The waterproof construction of these lights make them ideal for use on boat trailers because they often get submerged. The housing and lens on each light are sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light to damage the diode or circuit board. Also, a special urethane potting is used to encapsulate the circuit board, further ensuring protection from moisture and dust.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the mini LED ID lights with the red lens over for over 80-inch-wide boat trailers, and this is for a quantity of three lights. Now you can see, these are a small round LED light that'll serve as a rear identification light for your trailer that's over 80 inches wide. It is required by law to have rear identification lights, if your trailer exceeds 80 inches wide. Now these are a sealed waterproof housing and lens unit, which is submersible, does have an IP 68 rating, which means it's resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of five feet underwater for up to 30 minutes. They do use a military grade construction circuits boards for these lights.
They use a urethane potting, which gives you better protection than the common epoxy potting. And the LEDs they use are premium LEDs, which are energy efficient, long lasting and vibration resistant. They are rated for up to 100,000 hours of operation. The lenses are a nice durable UV-resistant lens, and it is a red lens over a red LED. Now at the end of this video, I am gonna hook this up to some 12 volt power, just to show you how bright the lights are.
These are compatible with 12 volt DC system. They are a recessed mount installation with the included grommet you can see already installed. They will require a 3/4 inch size diameter cutout to fit into, and we also even sell stainless steel trim rings separately, if you want those for a nice finished look, and they are usually listed on this product page as a related product. Now this does hardwire to your application. It is a two-wire design, has a ground and a power wire and the wire length totals about 48 inches.
This does meet or exceed the Federal Motor Vehicles Safety Standards, 108 standards. It is for a quantity of three lights. Input voltage per light is 9 volts to 14 volts, power draw per light is 0.06 to 0.08 amps. And the size of the light itself, we'll put a ruler on it, the diameter is right at one inch and the total depth of it is right about 7/8 of an inch. So what we're gonna do now is I'm gonna go ahead and hook this up to some 12 volt power.
Once we get it hooked up, go ahead and turn on the power. And you'll see all three of the lights light up. If I turn off the overhead lights, you can see how all three of them there light up, give you a very, very bright red light. And even if I zoom out, you can see how these would look when they're installed on the rear of your trailer. Go ahead and turn back on our overhead lights, go ahead and turn off our power. But that should do it for the review on the mini LED ID lights with the red lens for the over 80-inch-wide boat trailers..
