THE PART THAT I ORDERED IS THE EXACT SAME THAT IS ON MY TRAILER NOW. BUT, THE LIGHT THAT I RECEIVED CAME WITH NO WIRING INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO WIRE IT. OTHER THAN THIS SMALL PROBLEM I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND PRODUCT..

Edith H was excellent taking my order and following up with my order process. I highly recommend etrailer.

Still works great. The Michigan UP weather can really be hard on outdoor equipment, but this product has withstood the elements.

Hi Ashley E.

You probably don’t
remember, but you ask me to do a review and send a photo of my trailer light purchase on your invoice #108377365 Of 9/4/019.

Find a photo attached. This is a ‘Rat Rod’ pickup and not quite done, but I finally did get the lights mounted and wired. They worked perfectly, and I am very satisfied.

I will send you another (and a much better) photo when a get the bed for the Rat Rod built.

We broke the original Peterson lights on the trailer after 20 yrs and chose to replace them with Peterson lights again as we never had any issues with the original one and the wiring was a plug and play which made it easy to install.

I ordered 2 Peterson tail lights to replace the broken ones on my Kendon stand-up M/C trailer. They were exact replacements and the job was over in twenty minutes. Very easy. That was only the product. What was really exceptional was the service. When I placed the order I was expecting a two week or longer turn around as so many other online dealers take, but e=trailer shipped my order immediately and I had them on the fourth day. What great service!!!I would highly recommend this company for any of the products they sell. Thanks

As always, I very satisfied with my purchase from, etrailer. I have bought from them before and always get great service and products. Of course Ole George, keeps me up to date on my items and information about shipping, and even lets me know when it is delivered. I think he has a spy cam somewhere so he can watch over the items. Not sure how he does it. etrailer has to be a family owned business, as they care for the customer like family. Many thanks to all the etrailer employees for making my purchases a great experience! P S They didn't pay me to write this.

The lights arrived in a timely fashion at a very good price. Upon opening the box, I was initially puzzled by the lack of wiring pigtails. Darn, I guess I need to order a plug; OK, it's been a long time since I changed my trailer lights. Oh, but after a little research, such was not so. The trailer wires simply pressed into the rear of the light housing and self tapped - how simple. Maybe, a sliver of paper instructions enclosed would have been in order. Maybe not.....
Overall, I am most pleased with my dealings with eTrailer.

by:

I purchased these lights as replacements for my utility trailer. As with most trailers of this type, grounding is usually a problem for one reason or another. These lights should solve any grounding problems because they eliminate the grounding wire and are grounded directly to the trailer frame using the mounting bolts. Maintenance will easy, as well.....the lenses and bulbs can be replaced simply by removing 4 screws. I'll admit, I'm a little skeptical of the way the wiring to the lights are attached.....bare the wire and insert it into a hole in the back of the light where they are anchored by an onboard clip. If this works as described, that will make these lights the go-to replacements. As easy as it gets.

by:

I replaced both lights on my small boat trailer. I had never seen this type of electrical contact before but the wires were still attached to the existing Peterson light so I copied that connection, which was very easy. I would suggest that Peterson include a simple diagram with its trailer light for those of us unfamiliar with that connection.

They appear to be durable high-quality products with a reasonable price.

by:

I have used Peterson lights for many decades. I stick with them because they maintain a decent quality level. But, I ordered a driver side light and a passenger side light about two weeks apart in two separate orders. On both lights, 1 or both of the threads on the 1/4" X 20 mounting bolts were damaged right on the end of the bolt. This made starting the hex nut impossible. I happened to have a thread file which allowed me to clean the threads up and solve the problem. It just seemed odd to me that this issue occurred. I gave them a 5 star rating anyway because I know Peterson builds a good product and I have used these particular lights for many years without issue.

by:

I installed the units within 30 days of receiving them and once of the units when out about 4 months ago. I thought about contacting you to complain or check warranty but never did. Thanks for your follow up as it gave me the chance to bring you up to date. If you wish to replace the one that failed I would be most pleased. Thanks

Its pretty rare for a taillight to go bad within 2 months of installation. Id recommend doing a little troubleshooting. Use a circuit tester like # 40376 on the wires leading to the lamp as each lighting function is activated. If you dont have a circuit tester, you can always swap the non-functioning lamp to the other side of the trailer. If the lamp works on the other side, then its a wiring issue, not a defective lamp. Its also possible that the bulb is bad. This lamp uses a readily available 1157 bulb, which we offer as part # A1157B. If its not a wiring issue, then the lamp is defective.

by:

As the previous light got damaged, I had to find a replacement. My replacement fit perfectly and was easy to install.

