Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The tire wheel package works great. I only use them if I need to use my small tilt trailer on a long distance trip from home. I leave the old tires and wheels on since it sits outside and swap the new ones on for those long away from home trips.

  • Recommended Air Pressure for Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire #TA98RR
The Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TA98RR features a maximum load of 990 pounds at 90 psi. Trailer tires like these should always be inflated to their maximum listed psi, regardless of your trailer weight or the weather outside, so you will want to always have these inflated to 90 psi. Inflating them to below this level will drop their load capacity to an unknown number and over-inflating them will cause uneven tread wear and may lead to failure.

  • What is the psi Rating for Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/12 White Spoke Wheel TA98RR
For Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # TA98RR inflate the tire to 90 psi. Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi rating indicated on the tire sidewall.

  • Recommendation to Upgrading 4.80 x 8 Trailer Tires to Larger Size for Highway Use
A 4.80-12 size trailer tire will have an overall diameter of right around 20-1/2 inches, compared to the overall 16-inch diameter on your existing 4.80 x 8 units. Based on the 19-inch maximum you mentioned in your question, it might not be possible to upgrade to this size on your Karavan trailer. You can take a couple quick measurements on your trailer just to be sure. Also note that the larger tire will have a 4.84-inch width, which is important in terms of clearance with the trailer frame....

  • Replacement Wheel and Tire Recommendation for 2004 Silver Fox 3 Rail Motorcycle Trailer
The best option we have for your tire size of 4.80-12 and wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern would be the Taskmaster wheel and tire part # TA98RR. This is a radial tire which is preferred over the other options, and it also has a speed rating of 81 mph whereas most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph. I attached a review video for this wheel and tire combo for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Replacement Tires for 20.5x8.0-10 Size Boat Trailer Tires
I recommend replacing your 20.5 x 8-10 size bias tires with the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # TA98RR. The wheel is a little bigger, but it has the same 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and the tire itself has a diameter of 20.5" which is the same as your current tire so you know it will fit properly. This tire/wheel combo is a load range C (990 lbs at 90 psi) and has a max speed rating of 81 mph. The best part of these products is that they come with a Platinum...

  • Does Pilot Hole Size Matter When Replacing 4.8-12 Size Tire and Wheel for Boat Trailer
The pilot hole diameter of a wheel is only important when dealing with hub centric wheels, which are more typically found on passenger vehicles. Standard trailer wheels are centered on the lugs, so as long as you match up the bolt pattern, the wheels will fit and operate correctly, regardless of the pilot hole size. To replace the 4.8-12 size tire, I recommend the Taskmaster 4.8R12 Radial Tire w/ White Spoke Wheel # TA98RR. This radial tire is mounted to a steel, corrosion resistant...

  • Comparing 4.80R12 vs ST175/80R13 for Boat Trailer
All things being equal it's almost always better to go with a larger trailer tire size when possible. You'll get a smoother ride quality on the trailer and since smaller wheels turn faster at the same speed as larger wheels you end up putting less stress on the hubs and wheels/tires as well. So I'd recommend the part # TA43RR which will work great. The only thing that might make a slight difference to push you towards the part # TA98RR instead would is that since this is a boat trailer...

It isn't as much about the size of the tire as it is just making sure they aren't overloaded and the max speed rating isn't exceeded. This combo has a load range C (1,045 lbs at 80 psi) and a 65 mph speed rating. The bigger tire (5.30-12) is about 1-1/2" larger in diameter and 1" wider than your current tires. • Trailer Tire and Wheel Replacement for Trailer with Size 4.80-12
You'll want the size 4.80-12 since that is what is listed on your tire sidewall. The other size mentioned basically is another way of stating the same size. For a wheel an tire in this size I recommend the Taskmaster Wheel and Tire # TA98RR which is a radial tire in this size with a higher speed rating of 81 mph on a steel wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern (which you most likely have). It has a great weight capacity of 990 lbs at 90 psi as well.

If you were looking for something with a higher speed rating, you'll need to increase the wheel diameter up to a 12 inch wheel. The Taskmaster 4.80R12 tire # TA98RR on a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern wheel is about 2-2/3 inches larger in diameter than the 5.70-8 inch tire you'd asked about. • Trailer Wheel and Tire Recommendation for Size 4.80-12 with Higher Speed Rating

So for your tire size of 4.8R12 I recommend the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # TA98RR.
