Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Titan Chain Safety Chain. This is gonna be a single chain that is 60 inches long and you have your two S-hooks at the end. You're gonna have a diameter of 7/16 of an inch for the S-hooks and then your chains are gonna be 1/4 inch in diameter. The most important thing is to make sure that your safety chains fit both your trailer and your towing vehicle. So that's where those measurements come in handy for the lengths as well as the S-hooks because there you can determine if you have the right bolts in your trailer to fit through that length, diameter and if this length works for you. Now, this is used as a single chain, so it's about 2 1/2 feet from the trailer to the vehicle.
It's also available as a shorter chain if needed or you can roll them up if you just need the shorter chain but you like that length size. The links are made of steel, but they also have this zinc coating to help resist corrosion and rust. Now, the diameter of the link is very important. It's gonna be a quarter inch, so you need to make sure that it matches the bolts on your trailer. If your trailer bolts are too small or smaller, then you're gonna have a little bit extra movement.
If the bolts are larger, then they won't fit through the links, so you want something just right so the snug fit. The S-hooks are made of the same material with the same coating. The diameter is gonna be a little bit larger though, you have a 7/16 diameter here. That's helpful for seeing if it fits onto your towing vehicle. If you we're going to use a quantity of two of these chains, then you can take off the S-hook on one side and attach the link to your trailer as this goes back onto your towing vehicle.
So hopefully, this video helped you out with seeing if this will fit your trailer as well as your vehicle for your towing needs. It's very important to have and use safety chains. These are gonna be on the longer end, but if you find yourself needing to have shorter chains, just go ahead and roll them up like this and then they work as shorter chains. Another thing to look out for is I do use this style where it bolts into the trailer tongue and that's how I'm able to half the chains. If you have a welded bracket, then take my tips with taking off the S-hook so you can still use these.
So if it fits your trailer, fits your car, I'll show you how to get it all set up. So we're gonna be replacing our chain, so we need to take off the old one, so find the appropriate tools for the bolt that is currently on your trailer and loosen it so you can take that chain off. Once that bolt is removed, this pops right back out, so grab your new chains so you can pop it back in. So I like to find the center of the chains so that it's a nice even look, so go and find that, hold onto it. Now we're going to thread this bolt through and there's a little lip on the underneath, so we're gonna have to put this halfway, fit the bolt through the link inside the coupler and then push that through, put back your washer as well as your nut and then tighten that down, tighten it down so it's extra secure. And that's it, quick and easy replacement or install whichever you are doing. Now, I like to just double check that this fits well with the vehicle, always make sure that you're using safety chains properly, but that's it for the install. And that was a look at your Titan Chain Safety Chains that are 60 inches long with two S-hooks on the end right here at etrailer.com.
