Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Swan-Shaped Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs

Today we're going to be taking a look at the swan-shaped equalizer for two-inch wide slipper springs. This is going to connect slipper springs on dual or triple axle trailers. One end of the slipper spring attaches with a bolt and shackle strap. That would go on this end right here. That would go through the eye of the spring. The hardware to get that installed is not included, so it needs to be provided separately.

The other end, the arched end of the other spring, would rest on a keeper bolt at this location. Again, that hardware's sold separately also. Then the equalizer will be suspended from the center hanger, and that hardware that goes with the center hanger, as well as the center hanger, that's all sold separately. If you need any of those supplies, you can find that stuff right here at etrailer.com. This unit's designed to transfer the load and sudden impacts from one axle to another by permitting movement between the axles. It's really going to help distribute weight evenly, and it's going to result in a smooth ride for the trailer.

It's constructed of steel construction with a black finish. It's going to fit two-inch wide slipper leaf springs. The center bolt hold diameter, that's this hole right here, that's going to measure 7/8 of an inch. The side bolt hold diameter for mounting the spring, that's this one right here, 9/16 of an inch. The bolt hold diameter for the keeper bolt, right here, that's 5/16 of an inch. A few measurements to go over with real quick.

We're going to take a measurement from the center of the center hole to the center of this hole over here. If we do that, that's going to give us measurement . Let me make sure this straight. It's going to give us a measurement of around 4 5/8 of an inch. If we do a measurement from the center of the center hole to the hole down here, that's going to give us measurement of about 5 inches.

That's going to do it for today's look at the swan-shaped equalizer for two-inch wide slipper springs.

Your knowledge of the parts was excellent my trailer is an older model and I was concerned on receiving the correct parts. Thankfully they are a prefect fit and the delivery was right on time. Thanks John

  • How to Pick Out Slipper Spring Suspension Equalizers
If your trailer suspension seems to be in good shape, other than the broken equalizer, then you do not have to replace both sides if you do not want to. The best way to find the correct replacement equalizer is to measure the shackle bolt holes and make sure you choose the correct style equalizer (double-eye vs. slipper). What you will want to do is check out the link I attached that has all of the slipper spring equalizers we carry. You will need to find the shape of your equalizers...

  • Spring Hanger Spacing Dimensions for a Tandem Axle Slipper Spring Suspension on a 14,0000 lb Trailer
The hanger spacing for a tandem axle trailer suspension setup can be determined, but you need to take into account the axle spacing needed for the overall diameter of your wheel and tire combination and the springs you will be using. Lets say that you plan on using 4 of the 5-Leaf Slipper Springs, # e74SR, for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles, and that your wheel and tire combinations are the Karrier ST235/85R16 Wheel and Tire, # AM32764. The AM32764 wheel and tires overall diameter is 31.61 inches,...

  • Are Swan-Shaped Equalizers For 2" Wide Slipper Springs Sturdier Than Regular
Hi Austin, Nope, the 10-1/8" Swan-Shaped Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs # 13-4 isn't sturdier than the rectangle shape like part # TREQ1304, for example. The swan-shaped are just generally used for triple-axle trailers while the rectangle is generally for tandem axles. Most important is that you get equalizers the correct length, and the same as your current if possible. I have added a link below to our entire selection of equalizers for 2" wide slipper springs for you which you...
