Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I needed tires for my 600LB popup camper. I wanted steel belts in tire because I've had better luck with them holding up better over the years. These tire look and fit good. So time will tell how they hold up.

Not a year yet, but vacation Jan 2024, took me over 2000 milestotal on these tires , Northern Indiana to Sebring Florida and back. No problems with tires.

by:

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Put them on a 1,000 lb teardrop trailer and just returned from a 750 mile trip. Seemed to be fine at highway spees (70+) as well as curvy mountain roads. Time will tell, but I hope these tires are overkill for my application.

Good information and follow-up from very knowledgeable e-trailer staff. Radial tires for small trailer was wonderful upgrade. Always great service from e-trailer.

Very pleased with radial tire upgrade.

From the moment these arrived, I could tell they were better than what I had been using. I have had 3 tires blow in the last few years with my camper. They all have had good tread left and no obvious reason why they blew. But, these Kenda tires showed that there was just a better tire out there. Going from my previous camper trailer tire to these was like going from your spare to your regular car tire. These handled great on our first outing. I have a TPMS tire sensor on my tires and, compared to my previous tires, the pressure and temperature of the tires didn't increase nearly as much during the drive. It was also great to have a higher speed rating so I could go the speed limit (70-75mph) and not be over the speed rating of 81mph. While I have only had them for 1 trip, I hope to rely on them for lots of future trips with much more peace of mind.

Fast turnaround time from order time! Received our delivery in 3 - 4 days. Excellent communication. We were quickly advised of receipt of the order, shipping and expected delivery date. The order got delivered a day before the stated delivery date. Great job!!!

by:

The service is very good. They shipped the very next day and delivery was very fast.
The parts was excellent and fit perfectly.

by:

Tires work great, I had them balanced and tow nice.
In photo that’s bias ply on left, not much difference in sizes

by:

We are very pleased with these highly rated tires, will buy them again when needed. After experiencing a blow out with lesser tires, we did a lot of research and came up with this tire, found the best price and service on eTrailer.com. Over 1000 miles on these tires so far and they still look new.

by:

This is the third time I have ordered from etrailer and each time the customer service has been excellent. I put new tires on 2 boat trailers and could not be more pleased with the tires and the quick delivery! Thank you!

by:

Since I live in a medium size city I use the internet a lot to order goods. Recently I concluded I needed new tires for my 1995 boat trailer I use for my Aluma Craft boat. However popular tire sizes have changed substantially since 1995. I had problems finding the right size for my trailer. Plus I wanted to order rims with the tires so I could install them myself. Fortunately I found etrailer.com which had the right size available at a very reasonable price. I ordered and had my rims and tires within a few days. They are in excellent condition and have been installed. What a pleasant ordering experience. I give etrailer.com an A+ for service, availability, and price!

Had a boat trailer tire (NOVA METRIC RADIAL M+S 155R12 76S) go flat which led me down a slippery slope of not finding a replacement. Fortunately, by entering the tire info into a search it led me to etrailer.com where someone else with a similar trailer tire was able to get this new replacement tire and rim with an actual better load rating than the old tire. Decided to replace both trailer tires & they arrived earlier than original estimated shipping arrival date & I am pleased with these tires!

Jerry

Quite honestly the new tires mounted on new rims were not immediately mounted on my son’s river boat trailer. Due to procrastination he waited until the fishing got good & went to fetch his boat that one of his old tires had a major blowout, which then forced him to install the two new tiresrims. Fortunately, I haven’t heard of any issues since then!

by:

Yet to road text these tires. Purchased these to replace the bias ply tires that came with my Harbor Freight 1720 pound trailer. The fit was perfect with just enough space between tire and trailer.

by:

I needed to replace my old trailer tires. I wanted tires and rims. I am very pleased I found this item. This has a slightly higher profile than my former tires that were also 12". I had the room in my wheel well. Not problems installing.

by:

