Specs:
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.

Today we're taking a look at the Peterson LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Might. This is a low profile LED trailer light that functions as a clearance or side marker light when properly mounted. It has the built in reflex reflector, which removes the need for a separate reflector. It is a LED system. It contains one LED. LEDs making great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer, they burn brighter, they're more efficient.
With LEDs you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. We have a nice, durable black plastic housing with the acrylic amber lens. This is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. Its surface mounts to the trailer, hardware not included. And it's a single wire design, so this is our power wire, and then the unit grounds through the mounting hardware. It is P2 rated.
It's Department of Transportation compliant. Product's made in the USA.Few measurements to go over with you real quick, and then we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Edge to edge, measures about 3 and 15/16 inches, going that direction. Edge to edge right here is about 2 and 5/16. The overall depth, like we said, it's a low profile light, it's only 7/16 of an inch deep.
Mount holes are separated on center by 3 1/2 inches. All right, we're going to hook it up to power. We'll also turn off our overhead light so you can see it in a low light setting. The other thing I like about this too is, we have these little channels right here, so that's gonna allow us to run our wires out, and still have that flush surface mount installation. So you can see here, the light sends out a really nice clear, consistent signal. Again, it contains a total of one diode or one LED.
LEDs also have a much faster response time when compared to incandescent lights. And with it turned on, you can get a really good look at that built in reflector material that's built into the lens of the unit. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Peterson LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light.

3-15/16" x 2-5/16" Rectangle. Low-profile LED trailer light functions as a side marker or clearance light when properly mounted. Built-in reflex reflector. Surface mount to trailer - hardware not included. 1-Wire design. P2 rated.Received immediately. Easy to install and works great. My only concern is that they are made out of a very light plastic material and were a little pricey for single LED lights. They are definitely bright enough. I have not had a chance to put the trailer in the water to see if they are waterproof, but I’m sure they are.
The lights themselves are great and look good at night. Installed 7, 2 Reds and 5 Yellows on my horse trailer.
What was not so good was the cost. The Reds at the time I ordered were $x.xx each, while the Yellows were $xx.xx apiece. They are the exact same light with different color lenses. Why is that???
Anyhow, needed them and bought them.
Also, the shipping was right on, arrived quickly.
Fast and accurate process.
The wire wasn't right in the middle so had to modify a bit to fit my trailer. Also, not incredibly bright, but it'll serve its purpose.
