Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I'm gonna talk about and show you how to install these Titan chain safety chains for your lightweight trailers. These are gonna be 48 inches long. They're gonna have a 3/8 of an inch S hooks and the links are gonna be 3/16 in diameter. The most important thing is to make sure that your safety chains match your trailer as well as the vehicle you're towing this with. So this is designed for your lightweight trailer since the safety chains have a capacity of 3000 pounds. So for our kayak trailer here, perfect.
Now another thing is this is gonna be a single chain or a quantity of one. So it's 48 inches long, but that length is halved. So it is secured in the middle of the chain with a bolt on the trailer and that's why you may not need two chains. One would be enough to suffice. So here are our links.
They're gonna be steel links with a zinc coating. So that zinc coating is so that your chains stay rust and corrosion resistant. Now for the diameter of the chains that's actually really important. It's gonna be 3/16 of an inch. So double check the bolts on your trailer.
If the bolts are too large they won't fit through the lengths. If they're the right size you'll be able to secure them since they fit through. Now fort where it attaches to your vehicle, this has an S hook with 3/8 of an inch diameter. But not only does it have an S hook but it also has this safety latch. So comparing this to our old chains on our trailer which also has an S hook with that diameter but this one doesn't have that safety latch, I prefer that latch for the extra piece of mind and security.
This would be a more usual application for your lightweight trailer, since you don't usually need longer chains to make that connection. But if for some reason you may need longer chains, we do have an option for you. We also have options for different length diameters. You can also get a quantity of two of these. If you have a welded bracket on your trailer, you can attach one into the bracket, the other end to your hitch receiver, that works as well. But if this is how you prefer your chain or you need your chain on your trailer, I'll show you how to get it all set up. So the way our safety chains are installed on this trailer is we have a bolt running through the tongue securing our chains. If your trailer does not have his style maybe they have a welded bracket, that's gonna be a different process. But for the ones with the bolt, we're first gonna have to undo this bolt to remove our old chains. Take your tools and just loosen it until that bolt comes off of that nut. (drill whirs) Once that's out, hold onto your hardware but you can see that the chains immediately come off. So to show you how they we're connected you just fit one of the links through as you put this inside the tongue and then secure it at the end. Here are our new chains and I like to have them even. So we're going to find the middle link. Now we're going to thread this bolt through and there's a little lip on the underneath, so we're gonna have to put this halfway, fit the bolt through the link inside the cover and then push that through. Put back your washer as well as your nut and then tighten that down. (drill whirs) And that's it for your install of your new safety chains. Now's a good time to double check that the length works well for your vehicle and you're ready to tow. And that's it for a look at our Titan chain safety chains that are 48 inches long with a 3/8 inch safety hook as well as a 3/16 inch diameter link. And you saw that here at etrailer.

Attach the chain to your trailer's tongue, and then connect the S-hook to your tow vehicle. Zinc-coated steel resists corrosion. The jack is decent. My only complaint would be that the wheel I purchased to go on to the jack does not pivot or turn when I push the trailer around.
I have to constantly kick the wheel in order to guide the trailer into position.
It fit my little canoe trailer perfectly with enough slack for turns. A 3/8” bolt through the center link was just the ticket.
The safety chains were good quality and shipping was fast!
have ordered several things from e-trailer service has been great, delivered fast and have a great selection of parts
Looks good. Should work fine for my trailer build.
Strong and perfect for our safety chain needs
Good replacement tires and wheels. Quality at etrailer is always great.
Quick, easy, right part!
I purchased a set for my boat trailer a year ago. They are very good quality and have worked perfectly. Yes I can recommend them to others.
Worked as it should but had to cut in half and bolt separately on both sides of the trailer for it to pass inspection.
Chain and hooks are just as described and will do as intended to keep me legal and others safe if trailer comes loose from toe vehicle.
Replacing a steel cable aka wire rope style which I've never liked or trusted due to the spring like memory the display. These will be an upgrade! Good value.
Items as described and fast shipping too. etrailer is great to do business with and will order from them again
