Before installing these tail lights on my boat trailer, I touched the power wire and ground wire to the terminals on my truck battery. Even though this model light has only 1 LED, it is brighter, at least 2X, than the older style, single, incandescent bulb trailer lights that I am replacing. Plus no need to "monkey around" with the incandescent bulb to remove corrosion, readjust for better contact or replace because it burned out when some water seeped in around the lense.

by:

Listed as submersible but there is a big opening in the back where the wiring enters the fixture and no obvious drain so it would seem that water would be trapped inside. Can't tell if there are internal seals that would prevent water from getting to the circuitry but even if there are internal seals, trapping water (saltwater in my case) inside the light fixture seems like a bad idea.
I hope I'm wrong and that these taillights are really submersible despite the opening in the back, but it sure didn't look like it to me.
I've sealed the openings as best I can and will hope for the best.

by:

LED light was a perfect fit and easy install. In attached photo LED is on right and incandescent on left in photo (daylight photo was darkened to show lights better). The photo doesn't show it clearly, but both my wife and I believe it is slightly brighter than the incandescent bulb. I have had some trouble in the past with the incandescent bulb not making contact. This should not be a problem with the LED bulb.

My Son picked up the trailer today to use and the tail lights were working fine. Very bright.

by:

So, I rewired my trailer to not have any wiring connections underwater during a launch operation. To accomplish this, I placed the "etrailer" tail lights and brackets on existing guideposts, then using two "shielded electrical extension cords" I routed them from the tail lights to the trailer hitch plug-in connector.

by:

Lamp came 2 days earlier than expected, and well packed. Tracking my part was extremely easy and accurate. Would not buy trailer parts anywhere else!!

by:

100% satisfied.

So simple to hookup!
I smashed the driver
side rear light when a tie-down snapped and my dirt bike fell on it. First day of a 2 week vacation. The next day I got online and ordered LED replacements for both side. I wasn't sure about how long it would take, and unfortunately etrailer doesn't provide any information about shipping times for the various options. I ordered it with USPS delivery to the house we are renting on a lake.
I thought it might take 4 or 5 days. Boy was I surprised when I got an email for USPS saying they couldn't find my name or address and had sent it back. The name I could understand, but the address? I have received many packages at this address over the years. I even Googled it and it showed up just fine. The day before I received another package.
SO no I was concerned that I couldn't get it in time to replace before we left for home. I discussed my problem with George. He checked the tracking info and confirmed the parts were on their way back, so he reordered and suggested we just use Ground. I mentioned to him that I was nervous about the time, and before I could call (to early in the morning) I had gone on another online retailer knowing they could deliver to this address. I was surprised to find the exact same pair of lights, both cheaper and free delivery. George said etrailer had a price matching program, and if I could send him the other online retailer info he would refund the difference.

The parts arrived right about the time I was told, and it took me perhaps 30 minutes to rewire and test. Nice bright lights, much better than the original. Thank you once again etrailer, I love your company!

1 year later: went to use the trailer for vacation and one of the lights wasnt functioning consistently. After much troubleshooting it turned out that I had an intermittent connection to ground. I then remembered that one of the nuts had fallen off and I replaced it but didnt have a lock washer so used a flat washer then applied silicone sealer as a thread locker. At the time, I didnt pay attention to the fact that this was the ground connection. I swapped the star lock washer from the other side, reapplied the thread locker, no more issues. I am using the trailer lights on a trailer in a bag trailer that breaks down into 5 pieces and has NO suspension. I assume that can lead to more vibration which resulted in the nut coming loose. Now that I have fixed the problem, I expect continued good results. I wrote this update to perhaps help others who may have run into a similar issue. Love the product, great trailer lights, REALLY GREAT COMPANY!

by:

Well made. nice and bright.

by:

Another great product form etrailer works as stated and I love this company online easy to order, fast delivery and easy to install by DIY people. If further information is needed simply go online to view videos and it steps you right through the process this will allow me easy of comfort of no more bulbs bouncing around during travel and causing lights not work with LED they stay in place with this unit being sealed unit to prevent moisture & loose bulbs...

