First set of submersible trailer light that have lasted the rigors of salt water. Highly recommend this product

by:

So far so good I have had these lights on for over a year now and have forgotten several times to unplug when launch or retrieving the boat it doesn't seem to effect the lights as they still work fine. Stop and signal is not that bright in daylight but shows up fine in dusk or night. It could be my angle of the trailer that causes this.

I know that's super frustrating to have to go through placing the order and waiting for it to arrive and then it turns out its the wrong thing, and then having to let us know and then having to go through whatever process to get the correct item sent. I can only chalk it up to human error plain and simple. I am glad to see our customer service team is sending you the correct part. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

The trailer light has been installed for 2 years now, and continues to functions flawlessly. The trailer is out in the SW desert environment and has shown no negative effect from the weather at all. A great product that works well.

Was exactly what I needed

by:

My Phone call to etrailer answered all my questions on these lights before I placed my order. shipping was right on time.(5days)

This light is a great up grade to the stocks lights that came with my new "Trailer in a Bag". I am looking forward to these LED's working well with all the bouncing road punishment a small trailer has.
I will report again once I have put on 500 trailer miles

by:

Sending you a pic of my lights I got from you and the hitch with the full wiring system. All works great. Thank you so much. Now it's time to go riding!!

by:

Still working great after one year on my off-road trailer.

by:

These lights were very easy to install, they look and work great, would recommend them for your trailer lights.

by:

Bought a set of these for my boat trailer. install was easy and look great

by:

This is the second pair that I have purchased for a PWC and dirt bike trailer. They are excellent. One of the lenses in the first pair was defective. I called Optronics and they immediately shipped me another. Excellent Tech Support. The lights are very bright and so easy to install. Be sure and secure the ground wire to the trailer frame against raw metal (un-painted and freshly ground), or the lights will not perform properly. Also, the washer provided goes on the fixture side of the trailer mount. Locking nuts secure the light on the opposite side with no washer.

I have since bought two more for my dirt bike trailer. These taillights are exceptional. They are very well made, easy to install and provide BRIGHT red light. I did have to return one of the lights which was defectivenew. You replaced it right away and I have had no further issues. I would highly recommend. Wish you had lights for my Toy FJ40LandCruiser.....

by:

They work as intended. Have to make sure of proper ground.

by:

I ordered the trailer lights on Mon and received them on Thursday. It took about a half hour to install them only because I had to drill holes for the ground wires that the other lights did not have. They are brighter than anticipated and work great. The old ones worked, but you could barely see them except at night. I am very pleased with the product and service (as usual). I have ordered a number of items from e-trailer and will continue to do so. The only problem was that I couldn't find the left hand light. When I called, they had the number for it instantly. Great service and speedy delivery. What more can you ask for. Thanks again.

These lights still work just like new I buy all my parts from etrailer and will continue to do so. The prices are cheaper than from my local big box hardware store.

by:

easy installation. led, gotta love the brightness!!

by:

Great quality for the money, easy insta l.

by:

These led's are better than several others I have tried, which all failed in a matter of weeks when exposed to saltwater. It has been about a year and all 20 of the main LED's (10 each light) are still working. However, the side marker lights both failed within a month or two. The lights should probably get 3 stars since the side marker lights failed quickly. Considering that 2 other sets (different brands) began failing one LED at a time immediately upon saltwater exposure, these have been far better, hence the 4 stars.

Joseph

After one year all 20 of the main LEDs 10 each light still work. The side marker lights failed quickly. In total, these have held up much better to regular saltwater exposure than other brands.

  • New Trailer Tail Lights Blow a Fuse and Cause Lights to Turn Off
The LED Submersible Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light, # STL8RB, comes with one wire for turn and brake functions (green) one wire for tail lights (brown) and a white wire as the ground. The ground wire will need to be attached to a clean and corrosion free metal surface on the trailer. A lot of trailers have tail lights that ground through the mounting studs. These types of lights will also need to be attached to a clean and corrosion free metal surface. A bad or absent ground could...

  • Troubleshooting LED Blinkers on Boat Trailer Not Working When Vehicle is Started
Since the blinkers work before starting the car and only fail to work once the vehicle is started there is only one thing I could possibly think would cause such a problem. I recommend checking your ground connection from your light installation. More often then not the ground is the problem when it comes to unexplainable wiring problems. Assuming you have lights like the Combination LED Trailer Tail Light - Submersible - 6 Function - 11 Diodes - Passenger Side # STL8RB you want to make...

  • With Vehicle Head Lights On Trailer Turn and Brake Lights Do Not Work
The problem you are having is indicative of a bad ground connection. Ground issues usually show up when there is more load on the system. In this case the constant draw of the running lights is causing too much power draw for the weak ground when you try to use another function. Make sure that the main trailer connector ground and the grounds for all of the lights are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Anything placed between a ground wire and the metal frame can...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights Where Turn Signals are Dimmer than Running Lights
Sounds like you have the circuits backwards and have the running light circuit ran to the stop/turn circuit of your trailer lights and then have the stop/turn circuits of the trailer ran to the running light circuit of the taillight. Try just swapping those two connections and the problem will be fixed.

