Video Transcript for All About the Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number PK12727. This is the Pilot Trailer Connector Adapter, 7-blade plug with a 7-pole round pin. This adapter is going to plug into your 7-way blade style vehicle connector. That's going to be this end here. Then it's going to convert it for use with a 7-way round pin-style trailer end connector. This is going to be made from a durable, non-corrosive nylon construction. The male 7-way blade style connector on the adapter is going to join with the female 7-way blade style connector on your vehicle. Then the female 7-way round pin style connector on the adapter is going to join with the male 7-way round pin style connector on the trailer. You can see here that it's going to have a spring-loaded cap, so it's always going to protect those connection points when the connector is not in use, keeping out any dirt or grime.

Which is going to prevent any corrosion from being able to happen to the plugs. It's also got mounting options here. This does not include a mounting bracket. That's going to be sold separately. It's got a nice cover design back here that's going to cover up the wires. Then it's going to flow right into the protective wire loom.

This is to keep the wires safe and away from damage. On this end here, this is going to be the end that plugs into the vehicle. It's got the nice finger tab, so it's going to be an easy grip design. I took some measurements of it, and the overall length measured about 16-1/2 inches. That's from end to end. The amount of wiring that we have from the back of this plug here to the back of this plug here measured 7-1/2 inches.

It's going to have a voltage rating at 12 volts. That's going to do it for our review of part number PK12727. This is the Pilot Trailer Connector Adapter 7-blade plug to 7-pull round pin adapter. .

The connectors are poor fitting and would disconnect. Several pins retainers gave way making adapter useless

by:

Love it. Work great..

by:

I don't know if the problem was with this or the stick on lights for the trailer but the yellow lights come on when the red ones should and visa versa.
Otherwise the unit made the connection possible.

If you are looking at this item you probably have a late model farm implement that you need to tow on the highway with a pickup truck. The plugs and receptacles on late model farm tractors and implements is the seven pole round pin type like tractor trailer trucks use. Of course the receptacle on a late model pickup truck is the is seven blade, flat blade RV type. Be advised there is an adapter made that reverses male to female plugs and it won't work with the RV type female receptacle on a pickup. This item, PK12727, is what you want to be able to plug a farm implement into a pickup receptacle. In my case it was a Haybuster no till drill rented from the USDA soil conservation office which I had to tow to my farm. The only problem I had was the wiring was torn off of the drill when I got there to pick it up so the brake and tail lights didn't work anyway after I bought the adapter. BUT it works great pulling my Kubota round baler with my pickup. Every farmer needs one of these in his truck.

by:

Item was just what we needed. Our pickup has a 7 flat blade plug so we needed an adapter to go to an 7 pole round plug for our construction trailer. All our trucks have round pole plugs, but not the pickup. The adapter did the trick for us now we don't have to change ends when towing with different trucks.

by:

Plugs into the back of chevy and the other end I plug into my John deere baler and now the baler lights work. Never can be to safe and a lot cheaper than John deere.

Works fantastic great price

by:

I just received the adapter today. I hope to put it to use this weekend. I was very impressed with the shipping time, as it was ordered on a weekend and shipped out during the weekend with quick response and made it here through a holiday and snow storm. Shipping was expensive for such a light product and size of box. The actual adapter could use some tape on the male side to provide a better seal between plug and wires.

by:

this item solves my problem of when i move a trailer wired w/ a large plug. easy to store and always handy. great workman ship. would buy again.

by:

Ordered this standard delivery on Monday and received it Wednesday afternoon. Good quality and is exactly what I was looking for. I am a transporter an occasional pull trailers with the 7 round plug. This will convert the 7-blade plug on my truck to the 7-round.

by:

Great product, easy to use!

by:

We purchased this adapter to tow our John Deere 568 baler with a truck. Worked just like it should.

by:

This one was everything needed
Makes
the match up with vehicle and trailer excellent. Wish i had it sooner

by:

First, Ashley in sales was great! Immediately knew what I needed. Delivery was as stated.
The adapter solved my problem and Horne back on the road with my new trailer. I am very satisfied.

by:

We ordered a pig tail adapter, and received the item in good time. Seem to get on an order and get it shipped, we are very happy with the transaction. Thanks to everyone involved!!

by:

Just what I needed. Searched all over, but only etrailer had what I needed. Think maybe next time I'll just start with them.

by:

I believe it is what I need! I have not used it yet!

