Put these on an old boat trailer. Came out great. I got some white 16 gage stranded wire to carry the ground out to each mounting place. Helps the lights stay on even when stuff gets rusty.

No problems

Ordered this with two new fenders for our Roadmaster RM3477 Tow Dolly. Both fenders had been destroyed due to blowouts. Replacing the fenders was easy and this wiring package made the lighting installation a snap. Highly recommended!

Seems to be good quality. Just installed them to replace some poor rigging by the person who owned the trailer previously.
I will change the nuts to neoprene locknut. I like they are made in the USA

This is an excellent product and simple to install. As long as you have a functioning plug-in on your vehicle you’ll be happy.
Time will tell how well it holds up to water and vibration

Bought these lights to mount on Hollywood e-bike rack because cover for bikes doesn’t allow tail lights on vehicle to shine through properly Ordered these and received product very fast considering Christmas and Covid backups Have not installed them yet but I know they will be a great fit Plenty of time to get everything mounted for our trip from Ny to Florida in February Thanks again etrailer

So overall I would recommend these! The product seems a little bit like "you get what you pay for." They don't seem to be of the highest quality but for the price, getting submersible trailer lights that are down and dirty and work, they seem great.
They are on my 4X8 utility trailer and they were easy to wire and install. They do come with wire nuts to make the wire connections and I replaced them with inline waterproof wire connectors but the wire nuts would have worked just fine. Again, overall, the kit had everything you would need to make these lights work.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you have a classic ground issue. These particular lights ground through the mounting studs so make sure they are attached to a clean bare metal surface.

Always very happy with products and ser vices!

Absolutely fastest shipping. Excellent quality and easy install. Used old wires to feed through frame and only took a couple of hours. Thanks for great merchandise.

This light kit worked perfectly on my trailer. Great service and fast shipping.

Excellent service as always. Made my re-wiring job as simple as could be.

Easy to install just follow the instruc tions.

We recently came across a trailer and jet skis. The wiring on the trailer did not work. Came to etrailer and found exactly what I needed. Will be ready to go come spring

Submersible? NO. First time the trailer was backed into the lake one of the stop light bulbs shattered.

Rewired my 8x4 bed trailer, and chose these fo mo betta rain proof. EZ wiring, they're working fine!

Ok, had an issue with the bulb socket for brake and turn signal. Those socket designs date back to the stone age. Hard to set the bulb for proper electrical contact. Badly needs an updated design.
Buffalo_BiL - 07/31/2019

Order arrived today safe and damage free. Great light and wiring kit for the price!

Exactly what I needed to “float my boat” again.

They look great but I have not hooked them up yet

Easy installation. Worked properly immediately. Use this video: In the video the guy extends the ground wire just a little bit and I found that I also needed to do that. He also uses separately purchased connectors and I chose to take his advice about them.

The Submersible, Under 80" Trailer Light Kit with 25' Wiring Harness kit that I purchased worked well for my application. I had an old, broken set of lights on my trailer. I found this kit from Optronics on etrailer and after reviewing the pictures, diagrams and information listed on your website, I knew this would be a great replacement for the OEM lights that came on the trailer. I received the kit in the time listed for my shipping selection and once I got the kit, I was able to install all of the lights and wires with ease. This is a great kit from Optronics and had all of the components I needed to make sure anyone behind me knows when I am stopping and turning. Thank you employees of etrailer for helping me get the product that I needed.

Thanks ETrailer for making my boat trailer restoration a success . I restored a 1960 boat trailer to look brand new with your help.

I love the Item I purchased, very easy to install and got it a very good price. Two years or so ago I bought a front mount trailer hitchfrom E-trailer and got the best price and free shipping which was incrdible. I will always buy my trailer/hitch needs from In fact I'm a retired NYC correction officer and attend union meetings as a retiree and will at the next meeting recommend to everyone there.. thanks for being a reliable company with the best prices on the net or anywhere else for that matter..

Good lights and harness should last a long time.

Everything easy install, perfect match.
fixtures and wiring.
Year later still great.

1 year later and all good. Very pleased with purchase.

While there was more here than I needed (the trailer was already wired, it just had broken lights), getting this package was the cheapest and best way to get what I needed...exact, drop in replacements. Shipping was quick...your service is outstanding. That is why I will be getting another package today (which I ordered the day after I ordered the lights), and is the reason I keep going back to Great prices, great service and if you ever have to talk with anyone they are the nicest people in the world. Thanks!

  • Difference Between Trailer Taillight Kits that are for Over 80 inches in Width and Under 80 inches
There are different taillight requirements for trailers that are over 80 inches in width vs. ones that aren't over 80 inches in width. If you check out the link I attached you will see all of these differenced highlighted. The over 80 inch kits like the part # TL16RK typically come with additional clearance lights when compared to the under 80 kits like the # TL5RK. I attached review videos for both kits for you to check out.

  • How to the Lights in Trailer Light Kit TL5RK Ground to the Trailer
The lights included with light kit # TL5RK ground through the mounting studs. The light grounds should also be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt the ground. Running jumper wires from the light grounds to the main trailer connector ground can help. It does sound like a weak ground connection....

  • Type of Wiring Harness that Comes with the Optronics Submersible Trailer Light Kit # TL5RK
The wiring harness that comes with the Optronics Submersible Trailer Light Kit, # TL5RK, is a wishbone wiring harness meaning there are 5 wires coming out of the back of the 4-pole flat connector. You will have one white wire for the ground, one yellow wire for the left turn and brake signals, one green wire for the right turn and brake signals and two brown wires for the tail lights. The reason there are two brown wires for the tail lights is to make it easier for you to run the wires...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a Trailer Less than 80 inches Towed by a 1992 Ford Explorer
The Optronics Trailer Light kit # TL5RK that you referenced would be an excellent choice for you and would work very well on your trailer towed by your 1992 Ford Explorer with the only exception is that the wiring is 18 gauge instead of 16 gauge like you said you preferred. I can assure you though that this wiring kit will work well for you and the amperage draw would not be too much for the wiring.

While the wires and portions of the internals of the Submersible, Under 80" Trailer Light Kit # TL5RK are exposed to water when the ligth is submerged all of the important parts of the light and circuits are sealed so nothing gets damaged. • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Lights that Work Intermittently
Since they work then stop working most likely you have dirty pins on your trailer connectors which is causing the connection to be intermittent.
