1995 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

Comments
After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

Quality unit. Easy installation. Replaced the oem perfectly.

Oem replacement as it should be. 2002 Ford f350

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

by:

The part was an exact match. I really appreciated being able to put the vehicle information in when ordering so I could make sure I was ordering the correct part. Very quick service as well.
Thank you

Excellent product and great service by E-trailer!

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:

Awesome delivery, received it 3 days early and the part fit perfect. Great customer service.

by:

It is a direct OEM replacement, easy installation. What I liked most was a real person answered my call and took my order, Katherine was very polite and knowledgeable. Thanks again. CJ

2015 Porsche Macan

Worked as hoped. I was unable to order a similar one from the local dealer for my PORSCHE MACAN. From the info on trailer this seemed to be the type I needed and the cost was better. It was in stock and shipped quickly. I'd still be waiting for the dealer to get the comparable unit after they have been out for months.

  • 2008 Chevrolet 2500HD 12 Volt Battery Wire for 7-Way Connector
Sounds like you have the correct 7 way connector and the correct pins, but you are missing the wire that runs from the power posts to the connector. First let's make sure. In the under hood accessory fuse block there are two power posts on the engine side of the block. The post closest to the front of the truck should have a wire connected to it that runs back to the factory trailer connector and provides 12 volt power at the 1:00 position as you have stated. • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Lock Up After Rewiring Trailer
It sounds like the 12 volt circuit of the 7-way wiring is shorting out to the brake output circuit which is causing the brakes to lock up when the trailer is connected to the tow vehicle.
