Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA92FR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Taskmaster S T 2 25 75 D 15 bias trailer tire in a load range D mounted on this 15 inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly is ideal for boat trailers, stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel it's mounted on is a nice steel wheel has the spoke design to it. And the wheel is sturdy and corrosion resistant. Now the wheel itself goes through a three-step finishing process, which will first include a zinc phosphate bath and an e-coat primer and then they do a white powder coat on the outside of the wheel.

If I spin it around on the back, you can see the inside of the wheel. They lightly e-coat it to reduce friction and provide rust resistance. Now, this wheel also offers ITR technology want to zoom in to show you that. It stands for improved torque retention. It's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer.

And they do that by using these uncoated stud holes that are beveled to give you better clamp force retention when you're tightening the lug nuts to the wheel. Now the tire itself that's mounted on this is a bias ply tire. It is constructed with strong nylon cords. It's great for low speed applications like off road and agricultural use. And this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it does exceed the federal motor vehicle safety standards.

A few specs on this we'll start with the wheel. The diameter on the wheel is 15 inches. The width on just the wheel by itself is six inches wide. The bolt pattern on this wheel is a six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that, it's pretty easy on a wheel that's an even number of lugs like in this case, six lugs cause the lug holes are right across from each other.

So all you have to do is pick any hole. Let's say this one and you're measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. So on this wheel, it'll measure five and a half inches. So it's a six lug five and a half inch bolt pattern. The wheel lug size that it uses is a half inch by 20. Now the weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 2,830 pounds. And the pilot hole diameter, it's this large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of this opening is 4.25 inches. Now the tire size that'll be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 2 25 75 D 15, the D stands for diagonal belt, which means that is a bias tire. Section width is 8.8 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated it's 28.3, this tire is a load range D which means it's an eight ply rated tire. Has a maximum load capacity of 2,540 pounds at 65 PSI And the last thing I do want to mention is the new trailer tires all come through with speed ratings now, and they stamp it on the tire by a letter designation. And it's usually right after the tire size. So right down here, there's a tire size. And then if you look a little past it right here, it'll say 113M. The one 113 is the load index. The M is the speed rating. And it'll say right after that, 81 miles per hour. So this tire has an speed rating of M, which is 81 miles per hour. But that should do it for the review on this Taskmaster S T 2 25 75 D 15 bias trailer tire in a load range D mounted on this 15 inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern..

  • Comparing Speed Ratings of Kenda and Taskmaster Radial Trailer Tires
Unless we indicate a higher speed rating for a tire it will generally carry a nominal 65-mph speed rating. This is the case for the Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15-inch Modular White Wheel # AM32673. The Taskmaster # TA92FR does indeed offer a substantially higher M-speed rating of 81-mph. For interstate highway travel, with speed limits potentially above 65-mph, I do recommend the Taskmaster. Operating a trailer tire at or above its maximum speed for long continuous...

  • Recommended Trailer Tires and Wheels for Adventure Trailer
For your Adventure trailer, I recommend the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Tire with 15" White Spoke Wheel # AM32545 if you have the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This tire and wheel combination is rated for 2,540 lbs at 65 psi and speeds up to 81 mph. It also comes with the 2 year warranty that includes complementary roadside assistance. If you have the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, then I recommend # TA92FR which have the same ratings and warranty. These tires are radials and will wear better...

  • Trailer Rim and Tire Recommendation to Replace Size H78-15ST
For a modern tire size equivalent you would want the 225/75-15 to replace your H78-15ST. If you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you would want the part # AM3S862, or for a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern # TA92FR.
