Lionshead Roadside Assistance Program

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.

1-Year No Excuses Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.

The Nitrogen Advantage

Nitro Fill Logo

The NitroFill inflation process filters out oxygen to ensure that this tire-and-wheel assembly is filled with 95 to 99.9 percent pure nitrogen. Nitrogen-inflated tires maintain pressure better than tires inflated with standard air. This makes them ideal for RVs and trailers that are driven infrequently or sit in storage for long periods of time. Other benefits of consistent tire pressure are better fuel economy, improved braking and handling, decreased chance of tire failure, and longer tire life.

A tire inflated with standard air, which contains oxygen, is prone to fluctuations in pressure due to loss of air over time and ambient temperature changes. Nitrogen-inflated tires don't experience these fluctuations for a couple reasons. First, nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules, so they are less likely to permeate a rubber tire. Second, nitrogen is a dry gas, so it won't allow condensation to build inside the tire. A tire inflated with standard air may have moisture in it, which means it is more likely to be affected by ambient temperature.

In addition, the moisture that can collect in a tire inflated with standard air will contribute to corrosion of the wheel and deterioration of the rubber tire from the inside out. A nitrogen-inflated tire-and-wheel assembly is less likely to experience this type of decay. Less moisture in the tire also means reduced running temperatures.

If necessary, you can top off the tire with standard compressed air. But to maintain the benefits of nitrogen, the tire must be refilled with nitrogen.

Steel Lug Nut Inserts

Lionshead Aluminum Wheels with Steel Lug-Nut Inserts

This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Castle Rock Radials

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the tread on these Castle Rock radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Castle Rock tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Castle Rock radials are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon cords. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Castle Rock Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - LH89FR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Castle Rock ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range C mounted on this 15 inch Black Liger Aluminum Wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. This is a nitrogen filled tire, which will maintain tire pressure longer than standard air, and the way you can tell it's nitrogen filled is all you have to do is look at where the valve stem is, and they use a valve cap that's a green color, that green cap will designate that it is filled with nitrogen. Now, nitrogen will help prolong the life of the tire and the wheel. The wheel itself is an aluminum wheel, it's very durable, lightweight, and rustproof.

This one happens to be the Liger Series, which as you can see, is a five spoke design in the black finish, has the machine face on the edge of the spokes and even on the lip. And they do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to protect that wheel from any scuffs or scratches. I wanna zoom in and show you, if you look around the lug nut wells right here, they do use steel inserts in those lug nut wells, and the reason they do that is to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub, it prevents those lug holes for elongating or wearing down, so eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts. Now, the tire itself is a Castle Rock Radial Tire, it is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon plies, does also offer a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation, and this tire is a radial tire, so it is great for highway use. Wanna show you the tread.

If I turn this tire, and if you look at the tread design on this, they do siping on the tread block. So if you look at the block here, notice how they have these cuts or lines in them, that's called the siping, and what that does is that'll channel water away from underneath the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. Now, this tire is an ST tire, stands for special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewalls, so they can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use for other vehicles. This whole assembly does come with complimentary roadside assistance for two years, offers flat tire service available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico.

And this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation Specification, the tire itself meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and the wheel meets the SAE J1204 standards. Now this wheel, if you can see the center hole in it, this goes over the hub on your trailer, this is the pilot hole, does have a diameter of 3.19 inches. Now, this does not come with a center cap, if you do need a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website, and you do wanna make sure to purchase a center cap that'll have a diameter of that 3.19 inches, 'cause your center cap will go through this hole. Few specs on this, the diameter of the wheel only is 15 inches, the width on just the wheel is five inches wide. The bolt pattern on this wheel is a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern, and if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs, in this case five.

All you have to do is pick any hole, let's say this one, and then you'll be measuring across to either one of these holes from this hole, but the trick is when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whatever hole you measure to. So on this one, it'll measure 4 1/2 inches, so this is a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This does use a wheel lug size of a 1/2 inch by 20, and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 1,820 pounds. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 205/75R15, the R tells you that it is a radial design tire. Section width is eight inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 27.1 inches, and this is a Load Range C tire, which means it's a six ply rated tire, has a maximum load capacity of 1,820 pounds at 50 psi. And the last thing I do wanna mention is the speed rating on this. Most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating, and they will stamp that on the sidewall using a letter designation. And normally where that is it's usually right after, so here it'll say speed rating L, and then it'll say 75 miles per hour, so this tire does have a speed rating L, which is 75 mile per hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on this Castle Rock ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in the Load Range C on this 15 inch Black Liger Aluminum Wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern..

To determine if you will be able to move from your ST205/75R14 # AM34659 to a 15" you will need to check for how much clearance you have.
