  • Core width: 12-1/4"
  • Distance between inlets: 3-3/4"

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

Removing the front bumper/grill on my Odyssey was a must! Installation was pretty much straight forward once you confirm the feed, and return connection points. Mounting the actual cooler to the front radiator was the easiest part of the job. My Odyssey made two 650 mile trips pulling 2050 lbs with no problems so I’m very happy with the cooler!

2004 Dodge Dakota

good product form a great company !
only complaint is this was listed as for my specific truck, but the "insta-dapt" supplied doesn't fit the Dodge truck of my year. even doing my research ahead of time, it seems to be hit or miss whether it would fit as some of them come with 5/16 fittings and some (like mine) come with 9/16 fittings. it doesnt matter the engine size, even other 3.7L dodge trucks of the same year have 5/16 fittings... I think Dodge made a change middle year, but never let the consumer know as mine is a late year '04.
no dig deal as I was able to assemble it anyways and got it up and running great and both the radiator and trans are running much cooler now !
I attached the D12902 to the bumper as you will see in attached images.
2 attached images are just before finishing, bumper hasnt been attached yet, one of them is after everything was complete.

Good product. The only problem, the hose that is supplied diameter is way to small for the nipples on the cooler. Had to heat up the hose to put on, even then extremely tight fit.

Not sure of the btu output of this but it worked perfectly fine in my jeep with the factory transmission. Upgraded to a built transmission and as it seems ill need a lot more cooling capacity. No rust or corrosion so far. The clamps it ships with are a gigantic transmission hazzard... had a clamp split right down the middle on me in my drive way thankfully. I would buy different clamps if you didn't want fluid puking out of a hose at 90+ psi and kill your trans.

Worked great, was able to travel safely putting my minivan to work. Simple install with great instructions. Will extend the life and increase the value of your vehicle!

Works well. Just make sure it is matched to the load being towed.

Not installed yet but its the best price i could find.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

I put the transmission cooler on a 2006 ram 2500 it keeps it 30° cooler than the OEM transmission cooler

The products I ordered arrived on time and was great quality. Everything matched up and placed on vehicle same day.Its functional and working great! Cooler temps on my transmission. Thanks etrailer! I'll be ordering some more items soon!

Great product, I’m currently in the middle of the installation.

I just installed this on my chevy avalanche.
the bottom brace around in order to mount to.
The hardest part is getting the hoses on the cooler and over the return line.
I ended up getting a 90 deg quick connection coming from the radiator instead of using the one I got from etrailer. This keeps the hose from bending as much.
Also purchase the installation kit with a hose as you will need an extra hose.
After install I wish I would have went with the next bigger unit which is 10 high instead of 7 1/2 as I had plenty of room.

Works solidly, much better than the optional stock tranny cooler. It doesn't get temps as low as another one I've had, but it doesn't leak like that one either! Always keeps temps within acceptable range, though at the higher end of acceptable when pulling 7-8k in 110*F outside temps and hills. Be prepared to fabricate a mount for it, not a one size fits all kit!

I have always loved etrailer and their service. Once again order another of these coolers. Drop my temp from 240 to 170-190 also remember to order extra hose, the adapter if needed for your vehicle make, mount kits. Love it. Perfect this one is on a 07 GMC Yukon XL always add an extra cooler on your 1500 gmc or chevys they help out so much for them.

This fan looks like it will do a great job.
more overheated transmission.
Pulling a trailer in stop and go traffic on a 100 degree day - No problem :-)

Excellent, way better than the WeatherTech rain guards I had on there before.

I was able to mount it but never able to actually install it and hook it up completely.

Installed this in a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. Mounted it above the factory cooler that was already in the truck. (Flat fin side towards the a/c condenser). I used the insta-mount zip tie kit and also the flex metal mounts to anchor the cooler to the top of the factory cooler bracket as close to the a/c condenser as possible. The vertical bracket (part of the truck) that runs right down the middle of the a/c condenser has to be cut. All fairly minor fabrication. Hack saw and hand drill stuff. The fan has to be reversed to become a pusher. Followed the hood release cable from the interior to run 12 volts to power the fan on at ignition. Haven’t hooked the trailer up yet so I don’t know if this will resolve the hot tranny situation. ( I could smell the tranny getting hot before especially when we stopped at lights). Change your fluid too. etrailer delivered quickly and the cooler was well boxed and untouched.

Hose barely fits on the fittings of the fittings of the cooler. It was very frustrating.

Appears well constructed and delivered with all parts necessary for installation. Rating base on just that. Have not installed but, when installed and operational I’ll rewrite review.

Wanted to give my Honda better ability to handle a tow. this baby does the job. Transmission definitely cooler operation since the install. The install was simple and straight forward.

I purchased this for my C6 Corvette A6 transmission. I did, however, bypass the radiator and only use the transmission cooler for the C6. I purchased and used the Derale Radiator Adapter fitting 259-13035 for both the top and bottom and just capped them off to keep debris out of the reservoir. I also had to make some custom mounting brackets. This is an excellent product and it keeps the tranny in a great temperature range.

i put this unit in my 2008 NIssan Titan pickup. we are going to take a 9000 mile trip this summer pulling a 27 ft HI Lo camper. The instructions were very generic. specific unit instructions would be very helpful. the grill was difficult to get out until i found a Youtube video for that. the hose provided was to short, so I made a run to the parts store. the unit appears to be well made.

After one of use on a 2005 Honda Pilot, everything is holding up just fine. The one star less is because of the difficulty in installing it on this particular vehicle. Although this is a universal component, it is MUCH easier to install on pickup trucks. Best of luck with a brand new rubber hose going on with any sort of ease.

