First I want to thank you for NOT sending out a review question 2 days after shipping the product !
Everything for my new springs came in a timely manner and were as advertised. I did have to call because the springs I ordered were too stiff. No problem I returned them and got the ones i should have ordered. Trailer rides much better than when it was new.

by:

I purchased a number of products from etrailer and I am very pleased with them all. The shipper lost my axle. When I contacted etrailer customer service, they handled my problem quickly and I had a replacement axle in a couple days. Well done!

The products were all of high quality and the assemble was much easier as a result. I have attached a few pictures of the build for those interested.

Thanks etrailer for your great products and service!!

The APS1, APS2, and APS3 are all suspension kits for single-axle trailers with 1-3/4-inch double-eye springs. They are designed for use on trailers with single, 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb axles. The difference in the kits are in the rear hangers and the shackle straps. The Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # APS1, uses the Redline Rear Hanger, part # 30-20, which uses a steel bushing and is .91 inches tall. When choosing between the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APS1, part # APS2, and part # APS3 it will be best to use the one that has measurements that most closely resemble what is already on your trailer. For example, if your rear leaf spring hangers are 7/8" tall or shorter than you would want to use part # APS1 but if they are taller then this you would want to use part # APS2 or part # APS3. The only difference between the two latter kits is that part #...

Hi Barney! Any of the single axle kits you listed will work just fine for your single axle trailer. The main differences between the kits you listed is their height and how they install so I'll list out the differences below and you can decide from there which option is best for your trailer. - 1-1/2" Front, 7/8" Rear (4-1/4" or 4-1/2" clearance between trailer frame and axle) - Kit # APS1 - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear (4" or 4-1/2" clearance between trailer frame and axle) - Kit #...

  • Replacing Slipper Springs with Double-Eye Springs
If you are looking to replace your flat-end style slipper springs with a radius-type, you can use the same hangers you have only if they will accept the same size bolt as the radius-type springs. Otherwise you will need to get a new set of hangers and install them in place of the old ones. Also, you will want to replace the bolt as it is likely worn from the slipper spring. If you have a 2,000 lbs axle, you can use the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring with Radius End # SP-179275. This has an eye...

  • Can Boat Trailer Replace Slipper Springs With Double Eye Springs?
Yes, you can replace your slipper springs with double eye springs. The Double-Eye Spring # e27SR measure 26 inches from center of spring eye to center of spring eye and would work for you; these have a 2,250 lb capacity each though you will need to find springs that match your trailer's capacity as closely as possible. The other thing you would need is a hanger kit such as # APS3, which has 1-1/2" tall front hangers, 1-1/4" tall rear hangers, and 3-1/8" shackle straps. The correct hanger...

In the attached diagram the A measurement is actually the distance from the center of the spring hangers for a single axle trailer. The spring eye to spring eye measurement for your leaf springs will be slightly different. The B measurement that you see is simply the distance between the center of the axle and trailer frame. I have attached another diagram from the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs # APS3 product page to help demonstrate this. If you have an axle with...

  • How to Determine the Distance for Mounting Trailer Spring Hangers on a Single Axle Trailer
Spring Hanger location dimensions are normally figured by the manufacturer and provided with the spring hanger kit, that includes all of the parts for installing the springs on the trailer frame. I have provided a chart that shows the spring hanger locations for single axle trailers for you to review, see link. There are two considerations for mounting the spring hangers. First, the distance between the spring hangers as you have asked about. Second, the location of the axle when installed...

  • Single Axle Hanger Spacing Recommendation for a Leaf Spring # e54SR and Hanger Kit # APS3
I attached the chart you referenced and it states that when you use a # e54SR spring with a hanger kit part # APS3 the hanger distance should be 24-7/8 inches. The length of a spring when new and not installed on a trailer will be slightly shorter than when it flattens out from the weight of the trailer. Once the weight of the trailer is on the spring it will flatten out and be the right length.

  • Replacing Slipper Springs With Double-Eye Springs
There are no U-bolts to attach the slipper part, I recommend replacing your slipper springs with double eye springs. In order to do this you need to know the weight rating of your axle as well as the length from center eye to center eye so you can properly place your hangers. For example, the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e27SR measures 26 inches from center of spring eye to center of spring eye and has a 4,500 lbs capacity; you will need to find springs that match your trailer's capacity...

  • Can Trailer Suspension Hangers be Bolted On
The top holes you see in trailer suspension hangers such as Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear Item # APS3 are for button welds and not bolts so these hangers should not be bolts on. The problem is that with a weld the hanger is fixed and cannot move. With bolts no matter how tight you make them the bolt will always be smaller than the holes in the hangers and given the forces applied could cause the hangers to shift and throw off the alignment...

  • Determining Where To Install Hanger Kit APS3 with 26-1/2" Leaf Springs On Trailer
There isn't a set dimension on where to install the hangers of the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APS3 when you're using a 26-1/2" leaf spring, as it was really designed around a 25-1/2" leaf spring, so you'll need to tack weld the hangers in place until you get the correct shackle geometry but 25-3/4" spacing should be about right. This kit is only going to work with trailer leaf springs also, a vehicle leaf spring uses a completely different shackle bolt and will not fit in this hanger...

  • Replacement Hangers for Single Axle Trailer
The only hanger kits we have that are bolt on are the # CE14035G40 and # CE14026G. Your typical double-eye leaf spring is going to be 1-3/4" wide so neither of these would work. This means the only option would be weld-on hangers. For replacement hangers you want to choose the same size you currently have. The width will always be 1-3/4" so you will need the height which is the distance from center of bolt hole to the top of the hanger. The same is true for shackles. The # APS3 has 1-1/2"...

  • How to Determine the Spacing Between Axles when Building a 4-Axle Trailer
There are several things to consider when positioning axles on a trailer. I have included a picture that will help some but other factors include the springs and other suspension components you will be using. Also, a 4-axle trailer can potentially be a little troublesome because when turning the wheels can scrub (scrape the ground sideways). The closer the axles are together within reason the less likely this is to happen. But on 4 axles I do not think you will be able to avoid it completely. If...
