Thank you for getting my order shipped in a timely manner and ON TIME. A lot of businesses say they'll send something in a certain time but a lot don't. You did and I appreciate it.

by:

Extremely satisfied! Excellent customer service, delivery was right on time. The parts ordered were exactly as advertised and fit perfectly. Ordered two more hubs to overhaul my trailer axles. Highly recommend using this company for any trailer repairs.

I was too cheap to replace the entire axle assembly when my bearings failed and ruined the spindle. Welding in this new spindle saved me some cash and the trailer is as good as new. Ordered a new hub assembly along with this spindle and everything went together perfectly.

  • Cause for Uneven Tire Tread Wear on One Tire of Tandem Axle Utility Trailer
It sounds like your Haulmark 7 x 12-foot tandem axle enclosed utility trailer has a bent left rear spindle. This could occur from an impact with road debris or from hitting a curb with the trailer fully loaded. If both tires on the same axle showed equal wear on their inside edges then this would tend to indicate overloading of the axle, but since it is only one of the four wheels the problem is likely to be localized to that one spindle. If the spindle were to be bent upward then the...

  • Recommended #84 Spindle for a 3500 Pound Axle Measuring 2-3/8 Inches in Diameter
The TruRyde #84 Spindle # TRU24FR does have a 2 inch diameter, but that is actually designed to fit inside the 2 3/8 inch axle. The stub on the end will extend inside the axle a little ways allowing for added support

  • Replacement Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axle with 2-3/8 inch Diameter
Since you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle and that indicates you have a 3,500 lb axle the 84 spindle like the part # TRU24FR will work great as that is what capacity this axle was designed for. Installing spindles is a precision job that should only be done by a welder with the needed jigs to get the spindle completely square to the axle.

  • What Trailer Axle Spindle Has Bearings L68149 and L44649
If you know the trailer axle capacity that's a pretty good way to determine what spindle you have. Or if you get me the bearing numbers. You can also measure the spindle where the bearings ride and with that info I can let you know what you have.

  • Spindle Dimensions of a 3500 lb Axle
3500 lb axles have the most common and most consistent spindle sizes. They are typically 1.73 inches at the seal, 1.38 inches at the inner bearing and 1.06 inches at the outer bearing like # TRU24FR. I've attached a video to assist. I've linked the page to all of the options for hubs or hub/drum assemblies for this size spindle. There are 4 different sizes for 5 bolt assemblies and I've attached an article to assist.

  • How to Determine if Trailer Spindle is Bent
One thing you can do is take a straight edge that is longer than your tire and lay it across the tire parallel with your trailer frame. Measure the distance from the frame to the straight edge in front and back of the tire. If the measurement is the same then your spindle is not bent. This is assuming your tires are in good shape and don't have any bulges. Outside of that, the only way to find if it is bent is to take your trailer to a professional who can check your spindle alignment.

  • Is There a #84 Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles That Comes With Brake Flange
There is an option very, very similar to the #84 Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles - 2" Diameter # TRU24FR that includes a brake mounting flange, though not exactly the same. The difference is in the stub dimensions, as the aforementioned has a 2" diameter stub, and the option that comes with a brake flange has a 1-3/4" diameter stub: - #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange for 3,500-lb Trailer Axle - 1-3/4" Diameter # TRU74FR Apart from that, the difference is that this spindle is an...

  • Availability of Spindle that Would Fit Square Tube Axle
New spindles should be welded on only by a professional welder who has experience and the correct jigs for installing spindles perfectly straight and concentric. If not installed correctly the trailer may not track properly and uneven tire wear can occur. It might be more trouble than it's worth to try and fit a round spindle like the part # TRU24FR in a square tube axle by trimming it. We have a square version of this spindle as part # TRU47FR.

A true 1 inch spindle is a BT8 spindle, like # TRU94FR. The next closest one would be the BTR spindle which is commonly referred to as a 1-1/16 inch spindle, like # TRU44FR and is more common than the BT8. Both of these are typically used with 2,000 lb axles. A #84 spindle, like # TRU24FR or # TRU47FR is bigger and is used for 3,500 lb axles. Common sizes for these are 2-3/8 inch round axle, 3 inch round axle, and 2 inch square axle. I have linked a helpful page that shows the different...

  • Is Brown Discoloration on 3,500 lb Trailer Spindle OK
Definitely smart to check, and you're right that the brownish discoloration on your 3,500 lb trailer spindle like # TRU24FR is perfectly normal. Just the discoloration won't be an issue, and you can leave it be as that is just caused by heat and grease. The only issue would be if it was grooved or nicked somehow, but since it's perfectly smooth like you said, then the spindle is fine.

You should still be able to use your spindle without having to replace anything, especially because this is not in the seating areas for the bearings. Regardless, I recommend cleaning off the spindle with emery cloth to try to remove as much of the rust as possible.
