Drill Powered Operation

When you're hitching up before a long day of fishing, or putting away your boat before cleaning your catch, you want to be able to do it with about as much effort as casting a line. But sometimes it can be a real pain in the arm to crank your boat trailer up and down, even when the sun and rain isn't beating down on you.

An action shot shows a drill positioned on the Trailer Valet's hand crank attachment point, ready to go to work

Trailer Valet was thinking of you when they made this jack. Just slot the included drill attachment into your power drill's 1/2" chuck, remove the handle from the jack's driveshaft, and attach the drill in its place. Squeeze the trigger slowly to avoid too much torque off the bat. This will wind the gears at top speed, lifting or lowering your trailer in no time.

Quick Tip: While your power drill is meant to make operation faster, the higher torque it creates may mean a reduced lift capacity. If you'd rather get more lift capacity out of the jack, we suggest sticking with the included hand crank instead.

Rough Powder Coat Has More Wrinkles for Less Rust

Most rust-resistant coatings, like zinc, go on smooth. But this creates one big drawback: smooth finishes are easy to scratch, exposing the bare metal beneath and allowing rust and corrosion to take hold. So, the bright, shiny finish you see on day one might not last as long as you'd like.

a close up look at Trailer Valet's unique wrinkled black powder coat finish.

Trailer Valet solves this issue by applying a rough powder coat finish on top of the zinc-nickel plated outer tube that's harder to scuff and scratch. Basically, by giving the jack a rougher "terrain," this finish helps keep the jack from aging too quickly.

Not only is this jack weather resistant, but you can safely submerge it in saltwater! It's difficult to see without taking the jack apart, but between the zinc-nickel plated tubes, there is a nylon sleeve that prevents water ingress. Though you'll want to make sure you rinse it off with freshwater after, just for good measure.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

Bought this to replace my broken jack on my 30’ boat trailer and this thing is awesome, whether it’s hand cranked or with the drill it’s a lot easier than all the other trailer jacks I have, definitely will be ordering another one for another trailer I have

by:

Easy to install. Very strong and durable. It’s a great trailer jack and you can use a drill or the handle to raise and lower the jack.

by:

This is such a great trailer jack, I wish I had purchased it when I bought my trailer several years ago. The option to use a drill to raise and lower is so helpful. Also, the gearing is such that I can use the hand crank on the jack very easily. Marked improvement from the one supplied by the manufacturer.

The components can be greased using the built-in zerk. The jack foot can be removed and the post seated in 3rd party supports, and the entire mechanism swings up and locks easily for travel. Plus, the foot can be fully retracted so it is almost flush with the trailer tongue when raised.

My previous jack had the hard wheel attached and, with a very low trailer and uneven parking lots of frozen dirt in the winter, sometimes I couldn't get that old jack and wheel swung down and locked without movung the rig multiple times to find a more flat parking spot so I could disconnect the trailer. Problem solved with this Trailer Valet JXS jack!

Couldn't ask for a better side mounted jack for my 23' toy trailer. High quality and reliable. No banging on it to loosen it up so you can attach, detach the trailer in the winter.

If you are thinking of a new jack, take a good look at this one. Well worth the money. You will even enjoy using it!

While I have sold the trailer with the Trailer Valet JXS jack, the year that I used it, I felt it was the best trailer jack Ive used. I am considering replacing the standard jack on my new trailer with a Trailer Valet JXC to get ready for sledding season.

@EricP We're glad to hear that your # TV34FR trailer jack worked well for you while you had it!

by:

Very well designed unit and went on my trailer with no problems. The only needed improvement I noticed was the label that runs down the side of the unit was coming off. Not really important to me since it doesn’t affect the operation of jack.

by:

This makes hooking the trailer so much easier and faster. I just use my cordless drill to raise and lower it.

by:

So far so good. The install was a mostly straightforward process but did involve drilling some holes in my trailer tongue. The jack works great though. It's super easy with the drill which is great when it's below zero. It's nice to avoid cranking on the handle for what seems like forever.

by:

Works well, had to modify(drill extra pair of holes) to mount to my enclosed, aluminum snowmobile trailer. But it was worth the trouble.

by:

This jack was better then I thought it would be. Very heavy duty and it what should have been on the trailer in the first place. The folks at etrailer are very helpful and can help you with finding the right item.

by:

I had to drill a Hole through My EZ Load trailer Channel... However The Jack Easily lifts My 5,770lb Bayliner on the EZ-load Galvanized trailer...

by:

Thisis a sturdy and well-made jack, but it is heavy. Note that adding the jack would also meaning adding around 25 lbs to the tongue weight.

by:

Trailer Jack rusted pretty quickly. Still works ok but looks bad.

by:

Great Product and service and the answers to my questions were spot on

by:

Drill jacking is convenient!

by:

Very nice jack, fits good, works great, easy to operate with drill, fast up/down. I put it on my hydraulic dump utility trailer.

I use it alot on my trailer. Works great every time…battery in Drill lasts long time. Saves my back a lot. Glad I bought it. Highly recommend it. Lifts heavy trailer easily!

by:

Once I got the spacing set the Valet was very easy to install. It has remained solid and there's been no loosening of the nuts and bolts. Very convenient and makes putting the trailer hitch on and off the ball much easier. A little wobbly when I set it down on my concrete garage floor but won't move around. I would recommend this for any light/medium weight trailer.

by:

This is the second time I have purchased a Trailer Valet jack. The first was for a standard trailer tounge installation. These 2 are for trailer rear stabilizers for off loading heavy equipment to keep the trailer from lifting the truck. LOVE drill raising feature. Just be careful because when you get fully up or down the drill can spin out of your hand if you don't have it braced against your leg.

by:

I got a little worried about this order since, by the time I was placing the order, the item showed as 'in stock' but took a few days and a phone call to customer service, for the order to be 'gathered' and 'shipped'. However, I couldn't be happier with the product. The jack works perfectly and the installation took me last than 5 minutes. If you are in the market for a jack, look no further. I highly recommend it!

by:

I have to look it over real good because the box that it was in was destroyed also need to check everything to see if there’s any missing pieces, I should have sent it back

by:

This jack was easy to install, took about 15 minutes. It takes a lot less effort to manually crank than my original jack. My boat is a 19' Tracker Targa. It has a lot of tongue weight. The drill option works great with my 1/2 20 volt Ridged Drill in the low setting.
Very happy with my transaction with etrailer. Ordered online. was shipped same day. I had the package 2 days later. Shipped UPS

by:

Used it for 3 months. The drill was never powerful enough to lift the boat so had to hand crank it. I tried 3 different drills. It became very hard to crank, tried greasing it. At 3 months it locked up. I've already replaced it.

by:

Excellent jack!! Every 80 year should put one on their trailer easy to use even with the hand crank!!!!

by:

Good heavy duty jack and nice powder coat finish smooth operation and they send the adapter for using a drill to raise n lower it plus a manual handle. And very fast shipping.

by:

Great trailer jack, heavy built easy to install

by:

I’m using the jack for something else I can’t discuss here With you but it is going to work well so you don’t have a trailer to use this jack thank you

by:

EASY TO INSTALL....LOOKS GREAT...WAY BETTER THAN CRANKING MY OLD JACK...CANT WAIT TO PUT IT TO USE...THANKS FOR A GREAT PRODUCT
