I have a utility trailer that I use for everything. I was fixing the junky wiring for this clean setup. I've added a power inverter and a winch with an additional rv battery so this was perfect.

Great no issues. My brakes and lights are working with no problems havent had to replace any fuses or lights since installing it.
Burke - 04/27/2022

I haven't installed the parts yet but the bargman connector looks better made than the one that came on my newer trailer. The junction box 38656 is going to work great on my older trailer, making it easier to rewire it with a bargman connector 50-67-008.

Great product. Arrived fast

5 stars for the quality of this product, The electrical is well wrapped and the plastic is a good quality. I have yet to install the wiring harness in my 2000 17ft Casita Spirit Deluxe. Whoever owned the trailer before nearly caused it to burn down with all the splicing of the original wires into the 2 converter boxes with 8 electrical outlets in this tiny trailer. They dragged the original harness on 2 separate occasions. I looked all over for a longer one, e-trailer had it at a reasonable price. I feel confident that I will have good results.
Thank you!

This is a great product. Very good quality & now after a year of use on my livestock trailer its still like new. One thing I really liked was that it has a sealed head so the usual problems with corrosion are eliminated.

Very nicely built cable. BUT-- Be aware of color coding on connections. When used with Junction Box 38656, the colors do not match at all. This made for a few hours of unnecessary troubleshooting.

Just what I needed!

This was exactly what I was looking for. I am re-wiring my landscape trailer from the flat 4 prong plug to this round 7 prong. Now I have no need for a adapter. And with this long set up I will have one less splice. I have been searching for a item like this one. But all the places I went nobody sold them: Rural King, TSC, Napa, or even a Triple Crown dealer. Thank you Etrailer for-such a wide selection of products to amazing price.

Exactly as ordered. Timely delivery. Well priced.

Nicely made, good quality material. Extra long cable was exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent product and unbelievable support in getting it hooked up correctly. Always satisfied with my purchases!

Perfect length, great quality super fast shipping

Great job - cable arrived a day earlier than expected!

Looks good , haven't installed yet.

  • Instructions to Wire a Trailer for Electric Brakes
It sounds like you are speaking of the wires for the brake magnets. If this is correct, you will need to connect one of the wires to the brake controller output wire on your trailer connector and the other wire will need to be grounded to a clean metal surface on the trailer. I have included a diagram for you.

  • How to Determine Trailer Wiring Functions on a Travel Trailer for 7-Way Replacement
Trailer wiring color codes can vary greatly so I have a solution for you, but I can't tell you which color wire goes where on your trailer for wiring up a new 7-way. However, you may look around the wiring junction box or pin box of your trailer. There may be a diagram there. Instead you will want to use a jumper wire from a 12 volt source like a vehicle battery to apply voltage to all of the wires of your trailer wiring to see what activates. It can help to use masking tape to label them...

  • When Installing a 7-Way on a Trailer is a Junction Box Required
You don't have to install a junction box when you install the # 50-67-008 on your trailer. If you wanted you could just run the wires to each function as needed. The black wire of this connector would be the one to use for the charge wire of your battery. Using a junction box like the part # 38656 would make installing the wiring easier though. I attached an install video for it for you to check out.

  • Horse Trailer Electric Brakes Lock Up When Backing Up the Trailer
There could be a short in the truck or trailer side connector that occurs when the vehicle is put in reverse. The center pin is typically the reverse light circuit. You will want to make sure that the truck and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. Inspect the power wires to the magnets and look for pinched, frayed, or damaged wires and fix as needed. Make sure the ground wires are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.

  • How Much Slack Is Needed In Trailer Wire Connection To The Tow Vehicle?
The length of wire desired depends on your vehicle connection and your personal preference. You want enough slack for turning, but not so much for dragging as you mentioned. A little extra slack isn't a problem and not enough could lead to stress and wire connection problems. In general, you will want between 16 inches and 24 inches of wire beyond the tongue depending on where your connection point is on your tow vehicle.

  • Wire Color and Functions of Bargman 7-Pole, RV-Style Connector # 50-67-008
The key here is that the functions are in the correct locations. Wire color is going to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer which is why you should always wire by function and use a circuit tester like # 3808 when wiring in a connector like # 50-67-008. The reason we list the wire color and functions on the product page is because there is no official industry standard for wire color. If you tried to wire by matching colors, there is a very good chance that it will be wired incorrectly....

Normally to remove a light lens there would be screws to remove to remove the lens. If you do not see screws then the lens may be a snap on. To remove a snap on lens you could use a flat head screw driver to pry the the lens off carefully. It does sound like you need heavier gauge wire for the brake output circuit on your trailer to activate them properly. For that many axles and that length of trailer 10 gauge for the circuit just isn't going to cut it. I'd go with 8 gauge wire like Dexter recommends.

The problem with the running lights not working could be several things. Using a circuit tester like # 40376, test the running light circuit which should be the pin in the 11 oclock position if looking at the face of the plug. First thing I would do is test the 7-way at the rear of your 2009 Ford F150 for proper function with a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993. This will determine if the problem is on the truck or the trailer. Check out the video I attached to see how this is done. If the voltage isn't where its supposed to be on your truck connector then most likely there are some trailer wiring fuses or relays that might be blown on your truck. You will want to inspect them and replace as necessary. If...
