Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

Very disappointed, The tire was received with no air pressure and the tire bead was not seated to the tire rim on one side. When I tried to fill the tire with air from my air compressor, the value stem broke off.
I called etrailer and they referred me to the Kenda warranty department. Called Kenda and left a message (no one answered) and also sent an email with pic's.
I needed this for my snowmobile trailer, and the season is running short.
Not sure if I will order another tire from etrailer again. I have had good experience with other items I have ordered from etrailer. Was hopping etrailer would just send me another tire right away. Now I have to deal with Kendra.

The reason we dont just send one right off the bat is because Kenda has requested we go through them with any warranty claims, first. But, I reached out on your behalf, and they are going to be reaching out to you about making a claim. Thanks for letting us know about this! We definitely didnt want you to be left hanging!

Bought 2 for snowmobile trailer. One is completely flat and off the bead every time I look at trailer. Using dunk tank found 2 holes in center of tread. Very low miles, maybe 40, with one mile of gravel. Only thought is gravel poked holes in soft rubber. Needless to say I do not really trust the tires and am afraid to go to fast or far with them. etrailer told me to contact tire manufacturer.

by:

All interactions were professional and courteous and caring. Shipping was accurate and timely. Only concern was that the galvanized rims were blotchy and uneven and not as I imagined. Perhaps the galvanization process causes this? Overall still a 5 star rating however.

by:

I'm no tire expert but they appear to be very high quality and they come mounted and inflated on new nice looking galvanized rims. The date code shows they're less than 1 year old. I think I saved about $50 dollars per tire compared to the prices at the local hardware stores and the tires at etrailer had a much higher load rating. These tires have an E-rating and the hardware store tires were B-rated. I really wanted to by the tires locally on my day off to be done with this task but I only had to wait about 3 days for them to arrive and it was like Christmas for grown ups when I got home from work and found them on the stoop. I'm really glad that I bought them here.

by:

Just put these wheels on my new home built Inflatable Boat carrier. I needed low profile wheels that were just big enough to fit over 7 inch brake drums. Working on getting fenders on my new project

by:

Exactly what I need for my snowmobile trailer. The galvanizing looks sharp and I hope holds up better long term than paint would. Shipping was fast and the price was fair. Will purchase again if needed.

by:

We purchased these to upgrade the wheels and tires on our PWC Trailer to put a little more surface rubber on the road prior to a move from GA to FL (approximately 500 miles). They performed flawlessly for the long drive to FL and since living here nearly a year we have traveled all over the state pulling our skis and launching in fresh and saltwater and these tires and wheels are still perfect!

by:

excellent product fast shipping. tires are on and rides smooth. thanks

by:

Tires and wheels worked out awesome

by:

Great tires and wheels. Fast shipping. Will buy from again

by:

Excellent tire for my Pontoon trailer. Wasn't deflated, full of air and ready to install. Shipping was very fast as well. A+

by:

Trailer tires were received quickly, however they were almost 2 years old. 1 Year and 9 months to be exact. I bought these tires to replace tires that failed less than 5 years from date of manufacture with less than 2,000 miles on them. Remember, trailer tires usually need replacement due to age, not mileage. 4-6 years is a good rule of thumb to avoid being stranded on the side of the road. Discouraging to pay for "New" tires that have had the shelf life clock ticking for almost 2 years.

by:

Very fast shipping! And great customer service will order all my tires from here,. From now out

by:

Etire is a one stop shop. They had everything I needed and even more . I’ll order from them again.

by:

Easy ordering and quick delivery. The tires and rims are of good quality.

by:

Great fit for the trailer

Pulled my pontoon from GA to MA no problems great tire..

by:

The galvanized rim is the best.

by:

My hobby is buying older boats, refurbishing, and selling them. This is the 3rd set of trailer tires I've purchased from trailer. They always have what I need, always a great price, always receive them in less than a week, and always excellent quality. I don't even look anyplace else anymore. They do it the way it should be done.

by:

Excellent looking tread pattern. I did not expect a Hi pressure Valve Stem, which is a plus.

by:

Product shipped quickly, looks like a good product, but the galvanized rim can chip easily.

by:

Awesome service. Only quality tires...none of this BS where they are selling you a tire rated at 65 mph and a load rating thats low. And shipped for free also !!! I'm sold on eTrailer !

by:

Great looking tire and wheel …. Great for a spare on a long jet ski trailer trip

by:

Very fast delivery and exactly as descr ibed!

by:

Bought this as a spare. Exactly what I needed and at a great price.

by:

Refurbishing a jet ski trailer into a fishing kayak trailer and all the parts ordered from etrailer have worked great and the website made it easy to find what I needed.

  • Why Is Kenda 205/65-10 Wheel And Tire Combination AM3H480 Not Recommended For Boat Trailers?
The reason the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # AM3H480 you were looking at calls out not being ideal for a boat trailer is due to the wheel, not the tire. The included wheel is powder coated steel which can chip and rust when being submerged in water, and is not ideal for boat trailers as they are constantly in water. The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Galvanized Wheel # AM3H490 will work well on a tandem axle trailer. The bias ply construction of the tire does not have a correlation to the number of axles on the trailer. A bias or radial trailer tire can be used on a tandem axle trailer. I believe these Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E are what you are looking for. They are part # AM3H490. The pilot hole is 2.8", so I hope you have a little wiggle room there. Trailer tires are lug centric, so as long as the wheel will fit over the hub bore, then it will center off the lugs. There is no offset on this wheel.
