Optronics STL16/17 Series LED Combination Marine Tail Light Measurements

Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of these lights make them ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. Each circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.

Combination Lights for Trailers Over 80" Wide

Flatbed trailer over 80" wide with combination tail lights

If a trailer is 80" or wider at its widest point, then it requires rear clearance lights in addition to basic trailer lights. These clearance lights indicate the width of the trailer when it is viewed from the back.

To meet these requirements on a flatbed utility trailer where the bed extends past the wheels, you can install combination trailer lights that include the rear clearance function. For proper mounting, the lights must be installed at the widest points on the rear of the trailer - one on each corner.

P2-Rated or P3-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights - Submersible - 40 Diodes - Driver and Passenger Side - TLL160RK

The lights bolted right up.

It wasn't
easy to determine if these were the correct lights for my trailer though. It states on your site that these lights are for a trailer over 80" wide, which my stock trailer certainly is not. This caused alot of wasted time looking at every single LED light and I think these were on the last page of a zillion pages.

I should have bought spare lenses but since I could only guess at the light, I didn't.

I have used alot of your parts on my 3 trailers and never had complaints.

I really like LED lights. Since they are sealed, I don't have to worry about the most common problem...corrosion.

Looks good and easy installing

Fantastic quality. Looks great! I am using them on my Featherlite trailer with a lot of cargo weight at times. Performs great on the highway. To me safety is most important. I feel safe with these tires on my trailer!!!

I have used Optronics trailer lights for over 10 years. The quality and performance has been excellent. Recently I decided to switch to LED lamps, and installed a new set of Optronics tail lights. As before, the quality is excellent and the lights are very bright! I look forward to many years of safe trailering with these high-quality units. Thanks etrailer!

Excellent product. Well constructed and bright lights. Wiring and attaching to trailer myself saved a lot of money over dealer estimate with same results. I have had zero problems with performance during the first year.

Good quality, works well, light is easily seen, even in daylight.

working great

Fast delivery, easy installation. These lights are bright and still working perfectly after a year on my boat trailer.

Lights are bright and working perfectly. I would buy them again.
Joe - 05/04/2022

Simple to install and 100% better than what came with the trailer. If I knew then what I know now...I would have replaced the lights years ago before I had to deal with a replacement at an inopportune time.

Nice and bright. Seem solid and well built. Having problems with the pin connector. Have to twist and bend plug to make lights operate. Planning to replace pin connectors asap.

It sounds like you are having issues with your 4 pole connector or 7-way plug. You should not have to bend or twist the plug to get a good connection. This makes me think you may have some dirt in either your trailer plug or the vehicles side connector preventing the plugs from properly seating together. I also recommend to make sure the pins do not have any rust on them. If the pins do have rust on them you can sand them lightly with a lightweight sand paper before hooking up the trailer. If you are still having trouble I recommend to check the grounds on the vehicles wiring and the trailer side. Anytime there is intermittent issues with the lights illuminating it may be the ground wires. You want to make sure the ground has a good connection to a bare metal surface.

I am only rating based on the experience and the appearance of the product. I won't get an chance to install and evaluate the lights proper until the trailer and I are in the same place. The experience with e-trailer has always been excellent for me, this time was no different and the lights look great.

Nice bright lights. No problems installing. Best replacement I could find for my 1995 lights. Very happy with the purchase, installation and operation.

Had a short in a prior light. Chose these. Installed easy, super bright and fit the existing holes for my Sailboat trailer.

Package delivered promptly. Appeared packaged well. Lights installed easily and operate without issue whatsoever. I decided to purchase this particular brand from this particular retailer because of the lifetime warranty on the LEDs and etrailer's positive reputation.

I am, however, a little disappointed that the lens of one of the lights looked a little scuffed up... as if it had been rubbing against the inside of the plastic packaging. I know things like this don't remain pristine forever, but when you purchase something new you want it to look that way!

Great trailer lights. Very bright.

Saltwater is terrible on electrical, but this is one for the books. Great product!!!

Placing the order was straight forward - timing of shipment initially was a little uncertain but within a few days everything seemed to be going smoothly and tracking links kept me informed - thanks

I am an avid fisherman and my boat trailer is in and out of the water a lot. They’ve held up beautifully and I’m very impressed on the brightness. These lights are top notch in my opinion and would recommend them highly.

You will not be disappointed with these high quality lights. My boat trailer is in and out of the water alot. Even in the winter time covered in ice or in 100 + temperatures still bright and zero problems. They are worth every penny. Guaranteed.

Easy to install and replace existing lights on trailer

Light is brighter than standard bulb fixtures and more visible. We’ll sealed for submersible applications limiting failures, like burned out bulbs. Affordable.

Good lights.

Lights are still working great. No moisture issues after a season of launching the boat.

I was very happy with the optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights. After the installation, they worked perfectly on my G3 Bear boat trailer. Also great quick shipping from Etrailer!

I put these lights on my SeaDoo jet ski trailer and it was great to remove the bulb tail lights that came on the trailer!

You can't go wrong with LED lights. This kit works perfectly. Easy installation. The wires are all color coded exactly except for 1 of 6 wires but nevertheless, no brainer.
I also purchased shrink wrap butt connectors to keep the system water tight. These lights are bright and very visible.
As always, etrailer is the best. I love ordering from etrailer.

Love my water tight LEDs. Very visible.

Lights look great and well made. Lifetime warranty is a plus too. I think these were a better Choice than what was on Amaz0n.

Received correct product. Easy to install. Came with all hardware and clear instructions. LED lights much better than old incandescent lights.

  • Can LED and Incandescent Lights be Used at the Same Time on a Boat Trailer
The issue with using LED lights like part # TLL160RK with incandescent lights is that LEDs draw much less power than incandescent lights. This can lead to inconsistent operation of the lights so it is always recommended to either have all incandescent or all LED. If your LEDs are on a different circuit then you could use these with your current clearance lights, but if they are on the same circuit then you really need to have all of your lighting stay consistent.

  • Replacing the Taillights On a 2003 Monaco Knight Motorhome
The wires on your new taillights should be labeled. If they are not labeled then all you need to do is apply 12 volt power to each wire to see which function it activates. Then for the motorhome you will need to use a circuit tester and test each of the wires for the taillights while they are active. That will then let you know which wire goes where (red to red or white to black). The reason you must test is because one light/motorhome manufacturer can use a red wire for the stop/turn...
