Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The hub assemblies arrived quickly in a neat and well-padded box. They were easy to install and fit perfectly. Excellent customer service as I had a few questions prior to placing the order. Price was great, too!

I order my trailer parts and 2 hours later got a email they were shipped! I received my parts the next day! I have never had service like this. Will recommend etrailer to all.
Thank you.

Working great a year later!

@Mark Great, we're glad to hear that!

Correct size and looks good!

Ordered and delivered promptly. The item has already been installed with on issues to report. Very satisfied with the speed and efficiency of the folks at ETrailer. Thanks again…….

It was Greattt!!!

Hubs fit perfectly and the test run went very smooth. Giving this old jerry rigged cargo trailer found on my property an upgrade and so far it looks like these will get the job done.

Product was in stock and received in 3 days

Everything was exactly what it was supposed to be and fitted perfectly Will definitely be keeping this company in my contacts

Bad to the bone!!
Made a hard to find
part extremely easy to access!
Thanks guys!

Ordered four hubs with bearings for my utility trailer on Monday and received them on Wednesday afternoon. The price was very fair plus throw in free and fast shipping, we're off to a great start! The hubs and bearings fit perfectly thanks to etrailer's on line guide for determining proper fit. The hubs and bearings look to be of very good quality. If I had a nit to pick it would be that one of the four dust caps does not look the same as the other three, not really and issue as this is a work trailer. My entire experience with etrailer, at this point, is very positive. I will recommend them to friends and colleages.

Outstanding product. Its been a year since I installed the hubs and bearings. Ive had no problems what so ever and I use this trailer a lot. I expect to get many years of service from these bearings and hubs.

Great product. Great quality parts. Still on the trailer as of now with now issues.

Extremely satisfied! Excellent customer service, delivery was right on time. The parts ordered were exactly as advertised and fit perfectly. Ordered two more hubs to overhaul my trailer axles. Highly recommend using this company for any trailer repairs.

Fast shipping. Trailer hubs was top quality. Had my trailer back up and rolling in 45 minutes.

Bearings and hub were delivered. There was a small out of stock delay, but still got them in a timely manner. Haven't had time to get all of them assembled, but so far everything is going together easily. It was nice being able to order as a package deal.

Been working good. I liked being able to order as a package and replace everything at one time.

Trailer axle hubs with bearings, every thing fit. Easy install even for good looking parts, nice courteous help from retailer staff thanks.

etrailer was the only place I could find that had this trailer hub. Ordering was easy and shipping was fast. I will order from them again.

Complete and ready to use. Great when bearings are trashed. Saves time over beating out old races and pressing in new at a price that makes it a good value for the customer over labor to rebuild hub.

Terrific selection and quick shipping. I am pleased with the accuracy and quality of their products. Had trouble specifying replacements on other websites.

I received my order on time, the package was a little beat up from the weight of 4 hubs and 4 spindles. They maybe could of used a little better protection inside the box as they were a little rough when I opened them, but they will still work fine.

Fits great! Make sure to buy Cotter pins in Castle nuts as well does not come in the kit. Awesome product.

Quick turnaround from order to delivery. All pieces intact and the hub and components are of good quality. Would order from here again.

A perfect fit, complete kit. Thanx Jesse for the assistance in choosing the correct hub for my application!

Would of liked to see a new nut an cotter pin, Other than that no complaints

everything looks good ,have not put it together yet,but with previous experience with etrailer im sure it will go together fine.

Perfect fit... easy installation ...quick delivery -
All for less than half the price of what the local trailer supplier wanted to charge.

  • Is Lateral Movement Of The Hub Normal
The 1/8" of lateral movement on the hub does not seem right. It sounds like it is possible the bearings in the hub may not be the correct size for your spindle. The best solution is to double check the bearings and measure the spindle with calipers like # PTW80157 to ensure you have the correct diameter bearings in the hub for your trailer. I have attached a helpful diagram. You also want to make sure the castle nut is snug. I have attached a video that shows the proper way to tighten...

  • Picking Out Replacement Trailer Wheel/Tire for Trailer with 20053 Wheel
If your boat trailer has a 3,500 lb axle on it the hub part # AKIHUB-555-35-K you referenced would be correct as that's what axle capacity it was intended for and has the matching 5 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'd need. If you are unsure of the axle capacity you can check the axle for a sticker that would have that info, you can check the VIN plate for that info, or you could measure the diameter of the axle. If the diameter is 2-3/8 inches it would be a 3,500 lb axle. If you find info...

We do indeed offer an idler hub with a 5 on 5 inch wheel bolt pattern for a 3500 lb axle. The # AKIHUB-550-35-K uses the L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearing, you might want to check the reference numbers on your existing bearings to ensure that this replacement hub will be compatible with your spindles. The hub is pre greased, and includes the inner and outer bearing, the races, the grease seal, dust cover and 1/2 inch lug nuts. The bearings are pre-packed so all you'll need to do is...

I can but you will want to pull one of the hubs and check the bearings for numbers stamped into the side. This will tell me what size hub you will need. Either way once you get this information go ahead and email me back with it and I'll find a hub that works for you.

In order to choose the correct replacement hub for a trailer you'll have to know the axle capacity and bolt pattern.
