Maintaining a functioning lighting system for your boat trailer is required by law. Make your life simpler by installing lights that you can trust be to be submerged regularly. The housing and lens of this light are sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light to damage the diode or circuit board. Also, a special urethane potting is used to encapsulate the circuit board, further ensuring protection from moisture and dust.
A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light on either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. Rather than buying side marker and clearance lights separately, you can mount this single, PC-rated light at a 45-degree angle on the rear corner of your trailer to act as both.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at this recessed mount, mini red LED, side marker, boat trailer light. This waterproof, mini LED red light functions as a side marker and clearance light for your trailer when properly mounted. And as you can see, I already have it connected to 12 volt power to give you an idea just how bright this is. This is, of course, with my studio lights on.
Let me turn my studio lights off just to kind of give you a better idea of its brightness. And you can see the red light that it casts. And again, just a really bright light. This is a single, premium LED. And it's energy efficient, long-lasting.
It's gonna be vibration resistant. It's rated up to 100,000 hours of operation. And this is also a PC rated light, which means that it can produce a 90 degree angle of light to either of its central line for a total of 180 degrees of coverage as you can see here. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you're standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing off to the side on either side of this light. Now, this is a durable, UV resistant, red lens cover.
This is from a distance, but unfortunately, my camera doesn't focus real well from a distance. This is a durable, UV resistant, red lens over a red LED, and a sealed waterproof housing and lens unit. The waterproof construction of this light is going to make it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged like a boat trailer. And the circuit board is of a military grade construction. And the urethane potting offers better protection than the common epoxy potting.
Now, this is again, a recessed mount installation with the included grommet. It requires a 3/4 of an inch diameter cut-out. And you can add a stainless steel trim ring, which is sold separately, for a finished look. This hardwires to your application with this 7 1/2 inch long pigtail. This is compatible with 12 volt DC systems and this meets or exceeds FMVSS 108 standards. The dimension is sitting right at an inch in diameter. Let me line that up here a little bit better for you. So, as you can see, about an inch in diameter. And the overall thickness, we're sitting right at about 7/8 of an inch thick. The input voltage is gonna be nine volts to 14 volts. And the power draw is gonna be 0.06 to 0.08 amps. And the wire length, again, is sitting right at about 7 1/2 inches long. And this has a 68 IP rating. And it also has a limited lifetime warranty. Work great. I installed three in back of boat trailer. Been working even when backing boat in and out of the water.
Would definitely purchase again! These are my favorite style of side marker lighting.
I am happy with how fast it was delivered. But the packing worried me. The small plastic lights were just tossed into the box along with the very heavy trailer hitch. The edge of the box was torn. The heavy metal hitch could have very easily crushed the plastic items. Maybe those could have been placed inside a rolled up paper bag.
But lucking out there was no breakage.
I will review after I install. But I like it. The led light wires are big enough to splice onto other wires.

These little lights are bright and perfect for a 3/4" hole. Easy to install and wire up.

Ground was black wire. Test polarity before soldering joints together!
