Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Had a boat trailer tire (NOVA METRIC RADIAL M+S 155R12 76S) go flat which led me down a slippery slope of not finding a replacement. Fortunately, by entering the tire info into a search it led me to where someone else with a similar trailer tire was able to get this new replacement tire and rim with an actual better load rating than the old tire. Decided to replace both trailer tires & they arrived earlier than original estimated shipping arrival date & I am pleased with these tires!

Quite honestly the new tires mounted on new rims were not immediately mounted on my son’s river boat trailer. Due to procrastination he waited until the fishing got good & went to fetch his boat that one of his old tires had a major blowout, which then forced him to install the two new tiresrims. Fortunately, I haven’t heard of any issues since then!

First off, never give a review until you experience the product, next I had an ordering SNFU, the eTrailer Team corrected quickly (was my fault). Got the wheels and tires earlier than expected and they fit well. I up sized from the 10-12 bias to the ST145/R12 radial. With over 1500 miles on them now, I am still pleased with this purchase. Will recommend the eTrailer Team.

I have them on a trailer that I use for multiple activities. Not too much weight on it. I use it about every other week from spring through fall. My only issue is that they do not have a speed rating.

Thank you for your review! You mentioned the tires didnt have a speed rating, but I was able to find that specification on the website and wanted to let you know what it is. Our site says these have an M speed rating, which means the maximum speed is 81 mph.

Still in good shape after several trips.

This is currently just a spare tire so can't comment on wear. But I adjusted the air when I got it and haven't had to touch it since. Unlike some cheaper tires I have purchased in the past that seem to constantly need to be aired back up.

Good information and follow-up from very knowledgeable e-trailer staff. Radial tires for small trailer was wonderful upgrade. Always great service from e-trailer.

Arrived as scheduled. Upgraded retrofitted jetski (kayak) trailers bias tires to these radials. Bearings and tires were the first items to check off tight lines all.

Since I live in a medium size city I use the internet a lot to order goods. Recently I concluded I needed new tires for my 1995 boat trailer I use for my Aluma Craft boat. However popular tire sizes have changed substantially since 1995. I had problems finding the right size for my trailer. Plus I wanted to order rims with the tires so I could install them myself. Fortunately I found which had the right size available at a very reasonable price. I ordered and had my rims and tires within a few days. They are in excellent condition and have been installed. What a pleasant ordering experience. I give an A+ for service, availability, and price!

I needed to replace my old trailer tires. I wanted tires and rims. I am very pleased I found this item. This has a slightly higher profile than my former tires that were also 12". I had the room in my wheel well. Not problems installing.

Thanks for the great service! The evidently hard to find ST145R12 D tires are on my pop Up. Rims were superior to what I was replacing and what I expected. I'm looking forward to trying out the tires very soon.

Very good customer service. We ordered the wrong tires for our Camper online. I called but the orginal order had already shipped. They were able to get the right tires out and we received both orders the very next day. Took the wrong tires to UPS and shipped them back to them. We were going camping on Friday so having the quick turn around was fantastic. We ordered them on Wednday, received them on Thursday, put them on the camper so we were ready to go on Friday. Great job! We were frantic trieing to find the right tires for out camper and they came through with flying colors. I have told everyone I know that has a trailer or camper about the extra ordinary service.

Amazingly fast shipping! The tires are perfect. Never seen such good customer service from an online store.

These still look new after one year outside in the elements. Put these tires on to replace some smaller tires I bought trying to save money. etrailer has always had great products and service, they are my first stop for anything towing or trailer related.

Good packaging. Proper inflation. Replaced bias tires. Radials better suited for extended high speed highway travels.

Great product and fast shipping

Good price,quick delivery

3+ stars for the Product, 5 for etrailer = 4+ Average. As you probably already know, etrailer is a bastion of information about trailer questions and problems. My original 20.5 x 8 - 10s were always too wide for my 1995 Fleetwood Utah pop-up camper, requiring a crowbar to wedge them back into place between the frame and the 7" electric brake hub. In one section on the etrailer website I found someone who had the same problem, and these wheels were recommended (being narrower by about 2.5"), so I ordered three (one for a spare) after measuring my camper carefully.

The wheels arrived promptly. Two had some slight wobble to both the rim and tire (runout), but the third was really bad. (I replaced and checked one of my originals - it also had some slight runout; I guess trailer wheels are not perfect?) I called etrailer customer service to explain my dissatisfaction with the one wheel. The rep (who is evidently learning the trade) was not familiar with the term "runout", and twice had to put me on hold to confer with the techs. When I was told I would be called sometime later in the week by a tech, I was worried, anticipating a long drawn-out return process. However, I was very surprised when I was called by the same rep early the next morning and was told that a new wheel was being shipped to me immediately (even before I shipped my wobbler back), along with a printable call tag via email to ship the wobbler back - all for free! That's customer service! The new one also arrived promptly - it has runout about the same as the other two, so I kept it.

