Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Recommendation to Upgrading 4.80 x 8 Trailer Tires to Larger Size for Highway Use
A 4.80-12 size trailer tire will have an overall diameter of right around 20-1/2 inches, compared to the overall 16-inch diameter on your existing 4.80 x 8 units. Based on the 19-inch maximum you mentioned in your question, it might not be possible to upgrade to this size on your Karavan trailer. You can take a couple quick measurements on your trailer just to be sure. Also note that the larger tire will have a 4.84-inch width, which is important in terms of clearance with the trailer frame....

  • Recommended Replacement Tires for 20.5x8.0-10 Size Boat Trailer Tires
I recommend replacing your 20.5 x 8-10 size bias tires with the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # TA98RR. The wheel is a little bigger, but it has the same 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and the tire itself has a diameter of 20.5" which is the same as your current tire so you know it will fit properly. This tire/wheel combo is a load range C (990 lbs at 90 psi) and has a max speed rating of 81 mph. The best part of these products is that they come with a Platinum...

  • Recommended Air Pressure for Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire #TA98RR
The Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TA98RR features a maximum load of 990 pounds at 90 psi. Trailer tires like these should always be inflated to their maximum listed psi, regardless of your trailer weight or the weather outside, so you will want to always have these inflated to 90 psi. Inflating them to below this level will drop their load capacity to an unknown number and over-inflating them will cause uneven tread wear and may lead to failure.

  • Is a 4.80 x 12 Wheel and Tire Combo Available?
We do carry wheel and tire combinations with 4.80 x 12 tires. For highway use I recommend going with radial tires and for that you have three options in terms of wheel style. Each of these tire and wheels have a load rating of C with a max capacity of 990 lbs at 90 psi, 12" diameter x 4" wide wheel dimensions and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern (please refer to the linked help article on determining bolt pattern if you are unsure of what you have). Each of our offerings are from Taskmaster...

  • Recommended Replacement Tires for 5.30-12 Tires with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern on 2016 Clipper Camper
I recommend using the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire to replace your current tires. This has a load range C (1,050 lbs at 80 psi) and a speed rating of 81 mph. It is the only radial tire that we currently have in this size and you want to use radial tires for standard road use as they have more flex in the sidewall than bias tires. This flex allows them to dissipate heat better so they run cooler. This tire is available with a white mod wheel (like what you have) as part # TA38RR,...

To get your high speed radial tires with wheel, we will need to move away from the galvanized wheel. • Availability of 4.80-12 Tires With a High Speed Rating
We do indeed offer wheel/tire combos that feature a 4.80-12 tire. If you were needing a wheel with a 4-on-4 bolt pattern, I'd recommend part # AM30620 which is a 4.80-12 bias-ply tire on a white spoked wheel with a 4-on-4 bolt pattern. If you needed a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, use # TA98RR which is a radial tire on a white spoked wheel. Both tires carry an 81 mph speed rating. I've linked you to our trailer tire help articles which I hope you'll find informative.

  • How to Get the Most Out of Your Trailer Tires
We have just what you are looking for. Although we do have load range D tires in the 5.30-12 size they are bias as opposed to radial in style. Bias tires are meant more for off-road purposes like agriculture whereas the radial tires have a sidewall with more flex that can better dissipate the heat build-up than bias can. I recommend going with the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C. It has a load range of C (Maximum load: 1,050 lbs at 80 psi), a max speed rating of 81 mph,...

  • Replacement Tire for Size F78-14 Size Tires
If you want to replace both the tires and wheels, then you can use a 4.80-12 size tire. It's quite a bit smaller than what you've got though. About 6 inches smaller in diameter. We have part # TA98RR for a 4.80-12 tire on a wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern which is likely what your trailer has. I've linked an article to help you determine your bolt pattern if you aren't sure. Tire size 205/75-14 is basically the same size you currently have. You can use part # TTWA14RSM if you...

The 4.80-12 on your current tire is the size of the tire, and if it says high speed, that likely means it is a radial tire. The 4.80-12 radial tire I recommend is the Taskmaster # TT48012C, which fits 12" x 4" rims and has a load range of C for a maximum capacity of 990 lbs at 90 psi. To get this tire already on a 12" x 4" wheel there is the Taskmaster # TA98RR, which is a white spoke wheel or the Taskmaster # TA38RR, which is a white mod wheel, or a Taskmaster # TA58RR which is a silver...

For your tandem axle trailer with 12 inch wheels, you will want to use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double Eye Springs - 3-3/4" Tall Front/Center/Rear # APT5. The spacing of the tires/axles will depend on the load capacity of your axles. With the 4.80-12 tires like # TA98RR, your axles could be rated for 2,000 lbs, 2,200 lbs, or 3,500 lbs.
