Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the BulletProof Hitches 38" long Median Duty Safety Chains with the clevis hooks. These have an 18,800 pound weight capacity and it is for a quantity of two chains. Now these safety chains will help ensure safe towing. These are required in most states and the safety chains acts as a backup if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. This kit here is for a quantity of two safety chains and we mentioned the clevis hooks.
Basically what you'll do, I'm just zoom in here. You'll attach one end of the zinc coated steel chain to your trailer right here, and then take the other end, which has the clevis end on it, and you'll hook that to the loop point in your hitch. Now the chain length diameter, the size of the chain lengths is 5/16". The clevis hook diameter, which is gonna be stamped on there, is 5/16". Now the clevis hook opening, which is gonna be if you push the latch here open, that amount of opening to slide on to what you're gonna hook it to is gonna be right at 3/4" opening.
Now the factory length chains are usually not long enough to connect your trailer to your hitch receiver when you are utilizing a drop hitch. So these longer chains will offer more hitch attachment options. And as we mentioned, the overall length on these is gonna be 38". They are a grade 70 steel chain, which is strong and durable, and if you notice, they do have a zinc, yellow zinc coating on 'em that'll resist rust and corrosion. A few specs again, just to go over the weight capacity for the pair is 18,800 pounds, per chain is 9,400 pounds, and the working low limit per chain is 4,700 pounds.
Now these are the median duty chains, they also are available in a larger 3/8" heavy duty chain, part number BPH86RR, and even a larger 1/2" extreme duty chains, part number BPH26RR. Both of those we do sell separately on our website. But that should do it for the review on this BulletProof Hitches 38" long, Medium Duty Safety Chains with the clevis hooks.
