Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Coming home from a fishn trip I stop at a store to get a snack. I looked at the wheels on my boat trailer and see one poaking out futher than the other and the work begins. We take the wheel off and tie up the axle for the trip home. I needed a new hub. Wish I had caught it sooner. So the next day I take what was left off and call etrailer. They helped me to get the right hub. Then I decide to check all the bearings on both boats, glad I did. On the pontoon I find out the drum assembly bearins was really bad. After removing it I figured it would be easier just to replace the whole thing, especially when I looked at the prices at etrailer. If I had kept the old drum I would have had to had it turned and smoothed out and then replace bearings and those hard to change out bearing holders. The folks at etrailer worked with me to get the right one for my trailer and when I got it (shipping was fast) all I had to do was add grease and slip it on. So far so good and I fish a lot. I do have 2 boats and both of my boats have bearings and hubs from etrailer. I guess I keep going back because it is easy to call and talk to a person, that can help me in what I need and get the right part the first time. In this area they were doing road work and had the roads really messed up for awhile. The rough roads worked on those older bearings, now that they are fixed maybe I won't need to change them out as often, so far so good. PS- But if I do I know where to go, even got a few extra's laying around. :-)

Havent had to replace a hub or bearing and its been a year. Thanks etrailer

by:

Timing is everything!!! lol. I did not get a chance to install them until this last weekend. They look great. I installed them all. One of the backing plate and brakes were replaced, due to broken brake shoes. So basically I had 3 old brake shoes and plates and 1 set brand new. All of the hubs rub on all the backing plate. Frustrated to say the least. I have had 3 other individuals, 1 of which is a heavy mobile equipment mechanic. The best way to put it is the drums are slightly made out of tolerance than the original ones. All drums rub on the backing plates. Will they wear to fit? Maybe? Sounds like crap going down the road. Only pulled the trailer 2 miles. Any suggestions? . Such a new review they have not responded yet

Hello Robert, Thank you for your email and past order with us. It is difficult to say what the rubbing noise you are hearing is but I suspect the shoes on the backing plate are coming into contact with the drum which is completely normal but do not forget to adjust them prior to towing. I would then start with lubrication. In addition to packing each of the bearings before assembly you will also need to fill them with the right amount of grease. I would also make sure no dirt got into the grease and the spindle was also clean prior to being lubed. Once they are greased properly you can then move onto the spindle nut. We recommend tightening the spindle nut down until you start feeling resistance and there is no side to side play. I have a great FAQ that covers all the bases on adjusting new brakes.

Was not padded well for shipping, collar had broken through box top and plastic cap was smashed, looks like shipper covered the hole in the box with packing tape. Drum seemed to be OK and fit fine.

Definitely not what we want to happen. I can have a replacement grease cap sent out to you right away.

by:

Two problems.
#1 Representative told
me that I needed grease caps because your website did not show them as being included in the kit. They DID come in the kit and etrailer would not return them without my paying to do so.
#2. Ordered auto adjusting brakes. Two sets. Etrailer sent me Auto adjusting for one side of the trailer but not the other. Obviously this would be a HUGE safety concern when one side auto adjusts and the other does not. Returned all of them and then paid more to buy them locally because I could not wait 2 weeks (total time for both orders) to get the trailer brakes done.
Etrailer has been told about both of these problems with little to no concern on their part. I own three trailers and have spent thousands with etrailer. No more.

by:

The trailer has been in and out of the water a number of times with no problems with the bearings or brakes.

by:

Added brakes to my 17 ft. Trailer. Brakes went on perfectly and these drums matched with no problems. Once again quick delivery and no issues.

Great, this trailer has been to Idaho twice and getting ready to go again. No issues and working perfect

Great quality they have all the parts you need. Delivery was earlier than expected. Will be using the brake kit for boat trailer. Replace old out dated hydraulic brakes.

All working great

by:

Purchased these to replace the Dexter drums on my Coleman pop up camper. The hubs had plenty of grease and the bearings already in place. I just had to reinstall the existing flat washer, castle nut, and pin. It shipped with two different dust caps. I used the one with the easy grease cap. Overall very happy with the product.

by:

It fit, seems to have plenty of grease, but the grease cap is noticeably smaller in diameter. I had to find a cotter pin that was significantly thinner in order to fit the grease cap without rubbing against the cap. Never came across that before. Made in prc.

by:

I returned these because they were the wrong ones and etrailer made me pay $XXX in shipping. I will never buy from e trailer again

by:

Product seems fine but delivery was all messed up. Half of my order came on Wednesday with the second half to be delivered later that same day. Now the second half is not going to be delivered until Tuesday of next week! Etrailer rep said they could not do anything since it was shipped UPS and that I should contact them. Tried calling UPS but no way to talk to a live person. VERY poor and frustrating delivery experience! I now have no choice but to wait an additional 6 days.

by:

The hub and drum assembly came with inner and outer bearing pre-installed ( as per my request) from Alex at etrailer. All the parts needed to assemle were there and made installation easy.

by:

I’ve replaced 2 of my hubs so far and didn’t have any heating up issues. This will be my 3rd.

by:

Overall the hubs look good quality. I was disappointed by the shipping as three of the four I ordered boxes were ripped from shipping. This caused some scuff marks on the face of the hub and the outside bearing plug to be destroyed.

by:

The fit was good they work great e trailers has great products

by:

Order arrived in time and the install went well. The trailer brakes work great.
Thanks to Etrailer for supplying everything beeded for another successful project.

by:

Perfect fit. Bearings prepacked with grease. Arrived a day early.

Excellent still. It was literally plug and play. I lube my hub every 5000 miles or so. Working perfectly, smooth ride and most of all I feel safe with this product on my trailer.

by:

Item arrived quickly and intact. Installation of the brakes and drums took a couple of hours and were very easy. Brakes and drums worked very well. I may change the other axle drums next. Thanks.

7/31/2018

I loved the way the new parts helped my trailer tow. It was smoother and more secure. I have now sold this trailer but when I need new equipment I will seek the same parts

by:

Arrived as the order stated, only 2 days after placing order! Packaged securely. Everything fit like a glove. Nice product.

by:

I ordered these hubs/drums as a pair, they included the bearings, races, seals, lug nuts and dust caps. They had a painted coating on the outside to prevent corrosion and they bolted right up. I would recommend.

by:

It was a pleasure as always shopping at etrailer. It was easy to learn how to measure the bolt pattern with the given instructions via your website. There was a wide variety of in stock selections to choose from and the price was very reasonable. The easy access grease cap was bonus

by:

Our racing season almost came to a quick halt when my Haulmark trailer had a bearing explode, taking out the hub. I found e-trailer by accident and ordered a complete hub and bearing kit. The price was amazing, the quality was amazing and to top it off the company upgraded the shipping and I had it in two days! I am impressed with not only the quality but all the information on the website to include the videos and tech tips. Because of the experience, I have decided to add new bearings and hubs all the way around. Well done!! Off to the drags that I did not think we would be attending this weekend!
