Its incredibly frustrating that etrailer will not provide dimensional information as to how far the brake plate needs to be from the tip of the axle or the bearing flange. Without this information it is very difficult to use these parts - we had to do it by trial and error and wasted a lot of time and money. The part is fine - lack of information is inexcusable.

Very good, bearings fit well. I wish the stub end was fully machined.

  • Is a Damaged Spindle Safe to Use If Hub Fits It
It might seem that the spindle being slightly bent isn't a big deal but it can definitely lead to another blowout so you'll want to replace that spindle with a new one. It looks like you have a straight spindle like the standard BT8 found as part # TRU94FR for a circular end or part # TRU97FR for a square end. A damaged spindle will cause more friction which, in turn, increases the amount of heat produced which can lead to your bearings failing or a tire blowout. So any time a spindle...

  • Hub with Bearings that Fits BT8 2k Axle Trailer Spindle TRU94FR
The BT8 spindle part # TRU94FR that you referenced is designed for 2,000 lb axles so for a hub that would fit this you would want the # 8-259-5UC1-EZ which comes with the correct bearings installed and is pre-greased and ready to install. The weld on portion of the spindle is 3-1/4 inches long.

  • Recommended Spindle/Hub Combo for a 1,750 lb Axle
Hey Stevan, the Replacement Hub Assembly # DM04369 is just the hub, so the spindle is not included. This is a replacement part for the Demco Kar Kaddy so it'd use the existing spindle and mounting bolts to install. For a spindle, the closest it looks like we carry is a 2,000 lb spindle like the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU94FR. This spindle would work great with the hub # 34822545BX for a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern, or # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K for a 4 on 4 bolt pattern - Both...

  • Are the TruRyde Spindle # TRU59FR and etrailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-2K Compatible
The TruRyde Spindle # TRU94FR and our Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-2K are not compatible, but you could use the TruRyde EZ Lube Spindle # TRU44FR instead as it has the correct spindle measurements. For a hub that will work with the TruRyde Spindle # TRU94FR you can use part # AKIHUB-545-2-1K. To determine if a hub is compatible with a specific spindle you will need to make sure that the inner diameters of the Inner Bearing, Outer Bearing, and Grease Seal of the hub matches...

The trailer hub part # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K that you referenced is designed to fit BT8 spindles like the part # TRU94FR. This spindle is designed for 2,000 lb axles so it would easily work on a 1,000 lb total trailer.

  • Needing Replacement Spindle for 1993 Jackson 3 Horse Slant Trailer
To recommend the correct replacement spindle, I'll need some more information. I'll need the axle capacity, as well as the reference numbers from the inner and outer bearing and the grease seal. If you cannot get the reference numbers, I'll need you to measure the diameter of the spindle where the inner and outer bearings ride, as well as the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides and the hub bore diameter where the grease seal installs. These measurements need to be precise,...

  • Available Sizes of Spindle Nuts and Nut/Washer Kits
The smallest spindle nut/washer kits we carry are for 1-inch spindles like # TRU94FR which are typically found on 2000-lb axles. We do offer a 7/8-inch inner diameter spindle nut # 165931 by itself but nothing for a 3/4-inch spindle as might be found on a small import trailer.

  • Solution for Replacement Parts for Boat Trailer With Hub Rubbing Trailer Axle
It looks like the hub is rubbing up against the trailer axle on your boat trailer. If I had to guess, I would say since that spindle is attached to the axle with U-bolts it probably shifted over time to a point where the hub is too close to the axle. Moving the spindle out slightly so the hub is no longer contacting that axle will likely take care of the issue unless other parts are damaged. Once you remove the wheel and hub I would inspect the hub, spindle, and axle to see what damage...

  • Availability of Axle that Works with 2,000 Pound Hubs with 1 Inch Bearings
Based on my research, the Ultra-Tow 57205 hub assembly you recently obtained is designed for 2,000 pound axles and uses the # L44643 inner and outer bearing, much like the etrailer.com # AKIHUB-545-2-1K. We do not currently have an axle that features the type of spindle needed for these hubs to fit, but you may be able to replace the spindle on your existing axle with the TruRyde # TRU94FR. This BT8 spindle will work perfectly with your hubs and it is designed for use on 2,000 pound axles....

Hey Bruce, thanks for writing in, and unfortunately you have what is called a stub spindle, and it's 3 inch length won't allow you to use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. There isn't a hub we have that can fit onto that short of a spindle, so the best thing we can offer is to replace the spindle with one that will work for you, the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU94FR. • Should a Spindle That is Chipping be Replaced
Anytime that a spindle is starting to take damage you will want to replace it as that will affect the performance of your bearings and seal. In this case since that chipping is right where the seal sits (as you mentioned) that will eat at the rubber seal which will likely cause it to fail. A failed seal will leak grease and cause further damage to your spindle/hub area. From the picture you sent in it looks like you have a round BT8 spindle. For replacements we have parts # TRU94FR, #...

Thanks for the pictures! If your spindle is 3-3/4" with the threads included then the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly item # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K will not fit. This would be why you couldn't get the castle nut to thread.
