Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The simple truth is that salt can be highly corrosive to metal when exposure lasts for an extended period of time. So, the more you tow around it, the more you need to protect your trailer from it. The Z-Max zinc finish on the inner tubing of this jack offers great corrosion protection, even with occasional use around saltwater.

A glossy black paint Fulton trailer jack installed on a boat trailer frame

Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. Traditional zinc plating typically begins to deteriorate after about 100 hours. Dacromet usually lasts for around 300 to 400 hours. Fulton's Z-Max finish lasts for 600 hours in the salt spray test - 30% longer than a standard powder coat finish.

The environment this test creates is much harsher than anything you'll ever experience in your journeys, but it provides a testament to how well this jack resists rust and corrosion.

While the black paint job on the outer tube of this jack doesn't provide any corrosion resistance, it does give it a sleek look that other metallic, zinc-plated jacks don't have.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

Product arrived quickly. Appreciated the emails that appeared from a real person acknowledging the order and upon delivery. The box itself looked rough and given the tape, was concerned it had been previously opened and returned. It may have been, but when opened it, all looked in order and unit appeared new and unused. Had to drill out the holes a bit on bracket that was welded on boat trailer for this new jack ‘lock pin’ to fit as it was a larger diameter than one I replaced. Installed tonight and feels like a quality piece and better built than one I replaced. Time will tell as I actually use it.

by:

Well so far this swivel jack is the best I have purchased so far. It has a grease fitting, super sturdy, easy to crank.

Very satisfied.

Replaced a single wheel 1000 lb jack that was cheaply riveted and had play. I was unable to move my 19’ bass boat around on smooth concrete. The Fulton double wheel is smooth and solid. Painted black to match the boat and a zerk fitting as well. Perfect upgrade.

by:

A fantastic replacement for my OEM, single wheel, lower weight class jack!

by: 12/16/2023

Old Fulton Jack broke and I wanted a better stronger replacement that would bolt onto welded/painted trailer bracket. Found this and it bolted right on to original bracket with single center bolt.

by:

Typical Fulton quality. Looks Great and I expect it will perform well for years to come.

After using this Jack for the past year I can say it was a smart purchase. The dual wheel setup is robust and instills confidence. The spring locking mechanism works as advertised and spins up and out of the way easily. The jack itself handles the load with little effort and it still looks new. Should have replaced the old bent up jack sooner.

@Jeremy We're delighted to hear your new # F27CR trailer jack is working well for you!

by:

Sturdy and strong! The hard plastic wheels are fine on pavement but not useful on gravel or dirt.

by:

It's very hard for me to review the jack because I just got it and it's still in the box but thanks for your interest. I will say that it seems fairly heavy so that's a plus

  • Replacement for Dutton Lainson Jack on 2008 Ranger 621 Boat Trailer
For a replacement jack I recommend the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack # FXPD15L. This has a 1,500 lb lift capacity and the dual wheels you're looking for. The jack has a bolt-on installation and fits frames up to 3" x 5". The Z-Max 600 zinc finish gives you a 600 hour salt spray rating and it comes with a limited 5-year warranty. It also comes in black # F27CR but with a powder coat finish instead of the zinc.

I reached out to my contact over at Bulldog and when looking this they confirmed that the old Ranger trailers actually used a TJ650 style jack which they don’t make anymore. In that case we recommend replacing it with a new style jack next to the existing one such as the Fulton Round, Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack # FTJ12000101 or the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack with Dual Wheels - Sidewind - Black - 12" Lift - 1,500 lbs # F27CR.

I could not find anything specific to that part number, and Shelby is long out of business but for a bolt-on swivel jack there are a couple of options that will work for you, so long as you have a 3" x 3", 3" x 4", or 3" x 5" trailer frame. The Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack with Dual Wheels part # F27CR is designed for 3" x 3", 3" x 4", or 3" x 5" trailer frames. The largest frame size we have a bolt-on jack for is 3" x 6", the Extreme Off-Road Swing-Up Trailer Jack with Dual Wheels part # ORJW750BD. Thanks for the photo. The Fulton F2 jacks use a different mount so it isn't compatible with your current base. You will need to remove the base and then you can install the F2 # F1413040134 you referenced. This F2 will come with all new mounting hardware. If you want to keep your current mount, then I recommend the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack with Dual Wheels - Sidewind - Black - 12" Lift - 1,500 lbs # F27CR which is the closest compatible option.

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Jack To Replace Shelby 5784 Bolt On Jack
I recommend replacing your Shelby 5784 jack with the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack # F27CR. We do not carry any jacks with the same bolt pattern as your Shelby jack as they are designed to bolt around a trailer frame rather than on a welded bracket. • Recommended Replacement Swivel Jack for Tracker Boat Trailer
Since you'll be moving the trailer around by hand on a paved surface, you really wouldn't need a double wheel jack like the Fulton # F27CR.
