Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we have the BulletProof Hitches Extreme Coupler Lock. This is gonna be a lock that fits into your coupler, and we have this one seven eighth inch ball. We're gonna talk about how this works, as well as what types of couplers this works with. When securing your trailer, there's different options. Some people like to lock up the trailer tires, some people like to use coupler pins and locks to prevent latching. I personally enjoy the style of locks, just because they provide that all-around protection.
Even though someone may try to grab your trailer by pulling up to the ball mounts, getting that secured, and driving away even without latching, you can't secure something if there's already a placeholder, and that's how this Coupler Lock works. You get that ball, fit that into the coupler, grab this large U-bolt. And secure on and over, it's a very quick and easy process. And then even though our trailer tongue or coupler doesn't have a flange, this isn't coming off. Now, to get access to your Coupler Lock, you have this lock cord, and you do get two keys.
So BulletProof calls these the pick-proof lock course, and that's mainly because of how we have this tapered in, to help prevent picks from fitting in through there. Now if you do happen to lose a key, fortunately you do have that spare. But another thing you may want to do is just cover that lock core with this dust cap if you have your trailer sitting out. That will prevent dirt and grime from fitting in there. The coupler style we have here is a Demco coupler, there's no flange, and this does fit a two five 16ths ball.
Now, even if we have an inch and seven eighth inch ball, this fits perfectly fine. Let's take a look at some other couplers that this will fit around. Now this trailer, the coupler has this flange or this lip around it. Now even with that, we're still able to fit our U-bolt around. So a measurement you're gonna have to be mindful, is our inside diameter, that's gonna be 4.5 inches.
So measure your flange, if it goes past 4.5, it won't fit. If it's within it, you will still be able to secure your trailer. Even though this is an Extreme Duty Coupler Lock, even for your smaller trailers it will still work. So, here we have our small kayak trailer, and the main thing I was curious about was how low will this U-bolt go and still stay latched So let's take some measurements real quick. For our minimum height, we are going to measure from the top of the coupler ball, to the bottom of this U-bolt, and that will help you figure out if this will have enough clearance. So, measuring there. This can go as short as three eighths of an inch, and still stay latched. Now for our maximum height, which is if you have your larger couplers, this is gonna be 4.5 inches for your first notch, again measured from the top of the ball, to the bottom of that U-bolt. The U-bolt itself is going to be an inch thick, and all of this is made extremely heavy duty to prevent cutting. This is going to be made of a hardened steel. And then you also have this steel base, but you do have a black powder coat finish. What I have noticed with using this with different couplers is that usually, rust develops inside the coupler, and as you use this lock, you may scratch up that finish and transfer a little bit of that rust. So that is something to be mindful of. I'm not concerned about this rusting through. But as cool and sleek as it looks right now, if you do have it out in the elements and you're using this with a bunch of different trailers, you may notice a little bit of wear and tear. Nothing that would affect its functionality, just its looks. So when it comes to locks in securing your trailer, the main thing is that my philosophy is that it is more of a theft deterrent than anything, and this is gonna be great, because it's large, it's bulky, it's very easy to use and very easy to secure. So compared to your smaller pin locks or even your wheel locks, this is gonna be a larger theft deterrent, just because with how heavy duty that steel is, as well as the largest of the base, it's gonna be a larger hassle for people to break into if they do want your trailer. Now, no lock is completely theft proof, but this is going to get as close as you can to security. Now this Coupler Lock will work with most of your trailers, whether it's an inch and seven eighths inch ball, two inch, two and five sixteenths. We saw how it was able to fit those different flanges and style couplers, but we also gave them measurements so that you can figure out if this will work with yours. Right here, right now, this is a look at the BulletProof Hitches Extreme Duty Coupler Lock. And you saw it at etrailer.com. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoy the journey.
