Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a red LED tail light. Now this trailer tail light serves three different functions. You have your stop light, which will be for your brakes. Tail light, or running light function, and then also your turn signal light. This can be mounted horizontally or vertically. It features a weatherproof housing and lens unit that's very strong and durable. Protects the LED's from dirt and moisture.
It contains a total of 20 diodes, or LED's. LED's make replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter, and they're much more efficient. With LED's you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. When it comes to the wiring, it's a three wire design, so white wire is for ground, black wire's for the tail or running lights, and then the red wire is for stop and turn.
It's SAE and Department of Transportation compliant, and it's a surface mounted installation, so you have two mount holes, mounting hardware not included, but it does mount directly on the surface of the trailer. These mount holes are separated on center by 11 and a half inches. The overall length of the unit, measuring edge to edge is 12 and five-eighths inches long. Measuring this direction, this will be the height. It's an inch and a half, and the overall depth is about three-quarter inches deep. We're going to go and hook it up to power. That way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it.
We'll also be able to turn off our overhead light, so you can see it in a lower light setting. Again, white wire, that is our ground wire. Black wire is for the running lights. And red is for brake and turn signal. So here's the running lights. Nice consistent signal, and we've got our brakes, and then we also have our turn signal.
Again, this has a total of 20 LED's, so the multi-diode design really helps optimize the overall light output. That's going to do it for today's look at the red LED tail light.

12-3/4" Low-profile, LED tail light displays brake, tail, and turn signals on your RV that's under 80" wide. It mounts on the surface of the motorhome and hardwires with the included pigtail harness. This light fits my needs perfectly. I had previously purchased several less expensive lights from Amazon but was greatly disappointed as they would not function correctly.
4 stars for overall experience.
- I ordered these tail lights to replace the 25 year old ones on my utility trailer.
They were not in stock and I had to wait a week for them to ship which didn't really bother me too much as I was on vacation that week.
- The box shipped UPS and had arrived at the closest hub 5 days ago (13 miles away). When I didn't get the package as of yesterday, I checked and it had been scanned from UPS to USPS.... why???? I don't know, but it delayed the shipping another couple of days.
- I opened the box tonight to check out my new lights and was shocked to see that the packaging for the lights did not tell you anywhere on them which wire (white, black or red) was for brake, tail or ground. :( Thankfully E-trailer tells you that on the web page.
