my 7 yr old wench the strap broke an i like to replace when in dought so i by new, I spread corrosion on it to slow rust down

by:

When I installed the winch I did have to drill new holes, but that was no problem. There was a problem with the winch. The pinion gear that drives the large gear on the real did not line up properly. It worked fine, but I was afraid over time winching my Four Winns 225 Sundowner boat it might wear the gear prematurely. I contacted etrailer.com and sent some pictures. They had a new winch in the mail the same day, and sent me a shipping label to send the old winch back. The people at etrailer.com are great. And the new winch is great. The neutral position allows the strap to be pulled out easily. It is easy to shift between high and low gear for fast and easy cranking my 5,000 lb. boat onto the trailer.

by:

Missing handle. I called etrailer was told that I would here something by the end of the week, Im sorry not good enough. Then was told they would put urgent on it. Not sure what that means. End of the week and thought I would have gotten an e mail or something. Never good when they have your money and you don't have what you paid for.

Winch worked great pulled up my 87 Formula 242 up on the trailer with no problem. Big improvement over my old cable unit

Still working great!

by:

Absolutely impressed. It looks and feels Bullet Proof. Glad all I had to do is pull it out of box and used bolts to fit like a glove. She’s on galvanized trailer with a 17 old Aquasport with a 115 on the tail. I wanted some beef in case of emergency. Certainly looks and feels good. Will do the complete test this weekend. Liked the correspondence and update on delivery. I paid a couple dollars going direct but well worth it.

by:

Easy replacement for the original winch, even though this one is much larger. Bolt holes lined up with the original and went right on. This is very smooth, with easy changes between the 2 speeds. Great to not have to move the handle to a different shaft to change speeds. Only negative was that it came with absolutely no instructions (not that installation was tough, but still) or mounting bolts. Would have preferred a 32’ strap since it went on a 30’ trailer, but hopefully this will work well.

by:

I use this winch on a hay bale unroller to feed 1 to 3 bales a day all winter. Everything on this winch is built well, the neutral position makes pulling strap out easy and safer than having a spinning handle. The handle is also longer than some other winches which is great. This same unroller ate two winches of lesser quality in less than a year, this one is still going without complaint.

by:

This product is very high quality material and craftsmanship. I just mounted on my boat trailer today, so I can't say anything about how it will work yet, but I am sure I will be very happy with it. It is by far heavier duty and higher quality that what I am replacing. I did my share of research before landing on this model and it is everything it's advertised to be. Packaged well for shipment, and shipping was quick. Emailed questions to customer service were answered immediately, clearly, and with great details. Thank You etrailer!

by:

The winch is dragging a 7000 pound boat up the trailer, I power load it on but it always needs to be cranked up further and it gets it done.

by:

I used it for the first time this year after installing it and it worked perfectly. Easy to install and use. I have a 24 ft Grady White Offshore boat with a 2016 Yamaha 250 4 stroke and it handles it with no issue.

by:

I outfit all my trailers with these. Great product. Winches my fiberglass over wood center consoles with no problem.

by:

Extremely strong and reliable Winch sys tem!!

by:

Excellent product and quick delivery

by:

Winch arrived and is even more heavy duty than I was expecting. Very high quality!

by:

Just got my package have not had time to install but so far every thing has been 5 star.

by:

I ordered this two speed Fulton winch because I keep my 18' center console on a trailer and launch and recover it about 60 to 70 times each fishing season and I have a bad shoulder and was tired of fighting the one speed direct drive winch to get the boat up the last couple of feet. This two speed winch makes everything much easier--cranking in the last two feet is very easy now, and the feature that allows you to free spool the strap out without the handle spinning around is awesome. I wish I had bought this winch two years ago, when I bought the boat.