Everything is working perfect and thank you for the follow up. I will be buying more when the time comes that I need something you carry and I recommend you to all of my friends and colleagues

by:

Good light and easy to install

by:

Drop in replacement for my old lights. 10+ year old trailer and the original lights were coming apart and the sockets were starting to corrode.

Still working great!

by:

Good Exact fit for my Carry On car haul er

by:

Fast and quick delivery, but housing was a little beat up and the side marker lens was cracked. Needed better packaging.

by:

Excellent!! Normally the lens begin to discolor the first year, but the lens covers are still bright red. Also, no issues on the install.

by:

Great selection , quick delivery

by:

These are a bolt-on replacement for the stock lights on my Lowes 5x8 trailer. I got two of the "passenger" lights, because I moved the license plate to the back ramp/gate, and I got a separate license plate light for that. These lights work very well - I used heat shrink tubes with a low temp solder ring in them, to splice the connections to the stock wiring.

by:

Haven't tried them on the road yet, but these seem well made. The edges of the lenses are flush and there isn't even any molding flash. I tested them and holy heck are they bright! Someone would have to be blind to miss the brake lights on these.

The studs are the same spacing as the round incandescent tail light units that used to be pretty popular on utility trailers.

The back of the light has a color code guide (a very nice touch) and notes that the mounting studs are the ground return. Not mentioned is that there's also a white wire (the one with the ring lug) in case you don't want to rely on the chassis ground. Personally I recommend having a continuous ground wire for your trailer lights; chassis grounds can be unreliable, especially in a corrosive environment.

by:

Much better than the trailer's original tail lights which occasionally did not work because of a poor connection inside the light housing. These are brighter with an improved connection to the harness.

by:

These lights were an exact match to my previous lights. They were trouble free to install, though they could use a couple more inches of lead wire in my opinion. That wouldn't prevent me from buying them again. etrailer is among the best online retailers I've ever used. They provide the end user with lot's of product information as well as great installation instructions and videos. You know both what you're getting AND how to install it.

by:

The tail lights that came on our boat trailer were the $1.95 incandescent variety. They quit working after the first season. Replaced them with these sealed LED units and they have worked fine ever since.

by:

Well it is red, an LED tail light, and it works just fine. What else could someone want? A very fine price, and it was. So if you need to rewire your hauling, auto, or other trailer, I recommend this product. etrailer also has kits to do the whole trailer.

by:

They work. Question is for how long? Submersible tail lights don't seem to last too many years.

It is important to note that there is a Lifetime warranty on these LEDs and a 3-year limited warranty on housing, lenses, and wiring.

by:

Product arrived in good condition and was as described. Expedited shipping that I requested and originally paid for was not fulfilled and the package arrived later than promised. When I requested a refund of the expedited shipping charge etrailer refunded the charge immediately without question and I was charged the normal ground rate shipping instead. As I have come to expect with etrailer customer service was top notch and I was made whole when expectations were not met. This is what keeps me coming back.

by:

Perfect match to other side on boat trailer only LED .
Hooked up and worked fine. Not as bright as most LEDs but way better than old style bulbs that break and corrode .

by:

Product and service brilliant.
One
the big things in service have been sorted, eg. good product, value for money (not cheapest) delivered in good condition in a predicted timeframe, it's the little things like an email with tracking url that has ALL the information you need... WITHOUT HAVE TO TYPE IN A TRACKING NUMBER , NAME, ZIP ETC. And same with review, click on a url in an email and enter your comments with pictures .....SIMPLE. so many other companies just make these types of things too complicated and onerous for the customer to provide feedback. Also each person in the process is named! Brilliant, personal and just nice. I wish you guys were responsible for all of my transactions for all the things I buy online. Thank you to all of you at retailer fantastic job.