I mounted this fan in the puller position on my auxiliary transmission cooler so that I can tow a 15ft travel trailer with my minivan. Installation was sweet. There was an instruction page in the box and enough parts for mounting. I was surprised at how much air this thing moves. I wouldn't call it noisy since the fan spins smoothly and quietly when I tested it out in the open, but when mounted in the congested grill area of my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan I can definitely hear it hum more than the stock radiator fan. It pushes that much air. I would definitely recommend this product.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For A 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Generally speaking, the best transmission cooler to use would be the largest one you have available space for behind the grill and in front of the radiator. The largest available cooler we have as a confirmed fit for your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser is the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D12902. This kit comes with everything needed for installation, including instructions which you can also find linked to this answer page. The winter season will not affect performance. This...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler and Brake Controller for a 2008 Dodge Nitro
A vehicle equipped with a tow/haul button does not necessarily have a factory transmission cooler. The tow/haul button is used to change the shift points of your transmission for optional performance while towing. Almost all vehicles nowadays have an auxiliary transmission cooler of some sort, however, that's not to say that they are designed for towing or will withstand the transmission temperatures associated with this. Therefore, I recommend installing an aftermarket transmission cooler...

  • How Does a Transmission Cooler Install on a 2007 Nissan Frontier
On a transmission cooler like # D12902 or any for a 2007 Nissan Frontier, the new cooler is a supplemental unit. The fluid will flow from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, out of the radiator, into the new cooler, then back to the transmission. In some cases you can use a cooler to bypass the factory cooler but you would have to block off the factory inlet/outlet cooler ports on the radiator. Also a larger and more efficient cooler should be used. I have included...

  • Is a Transmission Cooler Needed and Do I Need Additional Fluid
You are correct on both accounts, a transmission cooler would be recommended for your towing situation, and you would also need to add enough transmission fluid to fill both the new transmission cooler and any lines associated with it. Transmission fluid can not be over cooled, but it is critical in extreme cold conditions to allow the vehicle to warm up before driving. Thank you for supplying information regarding your trailer weight and your vehicle towing capacity please also check...

  • Is an Aftermarket Transmission Cooler Recommended for a 2009 Honda Ridgeline with Tow Package
Vehicles come with some type of transmission cooler from the factory. The tow package on your 2009 Honda Ridgeline may include an upgraded version of the factory transmission cooler. Whether or not an aftermarket transmission cooler is needed depends largely on how much weight you will be towing and how often you plan to tow. Transmission fluid can not be overcooled but in the winter it will need longer to warm up if you add an aftermarket cooler that works in line with your current system. If...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2014 Acura MDX
It's definitely possible that the transmission cooler similar to the Derale Class I # D12902 you have installed on your 2014 Acura MDX is too small, but the transmission overheating could have been caused by a few other factors as well. I first recommend making sure that the cooler is mounted in a good location that is getting plenty of air flow. The ideal location for mounting a cooler like this is directly behind the grille, in front of the AC condenser core. The outside temperature,...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2011 Honda Odyssey Carrying Kayak or Canoe
For your canoe and kayak, the Inno Locker Watersport Carrier w/ Crossbar Pads - Locking - Clamp On - 1 Boat or 2 Boards # INA446 is my recommendation. In regards to adding a transmission cooler to your 2011 Honda Odyssey it is never a bad idea but it isn't required. Normally a transmission cooler is seen as more of a requirement when towing a trailer, but the idea of adding one especially because you are obviously comfortable doing so is always a benefit. • Transmission Line Identification to Install Cooler # D12902 on a 2010 Dodge Caravan
You will not want to use the lines on the condenser, you will want to find the metal lines that are threaded into the radiator that come from the transmission. Check on the sides of the radiator, usually there will be metal lines that are run to the radiator and attach with hex bolts. Those are the lines you will need. In order to determine which line is bringing fluid to the cooler and which line is return line from the cooler to the transmission you will want to follow these steps: Start...

  • Installing Brakes On A Trailer Towed By 2004 Subaru Forester
I researched the owner's manual for your 2004 Forester and found the chart for towing a trailer. If you have a manual transmission you can tow a trailer with no brakes that weighs 1000-lbs or less. If the trailer has brakes you can tow up to 2400-lbs. If you have an automatic transmission you are limited to 1000-lbs if the trailer has no brakes and 2000-lbs if the trailer has brakes. It may be more cost-effective to find a trailer that already has brakes installed. Adding brakes to...

  • 2011 FJ Cruiser Transmission Cooler Recommendation
The length of hose that comes with the Derale transmission coolers like part # D12902 is 10 feet. That is usually adequate for most vehicles, but on a larger SUV like your 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser a long hose like part # D13017 could be needed. In most cases the line needed can be pretty short since typically the fittings and lines that get removed and used are all right near the radiator. Typically you don't need a long section of hose unless you are going from the transmission all the...

You are on the right track with calculating your payload. It sounds like you will be at about 875 lbs including fuel. There is no way to effectively increase your max payload rating. One suggestion I do have would be to install a trailer hitch like our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98905. The hitch itself weighs only 35 lbs and is rated for up to 6,000 lbs towing. This should allow you to stay just under capacity. We are going to be pushing your truck near capacity, so anything we...

  • Installing Derale Transmission Cooler to Replace OEM Cooler on 2007 Nissan Frontier SE
The Derale transmission coolers we sell are designed more as a supplemental cooler that is meant to augment the factory transmission cooler portion of the radiator, not replace it entirely. Even though you have plenty of remaining capacity, and even with the OEM cooler (probably incorporated into the radiator), a transmission cooler is really inexpensive insurance for your transmission.
