Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Not much to see, but here are pics of the installed new hub and Bearing Buddy.

by:

This hub came quickly and worked fine for my application.

by:

My trailer originally had 5/ 4.75 hubs but decided to change to 5/4.5 hubs since my other trailer has the 5/4.5 hubs. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

Just a quick note to say thank you to eTrailer for not only the quality of parts received but also to Melissa for the dedicated service and attention that was given to me when placing my order.

THANK YOU MELISSA for all of your help!
Looking forward to my next purchase!

Converted my trailer to 5x4.5 so I could use standard rims. Everything worked great. I ordered 2 drums and 2 hubs. Everything included.

by:

Arrived quickly and worked perfect.

by:

Looked great as advertised.

by:

Easy to install and the product description was right on. Price point made it easy to make the decision to replace the 17 year old hub and bearings that were still working and are now carried as spares. I average about a thousand miles per year and this gives me peace of mind, as it's just a matter of time before a failure on the road.

by:

low price and fast shipping and i was able to covert my dexter trailer hubs from 5 lug on 5" centers-to-5 lug on 4 1/2 centers" I did have a problem the grease caps do not fit in the new hub assembly's .I cleaned up the old grease caps and put them back on the new hubs. I haven't road tested them yet but both the hub assembly's turn freely with no play from side to side. So far so good, if i have any problems i will contact you. THANK YOU

by:

I put the new hub assembly on for my Lil' Hobo retro camper trailer. The hub assembly doesn't come with a washer and nut for the spindle, so you need to save your old ones or buy these separate if you don't have them. I put it on with new tires and wheels, upgrading from a four bolt to five bolt pattern.

by:

Excellent customer service, Rodney S went above and beyond what I expected, package arrived a day earlier than anticipated, will definitely use these folks again in the future.

by:

The trailer hubs were ideal, and as a total novice I had no difficulty installing them. I’d do business with etrailer again with confidence

by:

Purchased 2, hubs measured .008 & .010 runout. Thankfully only beening used on a low speed trailer without brakes so the vibrations are minor but I would not purchase again.

by:

Made it easy to get the bearing that I needed even though it seemed confusing at first. Put a lot of miles on it since, no problems. Good site, will look here first the next time the trailer needs parts.

by:

it was great overall. thankyou

by:

Quality product, shipped pre-greased. Easy installation. Used them to convert my old hubs to the more common 5 on 4 1/2.

by:

Replaced hubs on 40 year old boat trailer. Cleaned up spindles with 350 grit sandpaper, packed bearings, filled remainder of wheel cavity with grease, assembled with new seal and old washer and hub nut. Good as new. I would have given them 5 stars if new washer and hub nut were included. I did learn that a dust cap driver can easily be made by cutting off a short piece of 2 inch sch. 40 pvc pipe. New lug nuts and dust cap were included.

by:

Product was as described, but took over 10 days before it left the warehouse, even though the website said in stock. Called twice first time I was told on a Saturday that it would ship on Monday.I could see online that it hadn’t ship on Monday afternoon. I called back Monday and was told a couple more days. They said it was a busy time of year and it was at another warehouse and nothing more could be done.It was close to two weeks total before I had parts in hand. Again website said in stock

by:

I used etrailer.com for the supplier for my utility trailer needs. I received everything I needed for a very fair price.

If the trailer does indeed have 3500 pound axles then hub # AKIHUB-545-35-K will likely fit. To be sure you can pull a hub and check the bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings on the trailer currently. For a 3500 lb axle, each hub would be rated for 1750 lbs, but would still be referred to as a '3500 lb hub'. If your existing hub uses a L68149 inner and a L44649 outer hub with an Inner Diameter of 1.378 and 1.063 inches respectively, you do indeed have a typical 3500 lb axle and the etrailer branded # AKIHUB-545-35-K hub would be the correct replacement, assuming your existing wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