  • Will Optronics Trailer Taillight # STL008RB Fit Peterson Light Mounting Brackets
If you have Peterson lights currently that look like the Optronics taillights part # STL008RB then the mounting brackets you have now will work just fine as these were made to be basically an exact replacement. We don't have any L-brackets though but instead you could go with the CE Smith trailer tail light protector part # CE26051A to mount it to your trailer.

  • Can Trailer Light With Green and Brown Wire Be Replaced with Light with Additional White Wire
Your old assemblies grounded the lighting circuit through the mounting hardware and the lights you are looking at, # STL008RB, ground with a ground wire strap. So you'd need to run the white wire back to the mounting stud of the light or to the frame of your trailer and it will function properly.

  • How to Replace Trailer Lights with the ONE LED Trailer Tail Light
In order to receive a pair of the ONE LED Trailer Tail Lights you would want to use part # STL008RB for the passenger and part # STL009RB for the driver side. I also recommend using butt connectors for installation which can be found using part # DW05744-5. I have attached a review/install video on these lights for you as well.

  • Taillights to Replace Existing Wesbar 50010 on Ez Loader Trailer
According to Wesbar, that lamp was discontinued around 2000 or so. Unfortunately, you'll need to replace the lamps but the good news is that Optronics makes a direct replacement LED lamp not terribly expensive. I'd recommend going with # STL008RB for the passenger side and # STL009RB for the driver's side. The LED lamps are fully sealed, so they'll be great for marine use. LED's draw a fraction of the power that incandescent bulbs do, and they are brighter and last MUCH longer.

  • Can the Optronics Passenger Side Trailer Light Be Used on the Drivers Side
You can use the Optronics LED 5-function passenger side tail light # STL008RB on the drivers side but you will want to install it upside down because of the side marker light. But because of the designs of the lenses, if the light is installed upside down, it could affect how the light looks, therefore the visibility of the light. For a nominal cost though, you could get the Optronics LED 5-function drivers side tail light # STL009RB. I included a couple video reviews and a helpful article...

  • LED Replacement Trailer Taillights for Peterson 440-15R
The Peterson lights like the part # 432200 that you have are very standard in dimension. For an LED version of these all you'd need is the # STL009RB for the driver side and part # STL008RB for the passenger side. The mounting stud dimensions match too.

  • Trailer Tail Light Wiring Colors and Functions for Optronics Tail Lights STL009RB, and # STL008RB
You never want to wire anything up on a trailer based on color alone. This is because there is no official standard wire color/function used on trailers. On the lights that you purchased, # STL009RB, and # STL008RB, the green wire is right turn/brake lights, yellow is left turn/brake lights, brown is running lights, and white is ground. The bonded 4-Way you mentioned has the same functions per color listed above. The main trailer connector will need to be grounded to the frame as do each...

  • Recommended Amber Side Marker Light for Snowmobile Trailer
I highly recommend the Optronics Sealed, Mini Rectangular LED Trailer Clearance, Side Marker Light # MCL95AB. This is an LED light which is 2-1/8" long x 1-1/8" wide x 1-1/16" deep and mounts by plated steel stud on base of light. It has gotten close to 200 reviews from our customers who have used it and a nearly 5-star review. I've added a link to a review video of the light for you to take a look at.

  • Connecting the Brown Wire for Running Lights
Since you mention that you have a single function light like the LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light, # MCL45RB, this will act solely as a brake light/turn signal, clearance or running light. If this light's purpose is to act as a running light and set up with power in left corner and ground in right corner, you will connect the brown wire in the left hand corner and the white wire in the right corner. Using this type of light you will still need a separate light for your left...

  • Traditional Designed 4 Inch LED Trailer Taillight
Although none of our suppliers offers a lamp like the # 432000 you specified in an LED version, we do offer a traditional design stud mounted LED lamp that could work for you. I'd recommend the # STL008RB for the passenger and # STL009RB for the driver side. The lamps are a bit larger, at just about 5 x 4-1/2 inches x 3 inches deep. If you have the space available, these lamps would be a good choice. I've linked to a demonstration video you might find helpful.
