailer was build with
Easily installed bearings and hardware
Everything arrived but I was surprised that small parts weren't lost because one cardboard box (brake drum) had split open and the inner bag (lug nuts, etc) was ripped.. I would encourage the packers to make sure packages are sturdy enough for the trip.
