Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Rims look very nice in trailer, even after a year. They are holding up great and I am a very happy customer.

If I could put negative stars I would go negative 100+
I'll explain bought these rims because I pull trailer in winter and wagon wheels don't last figured galvanized would after installing towed 12 miles came home retorqued as recommended pulled 150 miles retorqued again (with impact) pulled about 200 miles and tire flew off in 4 lane rush hour traffic, found all lug nuts loose on remaining tires it broke off all 5 studs bent fender ground u bolts on axle almost off trying to get to side of road, couldn't find the tire it went into traffic how everybody missed it who knows while I was dealing with tow truck someone must have stopped and took it.$300 tow bill later put a couple of studs in so I could put spare on and get into shop the pictures are the damage the lug nuts didn't seem to fit in hole right two off the tires weren't loose by feel wiggling the tire while jacked up but the nuts were working regardless, looking at back of rim the holes are offset and don't sit flush on hub if you look at the one pic you can see my spare sits flush as did the other rims I replaced with these pos's. Basically the rim is relying in the bolt hole and surrounding steel to support the weight of trailer never going to happen maybe if your trailer is empty, bolted on there is a 1/8th inch space between the hub and lug nut JUNK DO NOT BUY I will have a grand into fixing what these rims did. as a note I have pulled trailer's for 40+ years I own 6 other trailers of various styles have never had a tire come loose much less 4 of them. I have bought other items with no problems

I reached out to the manufacturer in regard to the performance of the rims. I found that you would want to use a torque wrench versus an impact wrench, preferably one that clicks, otherwise the possibility of over-torque on the lugs is very real, as in this situation. If an impact wrench is the only option, it should be set to the lowest setting and used with extreme caution.

Great price, excellent product. A year after purchase, the wheels looks brand new. One minor concern: there was a small blob of galvanized metal right on the bead that I knew would cause a slow, so ground that off flush. Other than that extremely pleased with etrailer’s price, service and products. These galvanized rims are great. Highly recommend.

Great galvanized rims! They still look brand new, no worries about rust or corrosion, work well, and hold air. Definitely recommend.

Works great no rust looks nice still on my boat trailer

by:

Brite galvanized wheels they look like they will hold up and not rust.

by:

Fast delivery and products are exactly as described. I will continue to use etrailer for my trailer maintenance. Thanks.

by:

I got exactly what I ordered and it worked. I ordered a bigger tire and rims so I could clear backing into my drive way and it did work. How ever I have never had rims with galvanized finish. I ordered them and thats what I received. I think next spring Ill be buying some chrome ones from you? No sende putting them on during winter . Yes the shipping and the order was just as always, Great and fast . thanks

by:

I ordered this wheel for a spare tire on my trailer and it is a good quality wheel. Thank you

by:

Nice finish, perfect fit, fast shipping!

Installer pointed out a weld they felt was subpar on one of the 6, but it looked okay to me (I'm not a professional).

by:

No complaints. Have made a couple 500 mile trips on them with no issues.

by:

live next to the ocean and these rims don't turn to rust.

by:

Just what I needed, quick shipping.

by:

Nicely Packaged.

by:

Received the galvanized wheels, and the surface was rough most likely due to the galvanizing process. I was ok with that, but when my new tires were mounted, they could not be balanced due to out-of-round wheels (bad wobble on all 4) I returned them for full credit and ordered non-galvanized. The replacements balanced out perfectly. Faulty product cost me some time, but etrailer was great to work with.

by:

Happy

by:

so much better than the white wheels that came with the trailer . After five years needed to replace the tires ,and wanted to have rust free wheels on my new one's. pretty much carefree after one year another great product from etrailer . Thanks

by:

I ordered 4 new rims for my boat trailer. My previous painted rims were rusted enough that I was not confident that I would not have rim leaks (been there). The rims were just as promised. They came well protected in nice boxes. I had the tire installed and balanced. I noticed that they had to use quite a few weights (3 large on one side, 2 medium on other side) to get them balanced. I took one wheel to another shop just to check and yes the proper balancing required all that weight. I believe that the galvanizing material must flow to one side and be a little thicker there. No problem. Just think if I did not balance them how out-of-round they would have run. I have ordered quite a few things from etrailer and have not been disappointed in the products and the service.

by:

Overall, I found the quality of these wheels to be above average with a very surprisingly good finish. I've seen wheels of this type (galvanized finish) that appeared very rough and dull, which of course doesn't necessarily affect its performance, just its aesthetic quality. But these were bright, fairly smooth and actually quite attractive as well as appearing to be very well constructed.

