The plastic plugs don’t hold up very well in the bed of the truck to plug in the 5th wheel trailer in nothing can beat the metal ones


like the flush mount and compact of socket, and preferred the metal case over plastic one.

High quality that should last a long time! My only complaint was that the pin that orients the inner part was hard to get in place.


Bought this after the cover on my plastic one broke in half so it would not hold the plug in. (It was -20° though). Solids well made piece, nothing here will break at -20°. Etrailer was the only place I could find one that is all metal. Placed the order and had it in hand in 3 days. Never let down by Etrailer.



After 1 year its holding up great. No signs of rust either, Minnesota loves salting the h*ll out of the roads in the winter. I did give the inside contacts a good coat of dielectric grease And they are looking god too. Great product.


good product made of steel not plastic,made in tiawan ,better than china,would like one made in USA. maybe etrailer can find more parts made in USA i would be willing to pay more.its time to take back our country,the USA.

Product is much better than the plastic version. The receptacle has a very strong spring on the lid and a hook to lock the trailer plug into it.
The plug is galvanized and not stainless how ever, so it will corrode and rust in the Wisconsin rust belt eventually. After 1 year how ever it is fine.
I bought the metal version for out custom work trucks that I build for our company. The protective lids on the plastic ones were getting broken. The metal plug is more durable and has solved that issue.


Very heavy duty connector, metal body, brass terminals, metal locking pin. We use them for construction work all day long. They will take the abuse the workers put them through.

After being unhappy with plastic connectors I picked one of these up and it seems to fix all my problems with covers breaking off.

Works great, Very easy to install. The rubber plug in the back is the only difficult part to deal with. I Place a dab of silicone around it to make a better water proof fit.


After having to replace numerous plastic sockets over the years I have finally found a robust alternative. Sturdy and well made. Not the cheap articles found in most places. Installed and used already they are not as bulky looking as the cheaper models so they don't protrude out but hug to the bumper. The salesman was very helpful and professional. Answering questions I posed to him.

Great product that is still in great shape despite riding underneath my off road vehicle on some seriously tough trails throughout the 4 Corners.

    Brake lights and running lights are not powered via the same wire. Since you're having multiple circuits have issues I'd double check that your hooked up the main ground on the frame, and that no grounds were removed. If grounds check out you'll have a wire coming from each running light that gets attached to the running light circuit on your trailer connector.     If the left hand stop/turn signal pin on your trailer connector does not have power then this will be caused by either a blown fuse, faulty converter box, and or wire short. I am not sure which side you are referring to (trailer or vehicle) but the easiest place to start will be the vehicle side and then work your way to the trailer. The fuse locations for the trailer wiring (if factory) will be listed in your owner's manual or on the underside of the fuse box lid.

  • Are the Pins of a 7-Way Trailer Socket Supposed to be Bent
    If the pins of your current 7-way are bent down and do not look like the pins in the 7-way picture that I attached you would need to either bend them back so that they make contact again or replace the entire socket with something like the part # PK12703 that you referenced. Your bent posts are the reason your trailer wiring is working properly.

    The pin in the 1:00 position on your 7-way is fed by the auxiliary power circuit. The wire feeding that circuit runs to the engine compartment and terminates under the brake booster and master cylinder and will have a ring terminal on the end of it.     You did not specify what vehicle you have but many will have a fuse specifically for those lights so if you take a look at your owner's manual it should specify which fuse you need to replace as well as its location. Additionally you may have an overload if your running lights are incandescent or there is a short that is causing the overdraw so you will want to check the maximum amps your harness can handle and make sure the lights aren't drawing more than that.     For your trailer with a 6-way there are actually two common ways the 6-ways can get wired up. The only difference is that the brake output circuit and the 12 volt circuit are swapped.