  • How Does Trailer Wiring with Two Wires Attach to Single Wire Light Assembly
You'd need to determine the positive and negative wires of the assembly and then connect them accordingly to your trailer. The ground would need to run to the mounting hardware of assembly and the other would run to your trailer's power wire.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Light Assembly that Doesn't Get Brighter with Blinker/Stop Light
Sounds like the brighter stoplight/turn signal function of your taillight isn't working. This is typically caused by the running light circuit of the trailer wiring being ran to the stop/turn circuit of the light wiring. Make sure the stop/turn circuit is ran to the green wire (if you have the STL8RB) and not the brown wire which would be the running light circuit. Also verify that the stop/turn circuit is making it back to the assembly and that a short isn't taking preventing the circuit...

  • What Could Cause LED Light Bars to Turn Off and On When Bumped
Try jiggling the wiring that runs to the lights first. Hopefully that causes the lights to come on or off and the issue is as simple as a wiring connection that's not fully secure. If that's not it and it's an LED setup the solution will be to replace the assemblies as it's a loose wire somewhere in the diodes.

  • Replacement LED Submersible Tail Light Recommendation for One that Fell Off
The LED Submersible Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light # STL8RB that you referenced would work as a replacement right-hand (passenger side) trailer light. This light attaches with the mounting studs on the back of the assembly with the included nuts. I attached a review video and an FAQ article on trailer wiring for you to check out as well. If your trailer lights look differently than the # STL8RB email me back with a picture and I'd be more than happy to help you.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lighting on Side of Trailer that Is Much Dimmer for Stop/Turn
The ground for the light assemblies on the left side of the truck is weak which is preventing them from being able to illuminate fully. Try improving the ground and you should see them work again. You can run a wire from the assembly back to the main ground of the trailer or you can clean where the trailer light attaches to the frame and that will help as well.

  • Can Tow Vehicle with LED Lights Connect with Trailer that has Incandescent Lights
Assuming the lights and wiring on your older trailer are in good condition you will not have any issues connecting with and powering its standard incandescent lights with a tow vehicle that is equipped with LED lights. The difference in light assemblies used on the vehicle and trailer will not cause any problems with function or power. If you can tell me the year, make, and model of your tow vehicle I will be happy to recommend a trailer wiring harness if you don't already have one installed.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer LEDs that Don't Work that Are Replacing Incandescent Bulbs
If you tested the LEDs and they work when they have power and ground the problem has to be the wiring of the trailer. Since previous lights worked there it would seem that the problem may be somehow ground related. Some assemblies ground through their hardware and other ground through a wire. I attached a couple help articles that might be informative as well.

  • LED Trailer Light Recommendation to Reduce Amperage Draw and Prevent Converter Burn Up
It is very possible that you are overdrawing the taillight converter you have installed on your race car trailer and that is why it is burning up. The easiest fix would be to go to LED trailer lights as they put a fraction of the amperage draw on the trailer wiring when compared to an incandescent. • Troubleshooting Right Blinker/Stop Light Not Functioning on a Trailer
The first thing I would do is check the ground on the right tail light assembly. The ground may not be strong enough to carry the amperage. You will want to make sure the ground is attached to a clean metal surface or if the assembly grounds through the mounting hardware you will want to make sure that surface is a clean metal surface too. Since you have voltage at the connector you know the problem lies somewhere between the connector on the trailer and the light assemblies. Most likely...

  • Will Water Get Into LED Trailer Tail Light # STL8RB and Short Out the Light
The LED trailer light # STL8RB is submersible meaning that water can get in but the lights are sealed so the water will not short them out. If you were to seal up all the holes in the back of the light then no water could get in at all and it would not be an issue. Since the lights are sealed on the inside water would not be an issue either way.

You would be totally fine to use the Combination LED Trailer Tail Light # STL8RB on both the driver and passenger side of your trailer. You'd just need to flip it over like you mentioned and you'd be fine. It will function the same installed on either side. The only reason there's a driver and passenger side is that the driver side typically has a license plate light on the bottom of it.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Right Blinker that Flashes All of Trailer Lights
Sounds like your right turn/stop circuit is shorted out to your running light circuit which is causing all of your trailer lights to flash when you apply the right turn signal. To add an extra tail light to your trailer, I recommend using a Trailer Tail Light like the Optronics # STL8RB. You will simply splice the wires into the existing tail light wiring of your trailer. The white wire will be grounded, the brown wire is for the tail lights and the yellow wire is for the stop and turn lights. I have attached a video review...
