Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector

Today we're going to take a look at the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer End Trailer Connector. Now this connector plug will install on the tow vehicle to allow you to plugin to a 6-pin socket on the vehicle that's being towed. This replacement connector plug will fit into the RoadMaster 6-Wire Straight and the Flexo-Coil Electric Cord sockets. It also works with your standard 6 pole trailer sockets. It has a nice finger grip design. You can see right here on the very end here.

It helps you push it in to install it and then also pull it out to remove it. It makes it pretty simple. Now on the back here where the wire cord will come in, there's actually a screw that you'll loosen up. It allows you to put the cord in there. Then when you tighten that down, it will push down on the cord and hold it into place. Once your wire comes through here, you want to make your connection to the front connector.

Just go ahead and take this little Phillips screw out right on the top here. Once the little screw comes out, you can actually pull out the socket portion in there. There's your connection points right there that when your wire comes through, you make all your connections you need to. Once they're all connected, then just slide it back in. Line the hole up. Then what we're going to do is take the little Phillips screw.

Once we get it on there, go ahead and put it back on there. Screw it in. That will hold that socket into place. Then just snug it up. Then it's all wired, and you're all ready to go to plugin.

That should do it for the review on the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer End Trailer Connector.

This connector seems a bit heavier than the Roadmaster stock which disintegrated on the first trip with my tow car. Still made in China :-[
Good internal terminal connections and it slides together easily. We will see how it performs in the field when we hit the road next month.

This was only a part of my order. I bought the Hopkins HM56300 wiring kit and additional parts for my toad. Haven't had time to install but everything looks like first class products and should be easy to install using the video on etrailer's web site. Katy was very helpful answering my questions and getting my order placed

  • Availability of 7-Pole Round to 6-Pole Coiled Wiring Harness for RV
It sounds like you're looking for tow bar wiring like the # RM-146-7 but with a 7-pole round connector on one end. We don't have an option that comes this way but you can put one together yourself with the right parts. You need the # RM-1046-R for the wiring. Then for the 6-pole you need the # RM-910030-8 and for the 7-pole on the other end the # PK11700.

An article on wiring is linked to assist you with this process. To connect your 4-way trailer to your Rialta camper you will need a Hopkins Tail Light Converter # HM48847 and Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector Socket # HM48030. These will allow you to tie into the wiring going into your 6-way connector to combine the turn signals and brake lights to work on the 4-way wiring. You can use the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-676 on your motorhome that has a 6-pole wiring connector by using an adapter # 337TC1067P. You will just want to confirm the function/pin configuration on the motorhome socket to verify that the center pin carries the 12V auxiliary power circuit. If you apply a circuit tester like # PTW2992 to this center pin and detect continuous 12V then the adapter will work fine. If you have a small 12V light bulb or a volt meter those can...

  • How To Wire In A 6-pole Trailer-End Connector
Hi Barry, In order to correctly wire in a 6-way connector # RM-910030-8 you're first going to need to know what the functions of those wires are. If your battery is nearby you can use a spare piece of the wire to put 12v power to each wire and see what light turns on and label that wire. White is typically your ground so it is possible that the yellow is just another ground wire for some light or appliance too. If you still have the wires connected to the 6-pole connector then you'll...

  • Can Roadmaster RM-910030-6 6-Pin Be Used to Replace 4-Pole Trailer Connector
You could certainly do that if you wish, but if durability is what you're primarily concerned with, I'd use the # PK11609 die-cast socket along with the # RM-910030-8 plug, versus the plastic 6 pin plug provided with the # RM-910030-6 plug you'd looked at. The metal socket would withstand abuse better than the plastic socket. One thing to keep in mind, if you wire the vehicle and trailer this way, you'll have an issue if you ever try to to that trailer with another vehicle. You might...
