There are no wires coming out the back of the light no nuts to mount the light to the trailer. I was told that this replacement light was the same as the ones that came in the light kit. But I can't use it

I sincerely apologize that this light is not going to work with you. I can see that the nuts are missing and I will have our customer service team reach out to you. When installing the light it would be grounded using the hardware and the function of the light would be wired into it. You can see this at mark 1:18 in the link below.

Great product! I am in the process of restoring my trailer and these tail lights are perfect replacements.

by:

Peterson has always made good lights. I like the push-in for the wires. Over the last dozen years I have replaced my lights 3 times and always use Peterson. etrailer is quick and efficient with getting your order out. I've also added guards to my lights to see if they can keep from being damaged.

Just rewired a cargo trailer I bought that the lights were always going out. Found 20 butt connectors the guy used no wonder they worked off & on. Now with two new tail lights & new wiring with a straight connection everything works like it should. Everything I have bought from etrailer has been good quality & fast shipping.

Thanks

Still working with no problems. This trailer gets plenty of use besides going to the county dump, hauling landscaping material &amp lumber.

So some times, I’m not so good at backing up but this one I hit with the snow blower.
I like this unit because the wires just plug in the back and I’m good to go. I recommend this light.
This one use for the “passenger” side (with out license plate.

Still looks and works great. Keeping the snow blower away so far!

Hi Ashley E.

You probably don’t
remember, but you ask me to do a review and send a photo of my trailer light purchase on your invoice #108377365 Of 9/4/019.

Find a photo attached. This is a ‘Rat Rod’ pickup and not quite done, but I finally did get the lights mounted and wired. They worked perfectly, and I am very satisfied.

I will send you another (and a much better) photo when a get the bed for the Rat Rod built.

I ordered these as part of a project to restore a small landscape trailer. Installed easy but, passenger light would not work. Vibration from the road would cause the bald to come loose and fall out inside the cover. Tried to get them returned under warranty but, so no purpose in paying for the return shipment. I found LED lights on (online store) installed in 20 minutes and they work perfectly. Much better solution.

by:

This was an exact replacement for my 30 year old boat trailer light. So easy! Stripped the wires, plugged them in, works perfectly!

by:

Perfec, great replacement

great packaged perfectly, no flaws

As always, I very satisfied with my purchase from, etrailer. I have bought from them before and always get great service and products. Of course Ole George, keeps me up to date on my items and information about shipping, and even lets me know when it is delivered. I think he has a spy cam somewhere so he can watch over the items. Not sure how he does it. etrailer has to be a family owned business, as they care for the customer like family. Many thanks to all the etrailer employees for making my purchases a great experience! P S They didn't pay me to write this.

No complaints at all. Thanks George for checking with me after a year. This was a surprise! As in my feedback a year ago, where I said you were like family, I still mean that. However, I think you forgot to let me know where the family was having Christmas Diner, last year. Thanks again.

Peterson makes great products and has for many years. I bought this to match the other tail light on my trailer. It is a perfect match and easy to install. I was happy to find an online source for this product as all of the bigbox stores seem to have gone to generic brands. Thank you etrailer for a fair priced alternative.

A year later and still performs like new

by:

It’s an exact replacement for the one I broke

by:

Quality is above average. Installation was easy. Old school incandescent bulbs. A simple diagram with how long the wires need to be stripped to stay in the holders would be nice. Somethings are not worth watching a video. Maybe the country of manufacturer doesn't provide instructions, hence the videos.

Not much wire needs to be stripped in order to install. If you do not wish to watch this entire review video, the install and stripping start around the 2:10 mark:

Shipped Fast and as described in the product description.

by:

The lights arrived in a timely fashion at a very good price. Upon opening the box, I was initially puzzled by the lack of wiring pigtails. Darn, I guess I need to order a plug; OK, it's been a long time since I changed my trailer lights. Oh, but after a little research, such was not so. The trailer wires simply pressed into the rear of the light housing and self tapped - how simple. Maybe, a sliver of paper instructions enclosed would have been in order. Maybe not.....
Overall, I am most pleased with my dealings with eTrailer.

by:

Was as described. Very easy to attach to trailer and the wires just clipped in as shown in the video.

