Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I ordered this to replace obsolete brake parts on my Micro Lite 23 foot travel trailer. We had some issues with shipping, however Kelsey S at etrailers looked after me with excellence! She helped me with measurements and sourcing the right part and fixed the shipping issue! Thanks Kelsey for great customer service.

Perfect replacement. Identical to original. Slight problem with parts from Dexter was resolved snd replaced in 2 days. Best customer service ever. You guys are the best!

by:

Installed easy an work well at this 1 year anniversary of installation.

by:

Initially ordered the wrong diameter hub assembly. Return was quick. Ordered the correct assembly. Greased the bearing, applied seal and installed Hub and drum assembly. Thanks to the FAQ on giving instructions how to order the correct bearings. Assembly is torqued and ready for the road.

by:

Dexter drum as advertised. Nice coat of paint. Bearings and seals not installed . so I can assemble using grease I choose, snythetic. Happy with

by:

I got these drums in to replace some old ones. the only thing I miss is the adjustment hole. But being an over cautious tower I inspect my trailer brakes often. Installed yesterday and they worked great. Ordered on a Sunday and received on Tuesday - but I live in the same shipping -zone I believe - got some great LED trailer lights as well. Image shows product installed.

by:

Great product and price . Next time I'll buy complete kit , brake shoes, magnets, drums etc.
I bought everything separately .all in one is cheaper . Brakes on my airstream are better than new!
Picture is old brakes and magnets I replaced at same time with new drums and bearings.

Tows like a dream. With the trailer attached is just like driving with no trailer at all. Brakes are responsive and smooth. Just on additional note: I replaced all 4 of the electric drum brakes with Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kits. All bought from etrailer, all fit perfectly. No problems! Very happy with the product and the results.

Did a complete 4-wheel brake replacement on my 2010 Springdale 26', 5th-wheel. OEM Dexter drums and OEM Dexter Never-Adjust Electric Brake Kit. Spoke with etrailer rep and confirmed correct parts for my rig. Ordering was easy and delivered free in 4 days. Used the 4-days to remove old parts, clean under rig, maintenance to slide-out, etc. much easier with tires out of the way. Parts arrived and about 8 hours of work, it's all back together. Can't tell you if it works because we have not taken a trip yet. COVID19 puts a damper on traveling. But a good time to do deferred maintenance.

by:

These hub drum assemblies came pre-rusted for me as you can see from the photos. Even with a desiccant pack in the box it didn’t help. If it were only on the braking surfaces I wouldn’t have an issue but it’s within the bearing portion of the hub also. The other issue is the thin small plastic bag that the bearings, seals, lug nuts and grease cap are supposed to be in is flimsy and tears open allowing the bearings to bounce around all over the inside of the box. A better bag would solve the problem. A quick call to Etrailer and new drums are on the way. They said they would verify no rust this time. I’m confident they will be fine this time as Etrailer has always been great to do business with in the past!

by:

Great product would never shop anywhere else. I never need to worry about this product failing. We went over the Rockies twice with our open car hauler.

I just took the whole assembly off to regrease and check for wear. Awesome results after a year of heavy and frequent use.

by:

The product received as descried, and fit perfect!

by:

These Dexter drum kits we’re awesome. It came with everything except a new cotter key. Maybe they will start adding a cotter key to the kit in the future.

by:

Wow ! Great prices and fast shipping. Saved a ton.
I wish I had found you last year when I had to rebuild my othe Pace Shadow GT Trailer after some 150,000 towing miles. This open trailer has had a tougher life and maybe 50,000 miles.
We turned around while working on the trailer and there he was. The local turtle thinks he found a new girlfriend !!LOL Gues he likes your drums.

by:

The sales lady walked me thru all the info i needed to select the part without her i could not have got it done
THANK YOU

by:

No problems with your drum brakes after their first season on my homemade trailer.

by:

To anyone who is putting brakes on a trailer I got a set of electric brakes hubs bearing and seal and cap from e-trailer and everything
fit perfect. They even arrived 2 days earlier than I thought. I would recommend e-trailer over anyone else. They have the best quality
product for less and made in USA. For me if I need any trailer parts I wouldn't look any more. They have very friendly service and has someone there that not only works in office but understands and knows bearings and when you ask questions knows exactly what you are talking about. I am completely 100% satisfied with their product and service.

I was replacing a damaged OEM hub on my trailer's Dexter 3500lb. axle. This hub appeared in every way to be a direct replacement. It was great to have the included set of new bearings so I didn't have to worry about the condition of the old bearings. Bearings and hub install was straightforward and adjusting the bearing play was straightforward.

The hub and drum assembly I purchased is still working well a year later. No problems to report.

by:

super fast delivery. very nice customer service agent!

by:

I had to replace the brake drums and brake shoes and magnets on my fifth wheel. It was cheaper to buy the completely assembled backing plates along with the drums then to replace the individual parts. Etrailer had the best price of all. They were very helpful when ordering and the parts arrived in two days. The parts fit perfect and the job was easy thanks to Etrailer.

A number 1

by:

I drove my empty two axle car trailer a few times to break in the new brakes. During assembly I did not adjust the brakes tight enough, therefore the brakes would not lock up when empty. Adjusting the brakes manually is a royal pain because of the drop axle, so I let them self adjust. On my first 150 mile drive trailering a 66 Mustang, the brakes self adjusted perfectly! Great product!

by:

I wasted a lot of time and effort with auto parts stores trying to find replacement studs for my 1991 7000 lb trailer. But once I figured out that Drexel Axel was the manufacturer and doesn't sell replacement studs, just a whole hub kit, I found etrailer.com and their generic replacement kit is significantly lower cost. It arrived in 2 days with std shipping and fits just fine. The installation instructions that came with the part made the installation easy.

Its working

by:

Recieved the parts in a timely manner. They are large heavy items and do move around the shipping box, however no damage occured. Had to purchase the nuts & lock washers to attach the backing plate to the axle. Other than that everything was included.
I used a double10Ga. wire. Brakes went on like a dream......my wife greased the bearings so that is probably why. Immediately left Michigan for Florida with a farm tractor on the trailor, checked the hub temp at every stop and experanced no problems.
"Great Stuff" Sorry no pics.
