Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a class four trailer safety chain. The class four safety chain is rated at 10,000 pounds. The chain is made from carbon steel and it features a nice zinc plating to withstand rust and corrosion. It measures 22 inches long, features a forged slip hook connection and that has a spring loaded safety latch to prevent accidental disconnecting. The chain is designed for towing only. It's not designed for lifting.
The chain diameter is three eighths of an inch. Again, the length measurement on this chain is 22 inches. But when it comes to the slip hook you'll noticed that it's a pretty large design, and that's because it's built for strength and durability. It's a nice heavy duty hook, but with a hook this size you want to make sure that it will fit inside of your connection or anchor point. So a few things or a few measurements I can give you real quick that'll help determine that, with that latch mechanism all the way open this area right here, I took a measurement of that, that gives us an opening of one and one eighth inches wide. And then right here, measuring the thickness from this point here to this point here, so that area here, gives us a measurement of an inch and a quarter, and then the thickness edge to edge right here is three quarters of an inch.
And again, the maximum gross trailer weight capacity for this chain is 10,000 pounds. And that's going to do it for today's look at the 22 inch class four trailer safety chain.

Excellent chains for my utility trailer
I purchased these safety chains to add to the trailer tongue extension I built for my sailboat trailer so the rig can be backed in further in the water. My rig weighs 10,000 lbs and these chains give me peace of mind that anything that can go wrong, won't go wrong. etrailer has great product selection and the product description makes it easy to make decisions on the best application.
