Nice winch, but you’ll need to get your own mounting hardware. 3 - 3/8” grade 5 or 8 bolts, nuts and washers.

The winch is still in use, though the spool has corroded significantly where it makes contact with the side of the strap.

I received the Fulton XLT-two speed trailer winch today, I put it on and what a difference it made, I have a 2024 Express H20.The winch that came with it did not do well at all, I am so glad I seen this winch on line, what a big big difference, Gary

by:

This is the real deal trailer winch. Worth every penny! Strong, easy to use, and safe. I definitely recommend this if you are looking to replace your current winch.

by:

Great service and products as always with Etrailer

by:

I ordered a lot of parts from you at etrailer, and am very pleased with everything that I ordered. I sent you some before and after pictures of the boat trailer I have been working on. Thanks for the FAST service and excellent parts.

by:

The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch makes taking the boat in and out of the water so much easier. The original winch on the trailer was a 1500 lb winch and just did not do the job. The Fulton winch is so much better that my 13 year old grandson can load the boat on the trailer. My neighbor was so impressed with the Fulton winch that he bought one for his boat trailer and is extremely happy with it. If you need a winch, go with the Fulton, you won't regret it.

The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch is still doing its job after 1 year of use. Highly recommend it.

by:

Pulls out my heavy boat with ease. Highly recommend!

by:

Very fast service! Thank you all.

by:

The only place I order trailer, boat and RV parts is from etrailer great service

by:

This was the best winch choice for the buck to be sure. My trailers bolt pattern didn't line up. No prob with drilling a new hole. So far it's working as designed and looks great to!

by:

Would have given it a 5 but no 1/2 inch 13 thread nut to attach the handle was provided. I get that no mounting hardware was provided since that can vary by trailer size, but to ship the unit with a loose handle and no nut is stupid. I was able to reuse my mounting hardware from my old winch, but had to make a special trip to the hardware store to buy a 65 cents nut.

This product is outstanding and easy to use. It cranks beautifully and looks amazing!

by:

Excellent winch. I am almost seventy years old and often fish alone. Launching boat was no big deal. Loading it back on the trailer , especially in mid summer when in the south the lakes get a little low on water, winching it back on the trailer was a chore.I put this winch on to see if it made it easier to winch boat onto trailer. I did have to make an adapter plate from steel to mount it, but no big deal. Works great. I can actually winch it up with one hand. Would highly recommend this. Should have done this when I was sixty.

by:

Installed quickly and looks like it work very well.

by:

Biggest pain in the ass to operate and killed my shoulder every time I cranked the boat up. Already replaced it!!

by:

Received the Winch in a box with just some clear wrap to protect it.
cover was damaged and box was destroyed.
No packing in box to protect the winch.
Very poor shipping on your part.

by:

A larger unit than I have had in the past....EXCELLENT.... but some heavier. Nice finish !

by:

Pretty straightforward. It’s a winch. It works very well, and pulls my rather heavy boat onto the trailer without too much huffing and puffing on my part. The gear release ( freespool) is simple and actually works.

by:

Prompt shipping and delivery. Excellent quality boat winch... should last a lot of years! Instructions for installation from Fulton the the XLT 2 speed winch could be better...need to address removal (which is not difficult once you study it a minute or two) of plastic "cover" to allow access of racket/wrench. Very pleased

by:

Very good replacement for the OEM unit that was on our trailer when we bought it. The two-speed option allows our Tri-toon to be moved easily after the boat is out of the water.
I would recommend this winch for anyone who has difficulty winching a boat with any single speed unit.

by:

Just received it. I was told is came with all mounting hardware when I first called trying to find a 3200 lb that uses a strap. Received it and no hardware and no instructions with regard to trying to work around the outside case. Very difficult to get large fingers in to get bolts in and or hold on to start the nuts. Did however get it installed. Have not had a chance to use it at the water but appears it will work out.

by:

No hardware included
An adjustable handle
would be nice
Otherwise good solid winch

by:

The winch fit perfectly on my boat trailer and it easily pull my 4500lb boat onto the trailer. After one year of use it is still performing flawlessly.

by:

would have been 5 stars but due to lack of filler in the box the winch rolled around and broke off a piece of the removable cover. great upgrade for my 24 foot tritoon

by:

Easy to use and install. E-trailer support was fantastic. Needed to check bolt pattern before ordering. Product has protective plastic case on it. Makes is more cosmetically appealing.

  • Determining The Correct Capacity Winch For A 10,000lb Boat
There are two schools of thought when it comes to determining the correct sized winch for a boat. The first being that the winch should be able to handle 3/4th of the total combined weight of the boat along with the motor, fuel and gear. The second being a 2:1 ratio (winch is capable of handling 1/2 of the weight). There are other factors that can limit or improve a winch's ability to pull the boat onto the the trailer, such as whether your trailer has good rollers or wooden bunks and...

The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # F142425 as the title states has two speeds; a high speed which lets you retrieve your load much faster but it will be more strenuous and a low speed which makes it slower to retrieve your load but it will be much easier physically speaking. The low speed will be considerably easier to use than a standard single speed hand crank winch so as long as you are okay with the slower retrieval, you'll surely appreciate the mechanical advantage. • Recommended Winch for 4,500 lb - 5,000 lb Boat Being Winched a Short Distance
Thanks for all that info, and in regards to capacity, a couple of things come into play, including the bunks and the distance you are winching. So while wooden bunks hinder the winch capacity, the fact you are only going a few feet is certainly a bonus so it is safe to assume the boat-size-to-winch capacity for your situation is in the neighborhood of 2-to-1, meaning for a boat that is in the 4,500 lb to 5,000 lb range you will need at least a 2,500 lb or so capacity winch. • Is Fulton XLT 2-Speed 3200-lb-Rated Trailer Winch # F142425 Suitable for Boat Weighing 6000-lbs
Yamaha's 150-horsepower outboard engines F150LA and F150XA both have a dry weight just under 500-lbs, so a pair of these on your 4800-lb Scout Abaco will bring your total boat weight up to about 6000-lbs by the time you add fuel tanks, oil, etc. Winch capacities vary depending on the nature of how they will be used. • Recommended Winch for Loading a 2,300-lb Boat
The weight capacity of your winch really varies depending on what your boat trailer setup is like. If you have rollers then you can use a hand winch that is actually designed to pull less weight because the rollers provide no resistance. For a boat trailer that has long wooden bunks you would need a winch rated for at least the weight or your boat because of the extra resistance. With that being said, one of our most popular winches, which has also received great reviews, is the Fulton...

The Boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1. With good rollers and short winching distances, increase the ratio to 3 to 1. And with wooden bunks and long winching distances, reduce the ratio to 1 to 1. For example, a 2,200-lb boat generally requires a 1,100-lb winch. If the same boat were winched a short distance with a low incline and with rollers in good condition, it can be safely winched with a 900-lb winch.
