SP-21027513-1/2"14"27"2-3/4"

Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Having never replaced a leaf spring before I decided to go ahead and give it a shot on my own. I reviewed the information on etrailer.com and found the replacement parts without a problem. Once they arrived I removed the old worn leaf springs and replaced them without much trouble at all. Back to safe trailering. Thanks etrailer for the help.

I purchased the 3000# axle springs and all mounting hardware to replace the old ones on my 1963 travel trailer. My trailer no longer leans to the left and goes down the road better than new. I should have done it many year ago. I received my package on time and installation was easy and fit perfect. Thanks Bridget

I completed construction of a mobile bandsaw mill and found the springs on the mobile home axle I used were much to strong. I believe they were rated for 6,000 pounds and did not flex with the light load of the bandsaw mill. The SP-210275 were a perfect fit for my need. Shipping was very quick and other than needing to purchase longer "U" bolts, I was able to simply remove the old springs and bolt the new springs right into place. Very satisfied with this purchase and installation.

by:

I discovered that I needed to fit the holes in the bottom of my axle onto the studs on the springs before tightening the hardware fastening the springs to the rear shackles and front hangers.

by:

With the outstanding help from Tommy at etrailer.com, I was able to purchase the right axle, hubs, spring and tires the first time. Everything arrived in good condition, went together like a dream. I was impressed with the quality of product and service.

Good shipping quick and quality product

Super fast shipping great part

by:

The spring arrived earlier than I thought it would. Looks like it will fit and do the job. I purchased the leaf spring as an emergency back up in case on breaks on the Trailer. E Trailer hasn't let me down.

by:

Great description of part. It was exactly what i needed. Arrived earlier than expected and i really appreciated being informed throughout the shipping process. This is my go to site from now on. Thank you very much.

Hello,I would like to say I am very satisfied with etrailer.com shipping was fast, price was great, now I'm ready to go catch them bass .

by:

The product was correct but the ordering was next to imposible. It took weeks longer than necessary. It wasn't until I was refered to Mgmt. that my order was resolved, gratefully. All in all the 2 day project took 3 weeks. Still upset a year later.

Easy installation dose what I need it to do.

Product has worked just fine and hasn’t broken after using for a year. It has been loaded most of the time.

Great product! My first purchase from etrailer but it won't be my last! etrailer seems to have everything you would need for your RV or trailer. Waited until the last minute to pick up an extra leaf spring for my trip to Alaska. Fast shipping got it here in plenty of time. Thanks!

Great service. I know that I needed to do something to my trailer but I had no idea where or how to get the right parts Everything was too rusty to find any part numbers. I sent them a few pictures and gave them the measurement that they asked for and in about 30 mins I had a complete parts list of what I needed. When I got the parts everything was correct and fit great. Will defiantly be ordering from them again. Preston, and Jessica B were very helpful....

I rebuilt my little 5x8 utility trailer with parts from you guys and its been holding strong. Thanks for all the help. I went into this build without knowing much about suspension and you guys were a big help at getting the right parts.

by:

All Parts arrived as ordered and their quality and type is as expected, thank you.

However, I would suggest better packaging when shipping leaf springs. The loose nature of the packaging seems to have caused the leaf springs to puncture the box causing a 2 day delay in shipping and the potential loss of my other items.

Great. Theyve been under the boat and holding it up just fine

by:

Replaced a older set on a trailer with no specs. Bought the length closest to what I had, but a higher weight capacity. Replaced the axle to a 3500 lb one too. Have more confidence in the trailer now and I know it's a lot safer. How do these compare to others? I don't know. It's very hard to find these things locally and few sites have as good videos as etailer. These guys seem to know their stuff. There was lots of specs on these items at this website so I felt confident planning and executing the trailer upgrade.

by:

The springs arrived quickly and they were an exact fit. Installed in about 1 1/2 hrs. Thank you very much

by:

Well, I just got the parts, so can't say anything reliable on chinese made parts.
The price was(is) Great! a boat load cheaper then the local store....humm.

springs fit perfectly, however, the springs I wanted are no longer being offered, could of had springs made but I went with the less$isMore theory. (more in my pocket)

The "white" nylon bushings I ordered would not fit into the equalizers, but the grey colored ones I had did fit perfectly, just a-hair difference in outer diameter.