Now for a negative note: of the 4 that I purchased, I was told by the folks at the garage that they noticed one of the wheels seemed to be a bit 'warped' and wobbled a bit while they were balancing the tires. They offered to show me and I confirmed that indeed one of the wheels had about an eighth inch of side to side wobble that could eventually cause adverse tire wear.

by:

Free Shipping came a day earlier than $48 three day shipping. What a bargain.

by:

I purchased four of these wheels to replace my camper wheels after a double blowout. For a galvanized coating they don't look bad at all, and were the cheapest by far I could find. Tires mounted and balanced easy. I'm hoping to get a very long time out of these, and I'll definitely be coming to etrailer again if I need anything else.

by:

Great online shopping experience. Replacing 2 utility trailer rims. Product is as described. Good price. Fast, free shipping. Will recommend etrailer.com.

by:

wheels were received , packed very good and are now mounted on my trailer. they look very good. The stainless steel lug nuts are perfect for this application also.

by:

I can’t write about the results of these products as I’m in the process of installing them...... a retrofit on my 50 year old trailer. I’m needing to do some extensive modifications to accommodate this new type of suspension. I would like to praise the sales & tech teams for their great support and timely delivery from Missouri to California (free shipping).

by:

Did I not get center caps w/these rims? The finish is not impressive.

The center caps do not come with this wheel you will need a center cap with a 3.19 pilot diameter. I recommend part 319EZ.

Tires that are 205/75-15 will fit on rims that are 5, 5-1/2, 6, or 6-1/2 inches wide. So either will work for you. Like the # AM20524 is a galvanized, 5 on 4-1/2 steel spoke wheel that is 15 by 6 inches and will work with your tires.

  • Galvanized Wheel and Tire Combo Recommendation for Tire Size 205/75-15 Load Range D
We don't have any wheel and tire combos that are exactly what you'd need so you'd need to use the wheel part # AM20524 which is a 15 inch galvanized wheel and then have the # TR20515D mounted locally so that you get the size, Load Range, and wheel construction you need. This tire also has a speed rating of 81 mph which is nice since most are only rated for 65.

  • What is the Capacity of a 15x6 Inch Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern
There are different capacities depending on the wheel. For 15x6 wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern we have the following capacities: # AM20522 and # AM20524 are rated for 2050 pounds at 75 psi # AM20504 is rated for 1820 pounds at 75 psi # AM22627, # AM20551, and # AM20537 are rated for 2150 pounds at 65 psi You would not use passenger vehicle wheels on a trailer. They are not rated for that application and often the offset and/or bolt pattern is not right for a trailer.

The Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20524 you referenced is not rated for a maximum psi. That rating will be in response to the valve stem and tire you use. • Recommendation to Replace ST225/75D-15 Tires on MacGregor Boat Trailer
Replacing the existing bias ply ST225/75D-15 tires on your boat trailer with radial ply alternatives is a great idea, as the radial construction is going to allow for better traction and cooler operation at higher speeds on the highway. Ideally it will result in a bit of a smoother ride when compared to the bias units the trailer's equipped with (along with a longer lifespan), however it's not going to really affect sway. Technically speaking bias ply tires actually have a stiffer sidewall...

  • How To Measure For Replacement Wheels For A Boat Trailer
Hey Gordon, If the sidewall of the tire says ST205/75R14 then you should have a 14" diameter wheel. The # AM20447 you were looking is a 15" wheel so you'd want to stick with a 14" wheel unless you have to clearance to increase the sizing. The wheel diameter is measured from bead to bead. I'd also check your wheel bolt pattern just to ensure you don't get the new wheel and find it doesn't match up to the stud pattern of the hub. I've attached a pic below showing how to measure. You could use a wheel with silver powder coat like # AM20436 and live with the color being off. Yes, so long as you have the needed clearance, you can certainly upgrade the tires on your boat trailer from 205/75R15 to 225/75R15. The 225/75R15 tires will add just over 1/2 inch to the top of the tire, and be about 1/4 inch closer to the frame (you want at about 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail).
