This one is for the “driver” side. It has the lens on the bottom for lighting the license plate. (It does not include the license plate holder. I like this one because you just push in the wires. I recommend this light.

No worries

The Igor worked great. I had a heck of a time trying to order lights for the trailer - either not getting the ones I intended getting or mismatched lights. But you came through like me a champ. Thanks.

They are still on and I assume they are still working. Parked the trailer in storage after I put the lights on and have only been out to put the new license plate sticker on.

by:

Great Product, it's good quality and will fit perfectly for the trailer I use in my Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Business. The only problem is I ordered the wrong side. Wasn't sure if by the which one was the left or the right? I was looking at the trailer form the front when I determined it was the left one but it appears your suppose to look at the back of the trailer when you do that. Guess I will be ordering the otherside here shortly. Maybe I can get an exchange or if not then I will have a spare and hope if it does get broken again it's the other side. Etrailer has some really good quality stuff at a very good price. I got my hidden hitch from them at a Great Price. They even had a video that showed me how to install it. A couple of the local places here wanted 3 times the amount of what I paid to provide the hitch and install it for me. Will never go anywhere else for any trailer parts or accessories.

by:

We purchased a replacement combo tail light. It arrived on time, in good condition and was the exact replacement.
Although it does not really show on our trailer, we have attached a picture since the trailer has a unique use. It's a small landscaper's trailer converted to a mobile radio broadcasting studio.

by:

Did the job and good quality.

by:

Excellent replacement. Looks like original ones and simple to install. Tried to replace bulbs in old one's they would not hold contact and bulbs were almost as much as the replacement I saved time and anguish by just replacing the old ones

by:

Been about a year and all good so far.

by:

Last project built. Used etrailer for almost all parts, including the taillight. Friend wants one now so started another one. I will be getting all the parts from etrailer...

by:

These light were a good replacement set for my Home Depot Snowbear trailer taillights. Best price I found for this or similar was here at etrailer.com.

Pic is not of my own trailer but is the same model. You can see the configuration of the taillights.

by:

I ordered both the ST9RB and ST8RB. After years of use, my other boat trailer lights were starting to cause me problems. I decided to order new ones for each side. These are a different make, but the connections were the same as were the mounting holes. Just took minutes to mount and both worked great. Nice bright lights again! Good price and fast shipping. I would definitely order again.

Other than changing a bulb, they are still working like new! Money well spent.

by:

Lights were a perfect replacement for existing (busted) trailer lights. These lights did not contain wires, but had well-marked jacks to insert existing wires into. Installed in less than 30 minutes, tested - working great.

After a year, lights still working great. They stay out in elements year-round.

by:

etrailer.com had exactly what I needed. I bought a replacement for a broken trailer stop, turn, tail and license plate light for my bar-b-que trailer and it matched the other side perfectly. It was packaged very well. I'll be a repeat customer.

by:

Exactly what I needed to replace broken tail light on my trailer. It was an exact match so was able to salvage some parts from old one ... just in case. As I recall, the price was fair and delivered in good time.

I have no complaints ... only praise.

Would highly recommend.

Great company!
I received my order
promptly, unfortunately the box and contents had been smashed during shipping. After contacting customer service via e-mail, e-trailer arranged for a replacement in no time. I will definitely buy from you again when I'm in the market for trailer parts.

Thanks e-trailer!

Great

by:

Worked well for the intended use on a light duty trailer that is not heavily used. The internal contacts are less robust than I would like but they are OK for the intended use.

James L.

7/24/2020

As stated before, the internal electrical contacts are rather weak. After around 4 months the contact with the wire was lost on the brake light circuit, Had to solder the feed wire to the contact to get it to work again.

by:

Item arrived quickly and was well packaged. It is an easy install, simply strip the end of your trailer wires and feed them into the appropriately labeled spring contact (Stop / Turn or Tail ) that will automatically seat the wire in place. Removal of wire is done by using something like a toothpick to push on the spring contact thru a small hole below the wire to relieve tension and slip the wire back out. Like some speaker connections. Both lights worked first time.

by:

The lights worked great and were easy to install. The price was fair for the value of the product. I would purchase from etrailer.com again if the need arises.

Barry

I remain very happy with the lights and wiring.

by:

They WORK!! After trying to retro-fit some old taillights I had laying around, I bought and installed these on my trailer. I should have my head examined for not starting out with these lights for the solution to my situation.

  • Replacement for Old Trailer Square Tail Light 4-5/8" x 4-5/8"
I might have an option for you but without more detail, like a photo, it would just be a guess. That said, the size you mentioned is pretty common more or less for square trailer tail lights like the Optronics Combination Trailer Tail Light part # ST8RB for passenger or part # ST9RB for driver. If this is what yours looks like, I recommend using these as the two stud mounting pattern is pretty standard so don't get bogged down in the small dimensional differences. • Are the ST8RB and ST9RB Submersible Lights
I have a solution for you, but neither the # ST8RB nor # ST9RB are submersible lights. Instead, you'll want to use the # ST6RB and # ST7RB - which are the submersible versions of those lights. These are still incandescent tail lights that look exactly the same, have the same dimensions and are the same 2 wire electrical system, they're just sealed up so that they can be safely used on boat trailers.

  • Replacement Square Stud Mount Trailer Lights for Utility Trailer
The Combination Trailer Tail Light part # ST9RB for driver side or part # ST8RB for passenger side is just what you need to replace the tail lights on a utility trailer. The lights mount via two studs which are 2" apart so they will be a direct replacement. In regards to installation, the lights ground though the studs so you only need to attach the stop/turn and running light wires for each side.

  • What Does Shock Proof Socket Mean for Trailer Lights?
As you mentioned, some of the trailer lights like the Optronics Trailer Stop, Turn, Tail and License Plate Light, 7-Function, Left Hand # ST9RB state that they have a shock proof socket. The manufacturer specifically makes the housing so that the socket has a little bit of play for vibration and road shock built in and they term that a shock proof socket. It just ensures the socket isn't mounted so rigid that the bulb has no give and shatters. This vibration dampening design helps the...

  • How to Connect Trailer Wiring to Optronics # ST8RB and # ST9RB Trailer Tailllights
If you have the Optronics # ST8RB and # ST9RB, no connector is needed. On the back of the taillight, there is a hole for the stop/turn and a hole for the running light wire. Each of these holes will have a smaller hole directly below it. Strip back the insulation on the wire by about a 1/4 inch, twist the copper strands of each wire tightly and push it into the hole in the back of the lamp as you're pushing a small screwdriver into the smaller hole. Once the wire is fully inserted, remove...

The quick connect feature on the Optronics Light, part # ST8RB, and part # ST9RB, means that you can connect the wires by inserting them into the four holes on the back of the light. It is not referring to a separate part. The wires would be stripped about 1/4 inch and pushed into the correct hole on the back of the trailer light. • Preferred Method of Grounding Trailer Lighting Circuits
Running a direct ground up to the trailer tongue or junction box would certainly work, but the only time I'd see that as being necessary is if the lamps were connected to a non metallic structure or a metallic structure that wasn't directly connected to the trailer frame. When wiring Trailer Stop, Turn, Tail and License Plate Light, # ST9RB, how you wire it depends on the type of wiring harness you have on the trailer. If you are using a 4-Way flat that includes one tail light wire, you will need to attach a jumper wire to go from one light to the other for running lights like you have described.