The bolts fit perfectly as well.

It is always 10 times easier dealing with eTrailer then the local store, So I know eTrailer has put a lot of time into making it easy for their customers, Thanks!

Very Fast shipping, all at a price I can afford!

by:

Thank you etrailer!

The shipment
arrived sooner than expected, the leaf springs along with a hanger kit arrived in a heavy duty box with very good packaging. As for the leaf springs they're heavy duty thicker gauge compared to the ones currently on my utility trailer. With beefing up my suspension I'll be able to raise my box and carry a heavier load with my current axle.

by:

The price was right and shipping was fast, and the video on measuring made it easy to be sure I was ordering the right part for my trailer. What's not to like? The only mistake I made was in not ordering all the hardware (U-Bolt kit, shackle bolts, and shackle straps) all at the same time. Although the videos say these parts can be reused, mine were rusty enough that they were really hard to get apart and then back together, even though they were only a year old.

by:

It was the perfect size and fit right up. I bought it for my 1963 2 horse trailer with random axels and it worked great. Thank you.

Worked and fit great, I’m sure it will continue to work great for years to come. I love the fact that you took the time to follow up.

by:

The leaf springs arrived and look excellent. The shipping and customer service has been top notch.

One note, the retention bolt on the bottom of each spring is slightly larger that the bolts were on the old springs (1964 Shasta travel trailer). Accordingly, I'll have to drill out the bolt hole on the axel leaf spring seat to accommodate the new bolt size. Otherwise, smooth sailing.

Purchased double eye 27" 4 leaf spring as a replacement on double axel boat trailer. Product matched description, affordable. Great customer service. Arrived early.
Would be nice if bottom leaf was extended width, to incorporate thru holes for U-Bolts to mount the springs to the axel.

  • Replacement Leaf Spring For 1998 Boat Trailer Carrying 18-Ft Bass Boat
The best fit when replacing leaf springs on a trailer is to know what the trailer and axle capacity is. There may be a plate or sticker that has that information listed. We offer one single leaf spring, part # e46SR, and it is designed for 6,000 axles. It has a measurement of 25-1/4 inches eye center-to-center. If you are measuring the spring after it has been taken off the trailer it may have flattened a bit over time. As far as the leaves in the leaf spring, we may have one that...

  • Should the Space Between Tandem Axle Trailer Tires Be the Same On Both Sides of the Trailer
Is there more weight on one side of the trailer? If so, you would want to make sure the load is distributed evenly from side to side. Are you on level ground when you measured the distance between the tires? If not, that would cause one side of the suspension to have more of a load on it. I would measure the distance between the spring hangers on both sides just to make sure the problem is the springs and not where they are attached on your trailer. • Should Trailer Leaf Springs Have Higher Capacity Than Axles
I recommend keeping the springs rated for 7,000 pounds if your trailer's axles are rated for the same. You have to keep in mind that a portion of the trailer's weight (Likely 10 to 15 percent) is on the hitch and therefore the tow vehicle's rear axle and not on the trailer axels. If you use 9,000 pound springs and overrate them you're likely to have a rough, stiff ride. Springs are rated by the axle capacity. The leaf springs for 3,500 pound axles are: # e59SR which are 23-1/8 inches...

The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 23-1/2" # SP-113275 is rated for 1,000lbs each, and since there are two springs per axle the weight capacity would be 2,000lbs per axle. This would not be sufficient for your 5,500lb trailer so you would want a heavier duty leaf spring. I see you ordered 4 of these leaf springs which tells me you likely have a tandem 2 axle trailer. This means each leaf spring must be rated for a minimum of 1,375lbs to be sufficient for a 5,500lb...

Yes, you will need to replace the hangers as well since there will be a 1/4" gap. It's possible the weight of your trailer and boat is more than the capacity of the leaf springs you installed which is causing them to fail. Most 20 ft pontoon boats weigh around 2,200 lbs so it's very likely with the weight of your boat and the weight of the trailer you are exceeding that figure.
