Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Wiring - Wiring Adapters - 18045 Review

Today, we're going to be reviewing part number 18045. This is the 60 inch car and trailer end 4-pole flat loop. This loop is going to plug in to your existing 4-way flat connector and that's going to extend it by 60 inches. That way, you can make whatever connection you need to make when using the extender. It's going to include four wire taps in case you need to hard wire into your connection. All you got to do is cut the wire as needed and then install the wire taps. You can see on this end, we're going to have the female end.

Simple, 4-way flat connector. On the other end, it's going to be a male connector. When it comes to the wiring configuration of this unit, pretty typical with 4-way flat connectors. Your brown wire is going to be for your tail lights. Your yellow wire is going to be for your left turn and brake. Your green wire is going to be for your right turn and brake.

Your white wire is going to be for your ground connection. That's going to do it for today's review of part number 18045. This is the 60 inch car and trailer end 4-pole flat loop. inaudible 00:01:00.

60" Car and Trailer End Loop 4-Pole - 18045

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (26 Customer Reviews)

Exactly what I wanted. Did the job I was after.

It works out perfect. I have a Toyota Tundra and the 7way is further away than it was on my Tacoma. I move this between three trailers.

Can't say this was earth-shattering, mind-boggling or game-changing. It's a plug, but a decent one. I used it to save the connections on my 4-to-3 wire converter. I don't like the tap connections, because they really don't make good connections and can damage those thin wires on the car; so I solder and tape connections instead.

Great! No drama or deterioration
JimVanDamme - 01/24/2018

During the original installation had to plug together a 2' and a 4' section that came with the wiring kit. Worked okay, but the extra plug was another spot for corrosion. This was a great replacement and the perfect length for my setup. I have a brake on indicator wire that I taped to this bundle and wrapped it with 1/2 inch wire loom. Works great and is easy to install. Add some dielectric grease to the contacts to keep the connection clean.

I have cut this in two pieces and used
half on truck, and one half on trailer
for wiring from scratch.
I've also used as as extension between
truck and trailer. Works great either way
you use it.

Just what I needed to reach the plug on the front of my tow car. The cord that came with my Demco adapter plate was too short to reach the motorhome to plug the lights of the car into. This fit the bill!

I ordered 60" Car and Trailer End Loop 4-Pole in the event I needed extended length for my EZ Tow Light Kit, however, I didn't need it but, I may be able to use it in future when changing vehicles. Processing and shipping was fast as usual from etrailer.

Perfect length

The item was exactly what I needed to extend the wiring line to my tow vehicle.

The cables & plugs are heavy duty.

Product arrived in great shape and was delivered quickly. These guys (and gals) are over the top in their game. I will definitely use this company again.

yes it is good ,just had to switch a couple of wires to fit my truck.

Items delivered were as described. Quick delivery
Will not hesitate to order from them again

works very well for what I need

Website is excellent. Easy to find what you are looking for.

Good product

Prefect fit

Exactly what I needed.

  • Trailer Right Turn Signal Not Working on Multiple Trailers Towed be the Same Truck
It sounds like there is a tow package fuse or relay that has blown. Use the vehicle owners manual to find all of the fuse/relay locations related to the tow package wiring to check them. Checking fuses is easy enough but for a relay the only way to really check for a bad one is to use a known good one in place of a potential bad one.

  • Trailer Turn Signals Blink Opposite of What they are Supposed To
It sounds like there are either some crossed wires or a bad ground (weird things can happen when there is a ground problem). On a trailer side 4-Way the covered pin is the ground. Next to it is the running lights. The third pin is left turn signal and brake lights, and the last pin is right turn signal and brake lights. It is possible that either on the trailer or vehicle the last 2 functions are swapped. Also make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Where Blinkers are Wired Backwards
Sounds like the trailer wiring is backwards. To fix your blinker problem you need to just switch the left and right turn signal wires of the trailer wiring and you'll have them corrected. These two circuits are found in the 9:00 and 3:00 position of the 7-way connector.

  • Diameter of Pistons Holes for Pistons and Holes for Shoulder Bolts on Dexter Brake Caliper BP18-045
I went out to the warehouse and pulled caliper # BP18-045 to measure it. The overall diameter of the holes where the pistons are is 3 inches. The piston diameter is 2-3/8 inches. And the shoulder bolts are 5/8 inch diameter and 5 inches long so the holes will be slightly larger at 0.63 inches. Since this caliper has a specific application, Dexter 10k and 12k disc brakes, I cannot gaurantee that it will work with any other system.