I ordered these tires for a pop up that we have. I needed them in three days. I paid $[XX] for shipping and didn’t receive the tires until six days later. I’m not a happy camper. I called customer service and spoke with them about this issue. They have not refunded my shipping money yet.

by:

Arrived as scheduled. Upgraded retrofitted jetski (kayak) trailers bias tires to these radials. Bearings and tires were the first items to check off tight lines all.

by:

Quick delivery, well packaged and better than average product.

by:

Very good customer service. We ordered the wrong tires for our Camper online. I called but the orginal order had already shipped. They were able to get the right tires out and we received both orders the very next day. Took the wrong tires to UPS and shipped them back to them. We were going camping on Friday so having the quick turn around was fantastic. We ordered them on Wednday, received them on Thursday, put them on the camper so we were ready to go on Friday. Great job! We were frantic trieing to find the right tires for out camper and they came through with flying colors. I have told everyone I know that has a trailer or camper about the extra ordinary service.

by:

Excellent experience, wheels package very nice and no damage at delivery.

by:

Great product and price! Unbelievable service received order in 3 days.

by:

Great service I did not know the difference between a bias tire and a radial! Apparently the radio is what you want if you're going to go cross country thanks again to e trailer.

by:

Thanks for the great service! The evidently hard to find ST145R12 D tires are on my pop Up. Rims were superior to what I was replacing and what I expected. I'm looking forward to trying out the tires very soon.

by:

I needed an 81 mph rated tire for cross country trip with 15'sailboat. Most 12"x4" tires are biased ply and only rated for 65 mph. This tire is a radial tire and still fit within my 7" fenders. I had them balanced, and two of the three needed weights.

by:

It’s been a great tire an wheel. We ave put on over 4000 miles on them this last winter.

by:

First off, never give a review until you experience the product, next I had an ordering SNFU, the eTrailer Team corrected quickly (was my fault). Got the wheels and tires earlier than expected and they fit well. I up sized from the 10-12 bias to the ST145/R12 radial. With over 1500 miles on them now, I am still pleased with this purchase. Will recommend the eTrailer Team.

  • Should Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tire & Wheel AM31199DX Lose 5 PSI Overnight
First, thanks for the purchase of the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # AM31199DX, and they shouldn't be losing 5 psi overnight, but it likely isn't a cause for concern. There are a couple very likely things that could be happening, starting with when you inflated them. If it was quite warm, say in the afternoon and evening, they are going to lose air pressure going to a lower ambient temperature overnight. Another thing that could be happening is...

The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D item # AM31199DX would be a great replacement tire for your utility trailer. The 4.80 x 12 tires you already have give you an overall diameter of 20.7" and width of 4.9". The Kenda tires are 21.3" tall and 5.7" wide. So you are looking at just over a 1/2" taller at .6" and almost an 1" wider at .8". They recommend a minimum 3" of clearance between the fender and the top of your tire and 1" clearance...

  • Determining Correct Tire and Wheel Size for Trailer with 2,000 Pound Axle
There is not a specific tire/wheel size that is recommended for your trailer, although you are likely limited to a maximum 12 inch wheel size with the hubs for its 2,000 pound axle. I recommend taking a look at the tire size you currently have mounted, which will be located on the sidewall of the tire itself. If there are no tires or wheels present, you can also look for a sticker or plate somewhere on the trailer that might indicate the recommended tire size. Otherwise, you will just...

Changing your tires from a 530-12 to 145/80-12 will not cause any issues with the diameter of the tires as the 530-12 tire measures 21.9 inches and the 145/80-12 measures 21.3 inches. The width of the tires differ as well. The 530-12 tire measures 5.3 inches wide and the 145/80-12 tire measures 5.7 inches wide. If you measure the outside of a trailer rim the overall diameter won't necessarily match the size. That's because of the mounting lip. But since we know your tire size is 145R12 we know you have a 12 inch rim. For a replacement wheel and tire in that size the part # AM31199DX would be a great option.
