Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Slipper leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. The eye of this spring will attach to the front hanger with a suspension bolt. The flat slipper end of the spring will slide into the rear hanger. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the slipper end will slide into the equalizer that connects multiple springs. The shape of the slipper end of a leaf spring may vary slightly due to differences among trailer manufacturers. Because of this, it's important to check your leaf spring's slipper end before purchasing a replacement spring.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, a suspension bolt, and possibly a spring keeper bolt, depending on the design of the rear hanger. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer, but it would be wise to replace the bolts as they can experience wear. It is also recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

  • How Much Distance Should I Have Between The Tire And The Trailer Frame?
I can certainly point you in the right direction. I will start by saying that our "rule of thumb" is that we want at least 1" of clearance between the tire and the trailer frame. With the hub face currently at 48", you will want to go with an axle that is at least 50" hub face, if not a bit longer. 54" would be acceptable, but we would not want to go longer than that.   Unfortunately, we do not offer any axles that will be close to this size. Our shortest round tube axle is 60" hub face....

  • Replacement Slipper Spring For a Boat Trailer With 4-Leaf Spring 25.5" Long
The closest size we have to a 25.5" slipper spring is 24-5/8". Do understand that this may be the correct size for your application since as leaf springs sag and get flatter they also get longer in length. Also the amount of leaves a spring uses does not always account for the weight they can carry so be sure to check your boat trailers axle capacity and match it to the correct springs. 2-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 1,000-lb Trailer Axles # e36SR 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius...

  • Can I Replace Leaf Springs With Lower Rating For Better Ride Quality
Yes, you can swap from the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 1,500-lb Trailer Axles - 24-5/8" Long # e99SR to the 2-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 1,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-5/8" Long # e36SR to help reduce how much shock is being transferred to your trailer frame. My only caution going this route is to make sure you don't overload the leaf springs since you're reducing their weight rating. Attached is a review video for you to check out.

  • Is There Difference in Quality Between 1,500 lb 3-Leaf Slipper Spring e99SR & SP-178275
There really is not any type of quality difference between the two slipper springs: - 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 1,500-lb Trailer Axles - 24-5/8" Long # e99SR & # SP-178275 They both have the same measurements, steel construction, and nylon bushing in the spring eye. I'd honestly go with the least expensive option to save yourself some money. Also, I do recommend new bolts when mounting springs, the Spring-Eye Bolt with Locknut for Slipper Springs - 3-1/2" Long # 166079.

  • Availability of a Slipper Spring with Radius End and 1,500LB Axle Capacity With a Length of 26"
The only 1-3/4" wide slipper spring we are going to have with a radius end rated for 1,500lbs is the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring # e99SR you found. If you cannot find the correct size you may have to move your Hanger # CE14017G to use these shorter springs.

  • How to Verify The 3-Leaf Slipper Spring # e99SR Will Replace the Spring on the Trailer.
To verify the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring # e99SR will fit your trailer you will need to take the weight off your current leaf spring so you can compare it with the measurements. Please see the image below to know where to measure and know the lengths A, B and F could be different depending on how much the spring sags. This leaf spring is 1-3/4" wide. A: 11" B: 22-3/4" C: 24-5/8" D: 12" E: 14-1/2" F: 4" If you find your measurements are different please let me know what you find so I can...

  • Replacing 24-1/4" Slipper Springs On A 4x6 Carry On Trailer
Hello JT, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the 24-5/8" long 3-Leaf Slipper Spring # e99SR will indeed work to replace your 24-1/4" long springs. When replacing leaf springs there is a small amount of tolerance, and a 3/8" difference is not going to throw off your suspension or anything. Just keep in mind these springs are for a 1,500 lb axle and each spring is rated for 750 lbs so please just be aware of this and make sure your don't overload the springs.

  • Quantity Included On The 3-Leaf Slipper Spring with Radius End # e99SR
The 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End # e99SR comes with one single spring. You will have to purchase two to complete the axle. This spring has a measurement of 24-5/8 inches from center of spring eye to center of spring eye. The spring is for a 1,500 pound axle capacity. It has a sturdy steel construction and the nylon bushings are included. I attached a review video link below.

  • Does 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End Require a Bushing for Rear of Spring
For the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End # e99SR you only need the bushing on the one end, the other end will either sit over a bolt or will fit into a hanger like part # 115706S. If you have a double-eye spring on your trailer then you'll need something like the 25-1/8" Long 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e66SR instead. Attached are some videos for you to check out as well.

  • Should Leaf Springs on Trailer Sit Totally Level
Ideally the leaf springs sit as level as possible. If they are going to angle at all you would want the front maybe a little higher than the rear but perfectly level is the most ideal. I would recommend using the mounting holes that allow it to sit totally level.

  • Does Trailer Need to be Jacked Up to Measure Leaf Spring for Replacement
Jacking up the trailer frame to get the load off of the leaf spring is needed to get accurate dimension of spring for replacement. It would seem unlikely that your spring would be 24.5 inches if when there's a load it's 26 inch but you never really know. You will also need to know the axle capacity of your trailer as well.