Well made and is still working every time

by:

This product was exactly what I needed. I let a co-worker borrow my trailer, and he managed to break the side reflector of this unit. I only needed the lens, but it is not sold separately. However, I'm glad that this whole unit was at a very reasonable price, even though the shipping costs were as much as the product, it still ended up being a decent price. This was my first time using etrailer.com, and it won't be the last, everything turned out well, and although I did not need or use it, judging by the e-mails sent out the customer service seems to be excellent.

by:

Arrived quickly. The bulbs are a little difficult to remove from these lights - I'll find out if I reinstalled the bulbs correctly when I finish the wiring. These are what I needed for my utility trailer. Now I just want the LED lights to come down in price.

by:

These lights were purchased to replace the really old ones on a utility trailer. They are excellent value for the price, well made and nicely finished, I particularly liked the fact that you do not have to splice wires together as the lights have 2 holes into which you just push the wires, installation was easy, just 2 bolts on each light.
As usual service from etrailer is great.

by:

It’s been a year since I purchased and installed this replacement trailer light to my jetski trailer. It was easy to install, worked great, and met or exceeded all my expectations. I also appreciate the one year follow up prompt from etrailer, as I believe longer term reviews, after you’ve had time to truly assess and determine quality build and performance, are much more insightful than new purchase reviews.

by:

Fast service, exact fit for my trailer (bought from Tractor Supply). For the price of this taillight it's really hardly worth replacing bulbs. You always need to clean connections, and then they're acting up again a month later. I would rather spend $$ and be good for several years.

by:

I did not have any issues installing it. I had to use a couple of nuts off the old light (it came with two, I think is should have four.) The internal connectors for the wires seemed a bit flimsy. I replaced the tail/brake light bulb with an LED (This was purely a preference.) It seems like the socket for the bulb could be damaged easily.

by:

I liked the price. used fixture to replace existing light fixture on trailer. had problems wiring it to work properly. lights still do not work properly.

  • Troubleshooting Right Blinker Causing Both Blinkers to Light Up
If both blinkers are going on when you activate the right blinker the first thing, as usual with trailer lighting, is to check your ground connections. You'll want to make sure your grounds are securely attached to bare metal surfaces free of any paint, dirt or corrosion of any kind. Additionally, each component does need to have its own ground (see accompanying photo) because a common ground connector such as what you have can impact all of the wiring and cause issues. Another thing...

  • Troubleshooting Belly Dump Trailer with No Left Turn Signal
It sounds like the problem is the ground on the left side is bad. If the light grounds through the mounting hardware then you will want to make sure the light is attached to a clean metal surface. I would remove the light assembly and check to make there is no rust or corrosion and fix as necessary. If the assembly grounds through a wire I recommend you trace that wire back to where it terminates to confirm that where it attaches is clean and free of rust and corrosion as well.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Left Turn Signal That Stops After A Few Blinks
There is something going on with the trailer's wiring that is causing the tail light to lose power with the left turn signal activated. The first thing I recommend doing is inspecting the connector on the trailer for any debris or corrosion built up around the pins that might need to be cleaned out. Then go back to the left tail light in question and make sure it is securely grounded to a clean, bare metal surface on the trailer. Whether the light assembly uses a separate ground wire...

  • Brake and Signal Lights Fail on Snowmobile Trailer When Headlights on 2006 Toyota Tacoma Turned On
When you turn your headlights on your truck is running at full power which means you probably have a weak ground along your circuit that is responsible for your brake and turn signals. When the taillights and brake lights are used at the same time, it creates the maximum amp load of the lights on the trailer. If a ground problem exists, it will show at this point. 14 gauge wire would work with the part # 432200 or with other trailer stop/turn signal lights we offer. In a worst case scenario you might need to strip back a portion of the core of the wire to get it to fit into the ports of the # 432200 but in reality 14 gauge wire would fit and work well.

  • Should Both Side of Trailer Lights Flash with Hazard Lights on
The reason that you would have a fuse just for one side of the signals is because they are for different circuits. You are correct that when you have your hazard lights on both the yellow and green should flash. It sounds like you have done a great job at troubleshooting so if I were you I would check the owner's manual for your vehicle for fuses that would relate to your trailer lights. Sometimes they have the same fuse and sometimes they don't. The only way to know for sure is with...

  • Troubleshooting Left Side Turn Signal Not Working On Trailer
This sounds like a ground problem on the left side. With the brake lights there is a constant signal coming through which is enough to make the lights illuminate on both sides like they should. But the on/off of a turn signal does not offer enough consistent voltage and makes the problem apparent. First check the grounds on the side where the problem is. Trailer lights usually ground through their mounting studs unless there is an obvious ground wire. In either case, the ground will need...

It sounds like the problem is in the way the your right turn/brake light is grounded. You said that there is power to the fixture which would mean that either the fixture/bulb is faulty or the ground is bad. It sounds like you have done a good amount of testing. Based on what you have said I would check the fuses and/or relays that are related to the trailer wiring on the truck. Use the legend on the lid of the power distribution box to find the locations. It sounds like your issue is being caused by a weak ground on the pop up camper. The best place to start troubleshooting is with the ground for the right tail/brake light.