Absolutely no issues. Working fine!

by:

Looks good although right around the edges of the lens there are tiny gaps, which I would think will let water in (and out). Haven't installed it yet but with the easy to use wiring connections, no soldering!

Still doing good. Sealed up the gaps and havent had any problems.

The old light broke, hitting something. this was a perfect replacement. everyone else forces me to buy a pair of lights but here I was able to buy exactly what I needed and wanted. it was a perfect fit and therefore very easy to install in just a few minutes.

After about 10 months on my little home-built trailer (using it maybe once a month for a few hours), the side reflector piece just fell off somewhere on the road. Now I have to order a new tail light. sigh. A DIFFERENT brand.

by:

Arrived quickly. The bulbs are a little difficult to remove from these lights - I'll find out if I reinstalled the bulbs correctly when I finish the wiring. These are what I needed for my utility trailer. Now I just want the LED lights to come down in price.

by:

These lights were purchased to replace the really old ones on a utility trailer. They are excellent value for the price, well made and nicely finished, I particularly liked the fact that you do not have to splice wires together as the lights have 2 holes into which you just push the wires, installation was easy, just 2 bolts on each light.
As usual service from etrailer is great.

by:

Just rewired a cargo trailer I bought that the lights were always going out. Found 20 butt connectors the guy used no wonder they worked off & on. Now with two new tail lights & new wiring with a straight connection everything works like it should. Everything I have bought from etrailer has been good quality & fast shipping.

Thanks

by:

Bought only one because it was broken against a wall backing, The local parts house had one to get trip finished. Found later the bulb socket twisted completely out taken bulb out to dielectric grease the base. so parts house cheap PETERSON was my original lighting as a new trailer. Thanks etrailer.

  • How to Wire a Trailer Light with 1 Wire
It sounds like the light on your trailer is either missing a wire or it was only designated for one tail light function. If the light does not look old or damaged, I would guess that it is just a clearance light and should be connected to the running light circuit. If this is the case, it should not function as a brake light as well because it was not designed to do so. The brake lights and tail lights run on different circuits and they were not designed to connect to the same wire on a...

  • How Does Wiring Run to the Peterson Trailer Light part # 432400
Essentially what you said is how you run wire to the part # 432400. It's a pretty strange method I will agree, but basically you just insert the wires into the holes on the back of the light assemblies and they socket grabs the wire. If you fast-forward to the 2:30 section of the video I attached you will see our installer use this method. It's really pretty nice since you don't have to splice anything or use any soldering. If you do pull hard enough you would be able to remove the wire,...

  • Replacing Bulb on Peterson Square Trailer Tail Light # 432400
To change the bulbs in Peterson trailer tail light # 432400 you will first remove the main lens which is held on by 4 screws. The main bulb can be removed by pushing down and rotating the bulb counterclockwise. There is a diagram on the inside of the case that explains this and it says turn it 30 degrees then pull up. I had to turn it several more times when I played with the light so it probably varies slightly. To install a new 1157 bulb # 30-90-157 you will line up the lower nub on...

  • How To Install The Peterson Square Trailer Tail Light Part # 432400
I am assuming you are referring to the Peterson Square Trailer Tail Light part # 432400. If this is the case, on the back of the taillight assembly, there are 4 wire holes for each function located at the top of the tail light assembly. The top two holes are designed for a larger gauge wire whereas the bottom two are designed for a smaller gauge wire. In order to remove the old wires, you will first need to unhook the trailer connector from the vehicle. You can then insert a small screwdriver...

  • Differences Between Peterson 432200 6-Function and 432400 7-Function Trailer Taillights
The driver's side lamp, part # 432400 has an additional function that the # 432200 passenger side lamp does not.