Great! Thanks for asking!

by:

Well made and works great but it's very tight when connecting and almost impossible to unplug. I was afraid I was going to break it. After that I keep grease on it, which is better but still very tight and now messy.

by:

Does exactly what it is supposed to do and is well made.

by:

Just what I needed, price was decent, and the flexibility of being able to mount it , or remove it ,
Is BRILLIANT!

by:

Fast shipping, item as described. Good transaction! Thanks!!

by:

The product was as described and in its original packaging. It looks well built and complete. I have not yet had the opportunity to test it.

by:

It worked perfectly for what we needed it for.

by:

The adapter works great! Just what I've been looking for.

by:

Works good as it should and I am pleased with it. I give it 5 stars.

  • 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 7-Way Wiring Harness Recommendation
To get the wiring configuration you're wanting you'll need to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118786 on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This gives you a 4-Way with the standard trailer light circuits. Then from here we need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This comes with all of the wiring and parts to get you a fully-functional 7-Way but the nice thing about this wiring kit is it also retains the 4-Way part as well so you don't need an adapter for that. • Adapter Needed To Go From 7-Pole Blade To 7-Pole Round Pin Connector
If your 2015 Ford F-250 has a standard 7-way then you can use an adapter like the Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Blade Plug to 7-Pole Round Pin # PK12727 to go from the standard 7-pole blade to 7-pole round pin connection type. If you only had a 4-pole connector then you could use the Custer Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way Flat to 7-Way Round # KIT-7P-4 instead.

The Adapter 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 47435 will plug into a 6 round connector on your truck and then convert it to the larger more common 7-pole connector. While the connector is round the terminals inside are mostly blade connectors. If your 7-way connector uses round terminals in the connector you will also need the Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Blade Plug to 7-Pole Round Pin # PK12727 to get to the 7-pole pin connection.

  • 6-Pin Round Vehicle Connector To 7-Pin Round Commercial Trailer Connector
I have a couple options as there is not one adapter from a 6-pin round vehicle connector to a 7-pin round commercial trailer connector. The first will combine a Adapter 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 47435 and a Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter # PK12727 to adapt your connections. Or you can wire in a Pollak 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector # PK11604 to a Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11720. This will create your own wiring adapter....

  • Recommended 4-Way Flat Connector To A 7 Round Plug Adapter
When it comes to a 4-way flat connector to a 7 round plug adapter I recommend The Hopkins Endurance, Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Way to 5-Way or 4-Way Flat with Nite-Glow # HM47075. This heavy-duty coiled cable has a weatherproof jacketing, has easy-grip connectors, and has tin-plated terminals for corrosion resistance. It has 18 gauge stop/tail/turn and has 16 gauge ground/reverse. I attached a review video link below.

  • Is There a Difference Between 7-Way Round and 7-Way Blade Connector
So the round 7-way is more common on heavy duty setups whereas the blade style 7-way is much more commonly used on the lighter duty RV setups. Aside from compatibility there really isn't a significant difference. You could use a 7-way round to 7-way blade connector like the part # PK12727 if ever needed.

The Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Blade Plug to 7-Pole Round Pin - Nylon # PK12727 does have the ability to separate out the functions so they operate correctly with your 7-pin trailer. The manufacturer has done the work so you can simply have a plug and play adapter between your 2005 Silverado and your commercial style 7-pin trailer wiring. I've attached an article to assist with where the functions match up on each end of the adapter.

  • How to Extend the Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter # PK12727
All of the adapters like the part # PK12727 that you referenced would need to be extended in order to be 3 feet long. To do this you would need to cut the wires and then wire in a length of wire for each circuit so that it is long enough for what you need. I would recommend 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 that is sold by the foot.

  • 7-Way Round to 7-Way Blade Adapter Recommendation
The part # PK12727 is an adapter that does exactly what you described. It goes from a 7-way blade on a truck to a trailer that has a 7-way round connector. You might also consider removing the existing 7-pin connector from the trailer, and replacing it with the 7-way blade plug like part # A7WCB. The 7-way round pin is getting fairly close to being obsolete. The 7-way blade connector is much more prevalent.
