Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Curt universal trailer coupler lock for the 1 7/8 inch, the 2 inch, and even the 2 5/16 inch ball couplers. Now this is designed to lock down your trailer coupler, prevents tow away theft. Basically, when this is installed, it'll prevent the trailer ball from being inserted into another coupler, so it keeps others from hooking up to your trailer. And if you notice, the base on this is a nice bright orange color, which makes it a high-visibility theft deterrent. It is a ratcheting U-lock, prevents movement or removal of the lock base, and it is a hardened steel construction with a nice chrome plated U-lock.

And as we mentioned, the orange powder coat finish on it is corrosion resistant. Now it does include the two keys and it is a very easy, quick installation and removal. And I do want to show you how this operates. And I do happen to have pulled a two inch trailer coupler. It's a standard latch-type trailer coupler.

So you'll see what we'll do is go ahead and take the key, we'll insert it into there. It's spring-loaded, so when you turn it, it'll open it and then spring load back. So just turn it to open it, remove the U-lock, and then just like that, you can leave the key in there. Actually you can take the key out and then what you can do is insert it onto the ball. Again, this is a two inch ball coupler.

So open the coupler, put it on there, latch it, and just like that, it's latched on there. And then all you'll have to do is take this portion, push it down. You don't even need the key in there to lock it, it's already locked into place. And you can see even if the latch is unlocked, nobody can get into it. It stays on there.

And then when you're ready to hook up, take your key, insert it in there, twist it, spring loaded, it pops right out, unhook it, remove your coupler, and you're all ready to go. And then again, you can just put your lock back in there and it's back to normal. It's very easy, quick installation and removal. Specs again, this will fit most 1 7/8 inch, 2 inch, and 2 5/16 ball couplers. And the last thing I'm gonna do is just give you the maximum coupler width that this will fit on. So what I'm gonna do is unlock it just to lower it some, and then we'll measure the inside of the U-bolt. That'll give you an idea, you can see, of the maximum coupler width that'll fit in there, just under four inches, about 3 7/8 inches. Again, with your key out, you just push it down, whatever position, lock it into place.
