The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.
A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

And this is what our light looks like when it's installed. This is going to be your standard two and a half inch round clearance marker light that has an incandescent bulb. So it'll make a great replacement for your existing ones if they get damaged, or if your lenses are just all scratched up and just not looking to your desire, you can go ahead and make it look nice and new. And also here at the back of the trailer, I also installed the same light in red as the back of your trailers needs to have red lights, and amber lights are designed for the front of your trailer. Being an incandescent bulb, this is going to be your economical choice. LEDs are going to be a more modern look than your incandescents, but if you're going for an old school look and you want your trailer to maintain its factory style, then replacing those old damaged or worn out incandescents with these will help breathe new life into it.What I really like about these lights though, is that they are a completely sealed housing.
So that way, if you put these on any trailers that are typically out in inclement weather, or maybe you have a boat trailer and you want to load your boat in and out of a water, a lot of times these do get submersed and that's okay with this unit being completely sonically sealed. The only thing that I don't like about it being sealed is that you can't replace the incandescent bulb inside, but a lot of these lights don't have replaceable bulbs anyway. So it's really not too big of a deal. And they're easy enough to replace the entire assembly just pops out, so it's a very quick and easy way to just get a new one in if you need to. I also like that the backside of the bulb uses a standard two wire connector that most of your trailer lights do for your side or clearance marker lights.
So it's nice and quick to get the new one in. You just simply press it in and you're ready to go.These lights are going to be P2 rated, which means they're designed for side marker or clearance lights, and there'll be DOT compliant in all states as long as they're installed in the correct location. Amber lights are designed for the front of your trailer and red lenses are designed for the rear of your trailer. With these available in both amber and red, you could easily upgrade or replace all the lights on your trailer by picking up however you need through etailer.com.We can now take our new light and plug it into our two prong connector. If you needed a two-prong connector, you can pick one up at etrailer.com here.
Just remember you want to wire the white wire to ground and the black wire would go to your taillight circuit. The two prongs just line up with the plugs on the back of our light. And once you get the two lined up, just simply press the two together. It is a little tight because it's a pressed fit style connector that holds them in, and then we just push it in our grommet and we're ready to test everything out.
