Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Thanks for the nice message! Have not had the trailer out much since the new tires, but I felt like there was a smoother ride and less jumping from the trailer with them on. I'll try to send an update from my next adventure!

Another year and 4,200 trailer miles later and I’m still loving my ride!

Had one last only 300 miles. Went through taskmaster warranty and did not get the same tire replacement. Did not have same tire.

No issues yet. Used in lightweight trailer usually pulled behind a motorcycle. Nice to find heavy trailer tires rated for 81mph.

Still working great, no issues.

by:

These tires and wheels made a huge difference in the trailer tracking. Rather than a constant vibration from the older bias ply tires that I couldn’t get balanced properly, I mounted your set and almost forgot I was pulling it. Very smooth and sporty looking. Highly recommend this setup.

by:

GREAT UPGRADE FROM WHAT CAME WITH THE TRAILER,THESE ARE HIGHWAY RATED UNLIKE
WHAT CAME WITH THE DK2 TRAILER AND BLEW OUT..OVERALL GREAT TIRE

by:

Purchased the Taskmaster radial to replace the four year old Carlisle bias ply. One of the old tires had a bulge. It seems they were rated to 60 MPH. In fairness I was pulling my boat above 70 most of the time. The Taskmaster is rated to 75 MPH. They are not quite as wide but I ordered the identical size as the old tires. It should be noted the service was amazing. I ordered on a Sunday night and they arrived on Wednesday. Free shipping in deluxe cardboard boxes. If the tire are as good as the service I'll be in great shape.

The tires are excellent. Very smooth compared to the factory installed tires. Most of the time you cannot detect a boat trailer behind the vehicle. Would buy only radials going forward.

by:

Received the tires I ordered in a matter of days. Well packaged in a sturdy box. Couldn’t be more pleased with the help from the techs at etrailer and the ease of the purchasing and delivery. Easier than driving all over town looking for the right tire and purchasing locally.

I’ve put over 6,000 miles on the trailer tires I mounted on my Escapade motorcycle trailer in the past year. Couldn’t be more pleased with the tires, even wear across the tires, maintains pressure. I pull the trailer at highway speeds, often at 75 to 80 mph.

by:

E-trailer is the best for selection and quality. I needed new tires for my utility trailer, and they had the best selection and prices, plus their description aids in determining what is best for your use.

After a year, I couldnt be happier. Great price and great product.

If you drive on the interstate you need these.

by:

I bought the highest cost highest speed rated tires for my light 4x8 utility trailer. Folks drive fast in Michigan, our 4 seasons are short, so we need to move quickly. These tires have had the grip I needed and I would buy them again.

by:

These have been the best tires I have purchased for my small light weight pop up camper. Tire Discounters sold me pair before these that were not radial that blew in their only second year use. I haven’t had an issue and see little wear.

by:

I replaced my standard boat trailer bias tires after driving from Ontario to Florida with these radial steel belted beauties. They have a highway rating of 81 MPH which blow the bias tires out of the water. I don't have a low speed bounce anymore and less damage to the interior storage areas of the boat. Great change.

by:

I put 2600 miles at 70+ mph with no issues. Performing as advertised.

Phil

The tires are holding up well. No issues. Over 8000 miles on the interstate.

I ordered the tires to upgrade my utility trailer to be able to haul my harley Ultra classic (900 pounds) at hwy speeds if I ever have to. The order was delivered a day before it was supposed to be and it was in a very well protected shipping box. The service was outstanding.

by:

Tires appear in good condition but haven’t had opportunity to install them yet due to problems with grease seal used in hub assembly kits that were purchased from etrailer

by:

A friend turned me onto etrailer and have used them ever since. Great products and great service including fast shipping with tracking number, what more could you ask for !

by:

These are exactly what I needed! Gwen have info that helped me make the right choice! And I’ve ordered ceiling lights for my popup before from etrailer.com and am very happy with their product and customer service.

by:

This was the only retailer that sold radial tires in the size for my boat trailer. I'm hoping they perform as advertised.

by:

Haven't had much chance to use yet, but I like the thought of travelling on radials vs. bias ply tires...especially in these smaller diameters.

by:

Great product and exceptional service to go along with the purchase! I purchased this tire because it was a radial and it has the extended speed rating. No problems at all pulling my pop up camper at 70+MPH.

The purchase and customer support and communication with this sale was five-star!!

by:

Great tires for my boat trailer. Put almost 4000 miles on this summer and have been very pleased with them

by:

Got the tires mounted, put them on my vintage 1992 coleman camper. These tires are worth the money.

by:

Nice to have radial tires with higher speed rating in such a small size.

by:

  • Can I Order a 12 Aluminum Wheel and Have It Mounted To a Tire Speed Rated For 81MPH?
You will have to mount the wheel and tire yourself or have it done at a tire shop as the wheel and tire combos we have come from the manufacturer. We have no way of mounting the tires in our facility. I have created a list of all our 12" aluminum wheels and tires with the 81mph speed rating you are looking for. Hey Andy, thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you might have a 4.80-12 tire like the Kenda # AM30620, so to upgrade you can use a 5.30-12 tire, like the Taskmaster Radial Tire # TT53012C which is going to have about a 21-1/2" diameter and about a 5-1/2" section width. These install on the same wheel so you'll be able to have a tire shop swap them out for you. If these tire sizes don't match what you have, please let me know what the big lettering on the sidewall of your current tires...

The Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire part # TT53012C is our best radial trailer tire option in this size. The radial plies will keep the tire cooler on the highway which reduces the chance for blowouts. It also has a higher speed rating than the equivalent bias ply so you can travel at speeds up to 81 mph without issue. The 1,050 lb weight rating will exceed the current setup as well so there will be no issues there either. Please note, we don't have any good combo packages for...

As you keep experiencing tires blowing out you will want to have your axle alignment and hubs inspected.