Lessons here: research on etrailer to solve your problems; mount your wheels carefully and check them for runout before you tow your rig an inch; use a reputable company like etrailer, so if you have a problem, you have some recourse.

NO problems with the tires. Weve put almost a thousand miles on these wheels and they have performed well. No issues Im a happy camper!

Great quality!

Fast service, great people to deal with, tire and wheel arrived packaged in a box in perfect condition. Always had good service from these people.

The 2 Kenda Karrier S-trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/12" White Spoke Wheel - 5 0n 4-1/2 - LR -D (AM31199DX) tire/wheels were purchased to replace 2 old & worn 6.00-12 tire/wheels on a used boat trailer recently purchased off craigslist. The 2 new tire/wheels were shipped free and arrived within two days of ordering. They were fully inflated and fit the boat trailer perfectly. The new tire/wheels were reasonably priced and the cost free shipping and followup postal tracking and delivery confirmation suggest a very well administered customer service system. Well Done!

The6.00-12 tirewheels are still working well after sitting through a Michigan winter on a boat trailer exposed to snow, rain, etc. Very satisfied with them and again grateful for the free shipping that brought them to me.

I was looking for 12" radial wheels and rims for a small trailer. The bias ply tires get hot on the hwy and I did not want to risk a problem. Plus I wanted a spare. I ordered a pair of tires. The online order process is simple and smooth. The shipping was free(I hit a promotion) and the order arrived in 3 days. Very cool. However the box was open when it arrived. This may have occurred from the packaging(simple heavy staples) or it could possibly been opened by driver. Either way I dropped a star. The tires are undameged. I cannot comment on the quality of the product as I have just recieved it.

So far, my wife and I have made 3 trips to Houston, TX from Illinois with the Kenda Karrier tires placed on a camper trailer, this past year. I purchased 2 tires that were delivered free to my home. etrailer was very helpful in selecting the perfect tire mounted on a wheel for my application.
Thanks etrailer

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Thank you Matt! Matt helped us find the right product. We ordered this spare tire along with the CE Smith spare tire carrier for our pontoon yacht club trailer. Great quality spare tire.
Also, the items we have ordered are shipped and received quickly!

I purchased these tires hoping they would perform well under tough situations like long hauls and gravely terrain launch sites. These radials are wearing three times better than previous 10 ply rated bias tires. Excellent product and am well pleased with my purchase. Again thank you .

Your radial tires are awesome. I’ve put three times the miles on these as the bias 10 ply tires before that I had.
Fair F - 11/18/2020

These work great on a 5X8 open trailer. They are quiet and wear much better than bias ply tires.

Almost 2000 miles on the tires and they still look great.
Bruce M - 04/01/2021

Found the tires/wheels I wanted in the load range I needed. My local garage couldn't find them.

They are great for my utility trailer. Theyve hauled 40 bags of mulch several times, small loads of gravel and plywood.

  • Recommend Upgrade for 20.5x8-10 Trailer Tires
The next size up from a 10" wheel would be a 12" wheel, the closest to a 20.5x8-10 tire would be a 145/80-12. For this, I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel part # AM31199DX which is a pre-mounted combo that comes with a radial ply tire and powder coated white steel wheel.

  • Available Trailer Tires with 5-Bolt Lug Pattern
The 4 x 12-inch rims you have now for your 4.80-12 trailer tires cannot accept another tire size so in order to use wider tires you will also need new wheels. Since there are several types of 5-lug trailer wheels I have linked you to our main page for all wheel/tire combinations. The most popular 5-bolt type is the 5-on-4-1/2 pattern but the linked article will show you how to confirm which you have. Then simply click on that bolt pattern on the linked page to see options. You definitely don't want to use different sized tires because it will cause your trailer to sit uneven and will cause uneven wear both on the tires as well as your trailer suspension and who knows what else. I really wouldn't advise using that as a spare unless you are only going to be traveling a very short distance for repairs (like within a mile). I personally recommend going with the tire size 145/80-12 because these come in radial which are much better for highway use than bias tires...

If you measure the outside of a trailer rim the overall diameter won't necessarily match the size. That's because of the mounting lip. But since we know your tire size is 145R12 we know you have a 12 inch rim. For a replacement wheel and tire in that size the part # AM31199DX would be a great option.
