Light will work as an exact replacement for:
Optronics # MC71RS
Grote # 47052
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're gonna take a look at the Petersen clearance or side marker trailer light with the red lens and the chrome plated base. Now this is an incandescent trailer light that will function as a clearance or side marker light when properly mounted. The premium bulb provides up to 15,000 hours of light, and it's all in this durable chrome plated ABS housing. Has the red lens that's over the incandescent bulb, and this light is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. It is a flush mount design to the trailer, with the included stainless steel screws, and it requires about a one and a quarter inch diameter socket hole for a flush mount installation. It is a twist in socket.
You can see twisting it, you can remove it, and here's your bulb, and then to put it back in, you just turn it and twist it into place. It does contain two black wires, a lead and a ground wire, and it doesn't matter which is which. It's not polarity sensitive, so you can pick either connection to either wire.It is a DOT Department of Transportation compliant light, P2 rated. It is made in the USA. A few dimensions on this.
Overall length on the light including the base is right at three and three quarter inches. Height on it is two and a quarter inches tall, and the total depth on it from the very end of the socket here to the face is going to be right at two and one sixteenth inches. Distance between the mounting holes where the screws are is going to be two and eleven sixteenths inches, and the bulb type that it uses is either a 194 or a 193 bulb. Power draw for this light at 12 volts is 0.25 amps, and last thing I want to do is we're going to hook this up to some 12 volt power just to show you how bright it is. And as I mentioned, they're both black wires, so it doesn't matter which wire is power and which one's the ground.
We got it all hooked up.Go ahead and turn the power on, and you can see the light comes on. I'll go ahead and turn off the overhead lights, and there's your clearance or side marker tail trailer light. Go ahead and turn back on the overhead light. Disconnect our wires. But that should do it for the review on the Peterson clearance or side marker trailer light with the red lens and the chrome plated base..

Matches the other 5. Looks and works great. It’s the furthest to the right in the photo.
Used as replacement on our 1996 Circle J horse trailer. I ordered the identical Peterson light that was on the trailer from the factory hoping for a simple swap. These lights seemed to have been redesigned. The originals on the trailer had separate mounting holes so I ended up having to modify each light to mount using the existing holes. I also had to make the center hole for the fixture larger on the trailer. Not a deal breaker but ended up taking a lot longer than I was anticipating.
i bought a 2003 Ford F550 with a contractor bed. One of the original Peterson lights was damaged. I bought the Peterson marker light and a reflective lens and put them together to match the original 2003 light perfectly. I also installed the matching Peterson reflectors to pass Delawarew inspection. Except for the damaged one, all the other Peterson lights are still working on the truck, but I bought a spare for each color just in case, Since the original lights are almost 20 years old.
I ordered 5 of these clearance lights, with two, separate orders. My second order was placed over the phone with Kevin, at etrailer. He was very helpful and ordering was done easily. Both orders delivered quickly. Great experience.
I have ordered a variety of repair parts from etrailer on a couple of different occasions. They seem to have a very good selection of parts that I can easily identify as the correct replacement part. They have had parts that the large RV stores in town did not have available. They get the shipment out FAST and correct. Everything I order is of great quality. They are now my first choice source.
perfect match to existing lights!!!
Perfect item shipped and received quickly. Not as big an order as usual, but handled as if as important as big order.
Like the fact that bulb was incandescent to match rest of 1991 BlueBird Wanderlodge lighting. An LED bulb just would not have matched other lights.
Thanks again,
Bill
The trailer lights were exactly what I was looking for. Price was pretty average and online buying was easy. They shipped and arrived extremely fast and that to me shows this companies pride in customer service. I highly recommend Etrailer.com
Light is exactly as described, service from etrailer.com was outstanding - order shipped same day, and I received it very quickly.
One year later the trailer lights are still working like new.
A good fit for my broken old part. When trailers get old it can sometimes be hard to get a proper replacement part.
I have ordered several time at etrailer and every time has been like I'm the first customer on their list. My order was always shipped and delivered in short time and in good condition. No issues at all. I highly recommend etrailer to everyone.
