Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 63228. This is the Tow Ready Gorilla Guard Trailer Coupler Lock for 2-inch couplers. This is designed to fit most 2-inch couplers. It's going to feature an easy, single action key that's going to be this portion here. All you have to do is place that in, push it a little bit and then give it a turn. That's going to disengage the pin, allowing this portion here to fit around the socket of the coupler.
This needs to go around the lip that surrounds the base of the socket. Once you get that on there, you don't even have to have the key installed in order to lock it back in place. All you have to do is push this up. This is going to go around the inside lip of that socket where your hitch ball goes. In between this portion here is going to be the down portion of the front of the socket. Again, that's where your hitch balls are going to go.
That's going to prevent this from being able to back off of the coupler. This is designed to protect unattended trailers. It's going to come with 2 keys that use a pick-resistant design. Down here you can see the support system. This design shields the lock from tampering devices.
It's going to be made from a steel construction with a nice protective finish to stand up well against rust and corrosion. The lock an the pin assembly are steel as well and appear to have a nice zinc coating on them. Again, this is designed to fit most 2-inch couplers. A few measurements to go over real quick with you to see if this is going to fit your coupler. The coupler width, including the lip, must not exceed the inside measurement here, which is going to be 3-13/16 of an inch. It also cannot exceed the height that this portion gives us right here of the lip, which is going to be 5/16 of an inch.
Now replacement keys are available. You can find those right here at etrailer.com. I'm going to go ahead and show you how this would install. I have a 2-inch coupler here today. The measurements fit within the measurements that I listed. All we have to do is place this around the lip, push up on the pin. Even though the swivel's a little bit around that socket portion, around the lip, it's still engaged with that pin here on the underside. It's going to prevent the lock from being able to come off and it's going to prevent anybody from being able to hook up to our trailer. That's going to do it for our review of part number 63228. I have purchased two of these hitch locks via etrailer. Both were delivered safely and quickly. I bought the second for a friend since I find mine so valuable.
I purchased my trailer used, but in excellentshape and the seller had the Gorilla Guard Trailer Coupler lock on the unit. He would not let the lock go with the trailer and spoke so highly of it, I purchased my own. I could not be more pleased with the product or etrailer.com. Very impressive hitch lock. I put it on my log splitter and I feel like it is safe now. I had one stollen, but I don’t think they will get this one.
The coupler lock works as advertised and the etrailer measurements were perfect. The tie down brackets were also easy to install and work well for holding down my ATV and UTV. The spare tire carrier, wheel and cover all came from etrailer. They fit perfectly.
Feels solid. The lock is beefy. It does not feel cheap. It fit my haulmark 6x10 perfectly.

Great lock
Ordered this item for my brother. He said it is the absolute best lock available. The price is right also.
Trailer hitch lock still working great 1 year later. An advantage of this cylinder lock system is that once you take it off the hitch, you can take the key out and when ready to lock your hitch again, just slide it on and push the lock up into the ball receptacle - job done.
The Gorilla (trailer hitch) Guard works better then any other guard I've used...

Excellent protection...easy on and easy off...key works great.

I have 4 of these locks on my trailers for the last 20 plus years and have never had any issues whatsoever. Best lock for A frame type couplers.
Great transaction , great product , purchased trailer tongue lock that comes with two keys for $29.95.(FAIR PRICE) . I could not order product with additional keys, I had to wait for the lock and then order additional keys. TWO ADDITIONAL KEYS COST MORE THAN THE LOCK , $37.84 for two keys. Just doesn't seem right!!!
Have been looking for a drop hitch and vehicle/trailer flucuate between 3 1/4" to 4 1/2" drop depending upon load(s). Researched many and BW seemed to be best/recommended choice. Haven't used yet, but very solid construction.

I now have one on my trailer and pull behind smokergrill as well as my log splitter. So the locks have worked well. Great product.