Comments
One year later and the winch is working very well. I have used it hauling out about 70 times now and the two-speed feature makes things easy. Im glad I bought it and recommend it.

by:

The Fulton,F142424, is a tremendous asset for a boat trailer. It’s almost effortless winching my boat back on the trailer now with the two speed winch option. Wish I had bought this winch years ago. I launch and recover my boat on some pretty shallow public ramps sometimes and you have too winch the boat on rather than drive it on. This winch makes that process a whole lot easier.

by:

you turn the handle and it works.

by:

Perfect fit for my boat trailer, easy install, came on exact target delivery day. Prior winch: wire rope was starting to splinter, handle had a lot of free play, along with an assortment of other small issues. Thanks again etrailer!

by:

I use this winch for turning logs on my saw mill and it is wonderful. I like that it has two speeds so depending on the weight of the log I am turning I can pick the speed. Very pleased with this product.

by:

Melissa at etrailer did a great job helping me select this heavy duty winch for my hay trailer. The mounting plate was the same for the light duty old winch so it was easy to install this morning and then I distributed three 1,100 pound round bales of haygrazer to our cattle. I am very happy with my new winch and I am thankful I called etrailer.

by:

The winchbis of great quality, good price and hot to me quick. Thanks etrailer, I will definately use again for trailering parts needs in the future.

by:

Very easy to install and it seems like a well built winch. I have a 24 foot tritoon and it pulls it up really well.

by:

Shipping was fast and no damage to the winch. Attached it to my trailer but have not yet used it for pulling out my boat. Seems easy to use. Can’t wait to try it out.

by:

Great service and great products.

  • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for a Boat Trailer with a 6,500 Lb Boat
It is always a good idea to use a winch that is overrated for the purpose you will be using it for. A winch that is used near the bottom end of its capacity will last much longer then a winch used at the top end of its capacity. We do have wire rope options for a hand winch on your boat trailer but I recommend using a winch with a synthetic strap as this will last longer for marine applications in addition to causing less damage if the strap were to break. For your 6,500 lb boat, I recommend...

  • Recommended Winch To Replace Damaged 2500lb JIF Marine Winch On Boat Trailer
I have a solution for you, but at this time we do not offer any hand winches that use a 2-1/2" wide strap. Instead I recommend going with the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle - 20' Strap - Zinc - 3,200 lbs # F142424 as replacements parts are readily available, and it includes a new 20' x 2" strap. The # F142424 has a 3200lb weight capacity which will allow you to pull up your boat a little easier, and also has a high and low speed to give you additional mechanical advantage...

  • Mounting Hardware for Fulton F142424 Trailer Winch
The Fulton # F142424 3.2K Capacity Trailer Winch doesn't include mounting hardware. Fulton recommends using (3) 3/8 inch grade 5 bolts/nuts, the length of the hardware will depend on the thickness of the winch stand/mounting plate the winch is being attached to. The hardware should be torqued to 28-30 foot/lbs. I've linked to a product description video that you might find helpful.

The Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # F142424 would be a great option for an all inclusive manual crank hand winch. • Recommended Two Speed Trailer Winch For 6500lb Boat.
For your 6500lb boat I highly recommend the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142424 which has 2 speeds like you were looking for, and the 3200lb capacity will be plenty to pull your boat onto the trailer. In addition the polyester strap will hold up better than a cable for a marine application, not to mention the additional safety that should the strap snap, it would not be nearly as dangerous as a cable flying around. I included a video of the Fulton # F142424 for you to take a look at.

  • Winch Recommendation for Boat Trailer with 6,000 lb Boat
Generally when picking out a winch for a boat trailer the ratio is 2 to 1 meaning you would need a winch with roughly half the capacity as the weight of the boat. With good rollers and a short winching distance the ratio increases to 3 to 1, but with long winching distances and wooden bunks like what you currently have the ratio is 1 to 1. The Fulton Boat Winch part # F142424 would work well for you. It has a 3,200 lb capacity and would make easy work of your 6,000 boat. I attached a review...

  • Recommended Hand Winch for 4,600 Lb Boat Trailer
There are numerous factors in play for selecting a boat trailer winch, one of which is whether or not the trailer has rollers but the number of layers out on the strap and the angle of the boat while retrieved also matter. Without getting too technical, a 2:1 ratio is sufficient so the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # F142424 is what I recommend and it will give you room to spare as well.

  • Determining Best Replacement Winch for Bryant Ski Boat
We do have a large selection of hand winches available. The winch that will work best for your Bryant Ski Boat will depend on a few different factors. Generally speaking, a boat-size-to-winch capacity is around 2 to 1, meaning a 3,000 pound capacity winch should be able to handle a 6,000 pound boat. If your boat trailer is equipped with good rollers and you have a short winching distance, this ratio can be increased to 3 to 1. If your trailer has wooden bunks and you have a longer winching...
