Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Fast service, fast delivery. I went from the standard 8.10 trailer tire to the slightly larger radial on the front last summer. I just replaced the back two with the same radials yesterday. So far I’m very happy with them all

by:

Great service I did not know the difference between a bias tire and a radial! Apparently the radio is what you want if you're going to go cross country thanks again to e trailer.

Everyone wants a pat on the back these days. So Ill give you one. The wheels and tires still look good and function well. I took a 5,000 mile round trip to Idaho and back and the tires show no wear! Wheels still look good. Thanks for your help.

by:

I needed tires for my 600LB popup camper. I wanted steel belts in tire because I've had better luck with them holding up better over the years. These tire look and fit good. So time will tell how they hold up.

Not a year yet, but vacation Jan 2024, took me over 2000 milestotal on these tires , Northern Indiana to Sebring Florida and back. No problems with tires.

by:

The tire arrived today. Just installed it. No issues. Thanks for the prompt service. Ask me again after I have driven a few miles and retightened the lug nuts.

by:

Since I live in a medium size city I use the internet a lot to order goods. Recently I concluded I needed new tires for my 1995 boat trailer I use for my Aluma Craft boat. However popular tire sizes have changed substantially since 1995. I had problems finding the right size for my trailer. Plus I wanted to order rims with the tires so I could install them myself. Fortunately I found etrailer.com which had the right size available at a very reasonable price. I ordered and had my rims and tires within a few days. They are in excellent condition and have been installed. What a pleasant ordering experience. I give etrailer.com an A+ for service, availability, and price!

by:

Kenda tires and wheels arrived on schedule and in great shape. I plan to install them this coming weekend.

by:

I needed to replace my old trailer tires. I wanted tires and rims. I am very pleased I found this item. This has a slightly higher profile than my former tires that were also 12". I had the room in my wheel well. Not problems installing.

by:

Bout a yr after getting tires and using them on my boat trailer, they have performed well! Probably 5000 miles, and almost no wear. Good purchase.

by:

Excellent service product was on time. Tires and rims look like good Quality

by:

Arrived as scheduled. Upgraded retrofitted jetski (kayak) trailers bias tires to these radials. Bearings and tires were the first items to check off tight lines all.

by:

Very good customer service. We ordered the wrong tires for our Camper online. I called but the orginal order had already shipped. They were able to get the right tires out and we received both orders the very next day. Took the wrong tires to UPS and shipped them back to them. We were going camping on Friday so having the quick turn around was fantastic. We ordered them on Wednday, received them on Thursday, put them on the camper so we were ready to go on Friday. Great job! We were frantic trieing to find the right tires for out camper and they came through with flying colors. I have told everyone I know that has a trailer or camper about the extra ordinary service.

Very pleased with radial tire upgrade.

by:

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Put them on a 1,000 lb teardrop trailer and just returned from a 750 mile trip. Seemed to be fine at highway spees (70+) as well as curvy mountain roads. Time will tell, but I hope these tires are overkill for my application.

by:

Thanks for the great service! The evidently hard to find ST145R12 D tires are on my pop Up. Rims were superior to what I was replacing and what I expected. I'm looking forward to trying out the tires very soon.

by:

Tires were boxed together and were heavy and bulky. It would be much easier for everyone to handle.Try picking up the box with 2 tires in it!

by:

From the moment these arrived, I could tell they were better than what I had been using. I have had 3 tires blow in the last few years with my camper. They all have had good tread left and no obvious reason why they blew. But, these Kenda tires showed that there was just a better tire out there. Going from my previous camper trailer tire to these was like going from your spare to your regular car tire. These handled great on our first outing. I have a TPMS tire sensor on my tires and, compared to my previous tires, the pressure and temperature of the tires didn't increase nearly as much during the drive. It was also great to have a higher speed rating so I could go the speed limit (70-75mph) and not be over the speed rating of 81mph. While I have only had them for 1 trip, I hope to rely on them for lots of future trips with much more peace of mind.

by:

This is my 2nd order from etrailer.
This
outfit has the right stuff, at the right price. And they get it to you fast.
Kenda LR D radials will allow me to tow my full-size motorcycles without stressing about blowouts.

by:

Tires work great, I had them balanced and tow nice.
In photo that’s bias ply on left, not much difference in sizes

by:

Fast delivery with clear tracking and updates. Wonderful customer service with follow up check in after delivery. Very pleased.

by:

Made in USA wheel, made in Taiwan tire...decent combo...

by:

Fast turnaround time from order time! Received our delivery in 3 - 4 days. Excellent communication. We were quickly advised of receipt of the order, shipping and expected delivery date. The order got delivered a day before the stated delivery date. Great job!!!

by:

The service is very good. They shipped the very next day and delivery was very fast.
The parts was excellent and fit perfectly.

by:

We are very pleased with these highly rated tires, will buy them again when needed. After experiencing a blow out with lesser tires, we did a lot of research and came up with this tire, found the best price and service on eTrailer.com. Over 1000 miles on these tires so far and they still look new.

Great tire/wheel

by:

3+ stars for the Product, 5 for etrailer = 4+ Average. As you probably already know, etrailer is a bastion of information about trailer questions and problems. My original 20.5 x 8 - 10s were always too wide for my 1995 Fleetwood Utah pop-up camper, requiring a crowbar to wedge them back into place between the frame and the 7" electric brake hub. In one section on the etrailer website I found someone who had the same problem, and these wheels were recommended (being narrower by about 2.5"), so I ordered three (one for a spare) after measuring my camper carefully.

The wheels arrived promptly. Two had some slight wobble to both the rim and tire (runout), but the third was really bad. (I replaced and checked one of my originals - it also had some slight runout; I guess trailer wheels are not perfect?) I called etrailer customer service to explain my dissatisfaction with the one wheel. The rep (who is evidently learning the trade) was not familiar with the term "runout", and twice had to put me on hold to confer with the techs. When I was told I would be called sometime later in the week by a tech, I was worried, anticipating a long drawn-out return process. However, I was very surprised when I was called by the same rep early the next morning and was told that a new wheel was being shipped to me immediately (even before I shipped my wobbler back), along with a printable call tag via email to ship the wobbler back - all for free! That's customer service! The new one also arrived promptly - it has runout about the same as the other two, so I kept it.

Lessons here: research on etrailer to solve your problems; mount your wheels carefully and check them for runout before you tow your rig an inch; use a reputable company like etrailer, so if you have a problem, you have some recourse.

  • Can You Use a 4.80x12 Trailer Tire As a Spare for 145/12 Trailer Tire
I can't recommend using different size tires on a trailer, even for short distances. That said, a 145/12 tire measures 21.3" diameter x 5.7" wide and a 4.80x12 tire measures 20.6" diameter x 4.8" wide. Therefore, there's only a difference of .7" diameter and .9" width. If I were you, I would probably just use the smaller size as a spare until I could get the trailer into a shop for the correct size. That said, I also can't really officially recommend this. If you want to upgrade I recommend...

  • Replacement Wheel and Tire for 1999 Flagstaff 208 With 4.80-12 Tires
Based on what I have found, it looks like the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel # AM30620 is a direct replacement for your 1999 Flagstaff 208.