  • Testing 4-Way Trailer Wiring Connector in 2012 Acura TL
First thing you should do at this point is test the 4-way of the wiring harness with a circuit tester part # PTW2993 for voltage on all of the right pins when the taillight signals are being applied. Just like in the video I attached. If the voltage checks out there but the trailer lights still don't function right then the problem is on the trailer wiring. That would mean that problem is either due to a ground issue or a short issue. Make sure that the trailer side connector are clean...

  • What is the Wiring Color Code for a 4 Pole Flat
Below I have posted a link to the trailer wiring page that has a color code chart on it. Brown = taillights Yellow = left turn/brake Green = right turn/brake White = ground wire To confirm you have the correct connections you can use a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, # 3808, and match the wiring from the vehicle with your 4 flat.

  • Needing a Trailer Wiring Adapter From RV to Flat Towed Vehicle
If you have a 4-way flat connection on you RV and a 4-way round connection on your flat towed vehicle, then I recommend using a the Custer Trailer Connection Adapter, # ADP001. This adapter used with a wiring harness like # 18045 will allow you to connect to the 4-way flat connector on your RV to the 4-way round connector that is installed on your flat towed vehicle.

  • How to Wire a Toyota Tundra with 4-Pole Connector to a Trailer with a 6-Pole Connector
It sounds to me like you have two running light wires on your trailer. The green and brown and yellow and brown wires are most likely right and left side running lights so both of these should most likely attach to the brown wire terminal which corresponds to the brown wire in the 4-Pole connector on your truck. This would mean that you only have 5 poles in the trailer connector that are used. These could be the left turn/brake, the right turn/brake, brown running lights, ground and electric...

I don't have on off-the shelf item that provide a solution for your license plate, but I can tell you how to put something together that would work pretty well for you. I'd recommend you use a license plate bracket/lamp like part # LPL55CB. You could use wing nuts, fender washers and bolts that would allow you to quickly move the plate with a minimum of fuss. When the # 6502 carrier is folded down, you could need to drill holes in the edge of the carrier to attach the plate. When the carrier...

  • 5 Foot Long 4-Way Flat to 7-Way Flat Adapter
Not exactly, but I can come up with a 5 foot long adapter that has a 7-way male on one end and a 4-way female on the other. Basically you would need the # 18045 and then to plug in the # PK12716 into the corresponding end and you would be good to go.

  • 4-way Extension Recommendation for Use with an Optronics Light Kit # TLL36RK
What I think would make the most sense for you to do would be to get a 4-way extension piece to give you a little more wire so that you could install the Optronics Trailer Light Kit # TLL36RK. It sounds like you would probably need about an additional 5 feet of wiring, so for that I would recommend you get a Draw Tite Wiring Extension # 18045. This basically is a 4-way extension that will give you an additional 5 feet of wiring and should do the trick for you. If you wanted to, you could...

  • Adding In-Bed Trailer Wiring in a 1994 Dodge Ram for a Camper
To add in-bed wiring for your truck bed camper I would need to know what type of connector the camper requires. A lot of campers have unique wiring connectors but I can tell you how to get some wiring in the bed and add a 7-Way blade style connector. You will start by installing a 4-Way (unless the truck already has one) at the back of the vehicle. Use # 118317 that you have referenced. Then you will need to install # ETBC7 which will provide a 7-Way and 4-Way at the back of the truck....

First, thank you for including the photo of your pop-up trailer's connector. Photos always helps us help you. You are correct that Hidden Hitch Jayco adapter # 30104 will let you connect a 4-pole flat connector to a 6-way square connector on a Jayco brand trailer but your Dutchmen 801D may not be wired with the same pin configuration. You can try this part and it might indeed work, and if it does not you could cut it and re-wire the two sides to the appropriate set up using butt connectors. Or,...

The Hopkins Heavy-Duty, Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter, # HM47075, measures 3 feet long when stretched. This will most likely not be long enough for most flat towing applications unless the 4-Way end on the vehicle has some slack that you can pull out. You could just add a 4-pole loop, # 18045, which will provide another 60 inches of length. There is also a 48 inch loop, # 18044.
